Merge discussion over the article List of Hot 100 number-one singles of the 2010s (U.S.)
Dear Phoenix B 1of3. I just wanted to let you know that a merge discussion is currently taking place regarding the content of this article (as you probably remember, you participated in an AfD held over this article in the past) and the content of the rest of the U.S. number-one by-decade series of articles.
Please express your opinion on this matter in the current discussion. Thank you. TheCuriousGnome (talk) 21:00, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
- I am oping out of this discussion as I have nothing to say on its worth, I only commented when I was more active in the Article Rescue Squadron - Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 23:12, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
Please remove Greenwich Meridians from Robinson projections
The Greenwich Meridian is not the central axis for
- http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:UTC_hue4map_X_world_Robinson.png
- http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Worldwide_Time_Zones_(including_DST).png
The only straight line that could be inserted to represent a meridian, would be one on the Florence Meridian. HTML2011 (talk) 02:18, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
- I'm in a logical quandary now, now that I think about it your right, but the Florence Meridian is not a recognized base line, zero degrees is the prime meridian, my maps meridian matches this one to a tee, but then I must question since it is also robinson is it wrong too, I do not want to remove the meridian until im absolutely sure I cant work something out, perhaps Ill be able to work something out, maybe even curve the line slightly. – Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 04:12, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
- http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Equator_and_Prime_Meridian.svg is wrong too. I think the best would be to use a cylindrical projection (List_of_map_projections#Cylindrical), as do:
- The meridian articles, e.g. Longitude_105_degrees_E use cylindrical projection too. And for time zones, meridians are important, not only the Greenwich Meridian. But I would prefer a projection with Florence as central Meridian, like your maps. And example is the Peters World Map. And also I think it would be the best to use standard colors throughout Wikipedia. That's the way to outperform CIA, timeanddate and worldtimezone. HTML2011 (talk) 04:36, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
- Cylindrical maps aren't my specialty, Mercator seems so obscure and distorted that it confuses me, I love mollweides but I cant find any good blank mollweide templates to work with, thats why I settled with robinson, I dont have a up to date computer, I cant even open an svg file properly, all my maps have been created on the elementary program known as "paint", its simple but it works, for png's and jpg's, but not for anything high quality, but for now Ill remove the meridian when I can, probably tomorrow or Wednesday morning, paints not the most cooperative program, removing a line leaves a white space that will need to be refilled in by base template, text and colors. I need to think before I settle on the florence meridian. – Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 04:52, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
- Yes. I can understand. Maybe one day we get .map files instead of .jpg or .svg. It seems http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:UTC_hue4map_X_world_Robinson.png only needs reversion to one version backward. But I didn't find a way to do that on commons. HTML2011 (talk) 04:58, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

- (edit conflict) This one is done, that one was easy, the other one I will need to redo because it has many other crucial changes made since I added the meridian. You are free to edit any of my maps if you see any inaccuracies, all mine should be public domain, this one might not be, but I give you prior permission TZ, so you catch it you may fix it or contact me and ill fix it when I can, let me remove the meridian though, I have things to re-shift and i want it a certain way, I'm a little OCD, you already know that though, I look forward to talking to you again, and if you are the person I think you are dont answer that unless i'm wrong, we can maybe rekindle our friendship in collaboration on this website, and restore those bonds I so rudley shattered but have always regretted deeply since the moment I said what I shouldn't have said, and I am sorry and deeply remorsefull for it, If you are him its good to have you back, if you arent him then maybe in time we can become friends. – Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 05:19, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
I found
- http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/File:World_map_(Miller_cylindrical_projection,_blank).svg, based on
- http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:BlankMap-FlatWorld6.svg
The latter even has a derivative ... for time zones! http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:UTC_hue4map_X_world_flat6.svg . But is incomplete, having no support for countries that contain multiple time zones. I don't know how difficult it would be to add borders within the countries for you, if you use paint.
- (edit conflict) Sorry I the above message before I could read your note, there may be a solution in cautiously drawing the time zone boundries and indeed forget about the subdivisions. – Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 05:24, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
- I have to sign off now, im tired, but I look forward to working with you again in the future. – Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 05:38, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
- I think you cannot edit SVG. So when you mention cautiously drawing time zone boundaries, you probably would convert the SVG to JPG or maybe PNG (better quality?), if the latter is possible.
