[edit]Please stop adding spam. Thank you for understanding.--Ymblanter (talk) 21:08, 5 February 2016 (UTC) Please provide your rationale for deleting this link. It is not spam, but a legitimate website link.Pianolover46 (talk) 21:37, 5 February 2016 (UTC)
- No, it is not legitimate. It is not an official website.--Ymblanter (talk) 21:40, 5 February 2016 (UTC)
Educate me please.....what is your definition of official website, and why should this link not be on Wikipedia? I'm just curious.
Pianolover46 (talk) 21:43, 5 February 2016 (UTC)
- The official website is the website owned or exclusively used by the subject of the article. This is not the official website, because it hosts not only a page of the performer, but a bunch of other stuff. It should not be on Wikipedia because the link is promotional. You just try to use our popularity to promote an obscure website.--Ymblanter (talk) 21:56, 5 February 2016 (UTC)
That's an interesting perspective. I have noticed that many musical artists have links in their "External Links" section such as Sony BMG, IMG Artists, BMG Classics, RCA Victor, EMI Classics, Sony Classical, Allmusic, Amazon, iTunes, and many others. Should all those be removed from the thousands of artists Wiki pages?
Pianolover46 (talk) 22:12, 5 February 2016 (UTC)- I would say so.--Ymblanter (talk) 22:35, 5 February 2016 (UTC)
Interesting. While it's obviously true I would like folks to know about the website, my objective is to promote artists, not myself. I make nothing from the website. I do not charge artists to be on the site, and I make no revenue from the site. I am attempting to provide a service to artists and fans alike. I respectfully disagree with your assertion that RealPianoMusic.com is spam. The site is becoming more main stream as time goes on. I have permission from every artist on the site before I publish their page and every artist wants their page to be linked to Wikipedia. It is a matter of biographical interest, not spam promotion.
- The best way to promote artists is to make sure they are notable according to our criteris (WP:N, more specifically WP:NMUSIC) and create/expand articles about them. I am not even sure the website can be used as a reliable source according to our policies.--Ymblanter (talk) 08:06, 6 February 2016 (UTC)
