Leonardo
[edit]Thanks for your link, but your page is not up to scratch yet!
- The Paintings page has Leonardo spelt as " Leonaedo"
- Leonardo did not do that picture of Paracelcus. (If you take a hard look at it, you will know that!) I've said this before- if you are going to copy images from other sites read the labels! The writers of other pages have all sorts of reasons for including pictures. They might include paintings or drawings of anyone that Leonardo knew, done by any artist who was alive at the time. It is up to you to check the images before you include them as Leonardo's work. If you look at the Leonardo page, (not the box at the bottom) you will find a detailed list of his known and attributed works. It tells you just how firm the attribution actually is. Not every art historian agrees with every attribution, but there are about 15 that almost everyone agrees with. If something like the Paracelsus isn't mentioned, then the chance of it being Leonardo is remote.
- That image of St Anne and John the B. worshipping the Christ Child in the landscape is something that I have never seen attributed to Leonardo. That is not to say that it is definitely not attributed to him (There is at least one well-known art historian who will attribute anything to anyone. It doesn't mean that anyone reputable agrees! I would definitely remove it.
- You have a label saying that the "Baptism of Jesus" was done by Verrocchio, an apprentice of Leonardo's. That's not right! Read the wikipedia article and find out who Verrocchio was, and what the art historian Vasari said about that painting.
- The picture of the "Adoration of the Magi" shouldn't be in with the sketches. Its a very carefully planned underpainting for a finished picture.
- Likewise, the Ruben's copy of the ruined Battle scene is the evidence of a painting and should be with the paintings, not the sketches.
- I fact, I wouldn't be inclined to call that section "sketches". It would be better to call themm "drawings" because many of them are highly finished, where "sketch" implies something quick.