- I would recommend to use a very high resolution for the JPG/PNG. Would it make sense to use 3600 pixel width to have an easy multiple of 360? Also 3600 / 24 = 150, so for every time zone full hour there are 150 px. The alignment of px with degree could be helpful to have correct boundaries. http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/File:Standard_time_zones_of_the_world.png has 4000 px, so 3600 would be near.
- Thanks for your helpfulness. I am not good at drawing boundaries with a graphical program. I would feel very uncomfortable, even when having the CIA time zone map next to me. Hopefully WP can soon have a cylindrical projection like the CIA, timeanddate or worldtimezone and remove the CIA map with the bad colors. From a color point of view I think timeanddate is the best of the three. Worldtimezone is, em, not so good in my opinion, with Central Asian countries in the same color as China, thus forming a continuous band from the Pacific to the Caspian Sea.
- Thanks for removing the Greenwich Meridian from one of the maps. HTML2011 (talk) 13:58, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
- this one has now been removed too, and all appears to be all right, let me know if any other needed changes come up. – Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 17:04, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
Map Request!
Dear skilled map-maker, would you mind making a map for the Iran-Serbia relations article? Thanks in advance, Zastavafan76 (talk) 03:32, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
- Done and on the article now, I also fixed some redirects to make accessing the article easier, I added the foreign relations templates to the bottom of the page and i will categorize the article within the next few minutes. – Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 04:57, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
Institute for Cooperation in Space
What I have restored to User:Phoenix B 1of3/Institute for Cooperation in Space is all the revisions up to the version at 11 April 2011, because the next edit, on 15 May 2011 by Carol Rosin (talk · contribs) (who is evidently the subject of Carol Rosin), added the complete text of the Treaty from http://www.peaceinspace.com/the-treaty, and so is a copyvio which cannot be restored. Rosin's edit also added:
The Institute for Cooperation in Space no longer exists.
The Institute for Security and Cooperation in Outer Space, a Foundation, is now focused on educating about the Outer Space Security and Development Treaty of 2011 signed and ratified into law. Founded by Dr. Carol Rosin, you can see the distinguished experts who co-wrote this Treaty which incorporates the best of previous and proposed Treaties with additional elements that are updated for our time. You an also see and participate in the PLAN OF ACTION.
Go to http://www.peaceinspace.com for more information.
So it seems your article will need a new title.
Please check with me before moving anything back to the main space - I have twinges of conscience at having split the history of this article. I would prefer that you don't edit this sandbox version but start a new one, under the new name, in another sandbox: when it is ready, I would like to re-delete this so that its history is all back together, and we can work out how to provide for your new article any attribution to this one.
Why on earth (or in space) is it tagged on the talk page for WikiProject Paranormal?
Regards, JohnCD (talk) 21:21, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
- I guess I will start begin a new project here, starting with certain content from the existing page, it might take me a few days to get things straightened out, and when Im done I'll contact you :). – Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 01:44, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
- When ready, can't it be moved first back to Institute for Cooperation in Space and subsequently to Institute for Security and Cooperation in Outer Space, leaving a redirect? -- Trevj (talk) 13:58, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
- Sure I can do that I think. – Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 21:49, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
False Accusation
- Hello Pheonix B. I'm a 46yo forklift driver from Dandenong in Australia. I have studied Metaphysics as my personal hobby for 15 years from many sources. One of these sources is Alfred Webre. I don't know him (or other sources) personally & am on the other side of the world. You have accused me of, >>" You are suspected of sockpuppetry, which means that someone suspects you of using multiple Wikipedia accounts for prohibited purposes. "
I can assure you that I come home from work, sit on a 1 Ghz PC, (with 1/2 a gig of Ram), and do my research. I certainly do not have "multiple" user accounts, and I was quite affronted and upset that you should accuse me of such considering Optus is my only provider & this is my only PC. (Not sure how you could have got any information to the contrary, as I don't really understand these things. ) Irregardless of any evidence to the contrary. I speak the truth & I deny your accusations. I learned about Alfred Webres deletion from a third party, so I'm not in "cahoots" with him. In fact, if I'd known I was entering such a fascist world, when I decided (on my OWN), to comment on this issue. I probably wouldn't have commented at all. (Just let the censors win.) Alfred Webres life can be confirmed by research, as can his many international speaking engagements, and volumes of original written material... It's true that I've only just got my Wikipedia account, (after having used Wikipedia for years), but it does say in the "Meatpuppetry" reference in Wikipedia that: "While Wikipedia assumes good faith, >especially for new users<, recruiting new editors to influence decisions on Wikipedia is prohibited. A new user who engages in the same behavior as another user in the same context, and who appears to be editing Wikipedia solely for that purpose, may be subject to the remedies applied to the user whose behavior they are joining. Sanctions have been applied to editors of longer standing who have not, in the opinion of Wikipedia's administrative bodies, consistently exercised independent judgement."
