Hi

Are you a User or a BOT (computer Program) ? Bentogoa (talk) 11:16, 18 February 2015 (UTC)

@Bentogoa: I am a user. -- Pikachu6968 (talk) 13:05, 18 February 2015 (UTC)

Hello and Welcome

Hello Pikachu6968, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions so far. I would like to take a minute to give some advice. The first thing I would like to point out is the character images at the top of your talk page are probably a copyright violation as the files are only licensed for fair use on their Wikipedia pages and not anywhere else. You help at WP:AIV is greatly appreciated, however you do not need to add the matched text comments on all the reports as the admins can probably see why they are nominated, it also gives your account the look of a bot since that is the bot's job on the top section of the page. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to ask them here I will do my best to answer them. Just use {{Ping|McMatter}} in your message to let me know there is a message for me.- McMatter (talk)/(contrib) 14:17, 18 February 2015 (UTC)

I came here to say essentially the same thing about your edits at WP:UAA. When admins review the user-generated reports they can see for themselves why they were reported and if they are violations or not. If they have doubts they can discuss it with the reporting user. The bot just adds those notes because it is only as smart as it's programming and is letting us know why it reported. It isn't necessary to add those tags to user-generated reports, and it does make it look like you are a bot, as others have pointed out. Thanks. Beeblebrox (talk) 20:00, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
On the other hand, what we do need right now at UAA is someone doing some simple cleanup tasks. Removing reports on users that are now blocked and moving reports with the "wait" tag on them to the holding pen. There's been such a constant stream of reports that admins are just handling them and moving to the next one, nobody has been keeping the lists orderly and now it's a bloated mess. Beeblebrox (talk) 20:05, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
Seriously, please stop adding those tags. They are nor helpful. Thanks. Beeblebrox (talk) 02:17, 19 February 2015 (UTC)

Semi Protect

How do I semi protect my userpages so that only I and an admin/patroller can edit it? -- The user who likes cosplay Pikachu #2568 @ 10:02, 2 March 2015 (UTC)

If you have Twinkle you can just use the RPP option on it and put "Request within own userspace" and it will likely be semi-protected (Only auto-confirmed users can edit it). If no then go to WP:RPP and follow the instructions there. TheMesquitobuzz 10:22, 2 March 2015 (UTC)

edit templates

how do i become a template editor? Pikachu2568 (talk) 11:47, 4 March 2015 (UTC)

Make a request at WP:PERM. However, the standard guidelines for granting this right require that you've made at least 1,000 edits overall (with at least 150 to templates), have been a registered user for over a year, and have a record of successfully proposing significant edits to several protected templates. At present, you would not be granted this userright. Yunshui  12:34, 4 March 2015 (UTC)
That said, you can edit (unprotected) templates just like anyone else; the edit tab at the top works in the same way as on article pages. Just make sure you're familiar with template syntax first - this page is a good place to start. Yunshui  12:37, 4 March 2015 (UTC)

Admin

How do I become an admin? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pikachu2568 (talkcontribs)

See Wikipedia:Guide to requests for adminship and Wikipedia:Advice for RfA candidates. Although there is no formal threshold, it is extremely unlikely that anyone with less than several months' experience and several thousand edits will pass RFA, because an administrator needs to be familiar with many different areas of the site's operations, and also needs to have established enough of a track record to let the community assess whether their judgement can be trusted. The best advice for a new user like yourself is, forget for the moment about being an admin, instead join in and help build the encyclopedia, gaining experience in different areas. Pokemon

Hey, just letting you know, I reverted some of your edits to the Pokemon lists. We try not to go overboard on game information to the details. Wikipedia is not a game guide, we just cover the Pokemon species as fictional characters, and try to give the readers enough information to understand what they are. Stuff like what level they evolve at, or what location they are found is considered trivial information. If the species does evolve particularly interestingly, or is found at a notable location, we can explain this in the text. Note, I don't make the rules, I just try to follow them! For some help about manuals of style for writing articles, see WikiProject Video games's Article guidelines, WikiProject Pokemon's style for standalone species articles, and for the lists. Sections seen in PC but not seen in iOS

{{Admin help}} How do you make sections invisible in ios but seen in PC? -- Pikachu2568 (talk) 12:44, 16 March 2015 (UTC)

Don't know the answer to this, but just wanted to suggest you stop by Wikipedia:Village pump (technical) to ask this if an admin can't answer this question. The people over there might be more knowledgeable in this area. Swarm... —X— 18:08, 16 March 2015 (UTC)
I doubt if you can. Although the server knows what system you have (when the page is requested) - so you get the appropriate page type - the page is then sent as a single stream of XHTML. To be able to alter the output would need to use JavaScript to do an "If (browser==XX) then" type encoding within the page, but you can't put javascript into wikipedia pages. Wikitext supports limited HTML commands. But check the VP anyway. Ronhjones  (Talk) 23:42, 16 March 2015 (UTC)

cannot edit

How come I can't edit (1) ?

It is being discussed with the user. Pikachu2568 (talk) 02:59, 23 March 2015 (UTC)

It seems as though I personally can edit their rather silly Sandbox, and their non-existent userpage. Can you link to the discussion? --I dream of horses If you reply here, please leave me a {{Talkback}} message on my talk page. @ 04:17, 23 March 2015 (UTC)