To this, my answer is simply that I DO NOT follow anyone. Let alone Alfred Webre, or any other Wikipedia user. (Of whom I know none.) That being said, I can say that I do not follow anyone elses comments on the matter of deleting Alfred Webre. My statements were my own, as they always will be, should I choose to edit any other article on Wikipedia.
(from: Defending yourself against claims) "If an accusation on this page is "bad faith" (an editor making a fake case for an "attack" or to prevent their own editing being examined) then you may wish to say so briefly," ↑↑↑↑↑ I DO NOT think you operate in "bad faith", I just think you have been over-zealous, with your blanket approach which includes me as a "socketpuppetry" person. I am not. Nor, have I heard the term before today.
It is my desire to resolve this accusation you have levelled against me, without drama, as I think you have made a genuine mistake in including me as part of any group, or idolitrator of anyone. I hope you can see my response as fair dinkum. (This means "No Lies" in Australia). Please remove me from your accusations. TrexSwampy (talk) 10:20, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, I will remove the accusation of you from the list, there were so many similar edits from so many different new users I must have mistaken you for one of them, and I appologize, I will remove your name from the investigation. – Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 16:34, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
This section was originally from User talk:TrexSwampy
- Dear TrexSwampy,
- You have are the victim of mistaken identity, you are not the first I have done this to, this was not intentional, what has happened here is we have many SPA accounts with similar things to say, yours happened to be tagged by another user as a potential spa do to your lack of edits in other topics, of course, the reason for this is you are new to the website and have not yet had the chance to generate a great deal of edits in such a short period of time. It is easy to confuse a new user with a SPA especially when the page has already been canvassed by a whole slew of SPAs, I saw the canvassing tag following immediatley after your name and added you to the list of suspects, the message I sent you was generic, I sent it to all the suspects. Not a single administrator has had time to even review the case yet, so when one does your name has been struk from the list and it is unlikely you should be bothered with it again, you may remove the false charges from the top of your talk page if you wish. Once again I am sorry and I look forward to editing along side you in the future. :) – Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 17:02, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
Dear Phoenix: You have accused me publicly and erroneously of sockpuppetry; I don't know what your motives are here but I have posted one thing to Wikipedia in 6 years and it was in support of Alfred Webre's page remaining up at Wiki. The suggestion by you that there is some 'conspiracy' of mindless babble for a guru when more than one person posts support on an article is borderline hysterical. Mr. Webre has thousands of friends and I am surprised that more of them didn't take the time to give their opinion on his Wiki page. You need to withdraw these completely false charges and think much more carefully and with greater consideration of other people's time and reputations. This has already taken over two hours of my time today; and you have attempted to sully my name, which is fairly public as I use it in many places on the internet. For goodness sake, retract this childish political harassment. It appears that you have made these allegations to harass others and/or gain some fame and notoriety for yourself; neither purpose is acceptable. When someone posts something to thousands of 'friends' on Facebook, don't be surprised if a few of those friends give their opinion on the matter on the same day. You may now strike a line through my name which has no business being on your 'hit' list. MonahawkMonahawk (talk) 18:04, 14 April 2012 (UTC) You may also now apologize to all those you have falsely accused, including me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Monahawk (talk • contribs) 18:11, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
Dear Phoenix, I did not know the 'rules' of Wiki on the subjects of 'meatpuppetry and 'sockpuppetry'...ugly names. Perhaps in the future you and the other 'editors' of Wiki could post a heads up on the rules when you see several people making the same honest mistake on a posting as opposed to the rather public flogging. My apologies for not learning the rules of the Wiki road before posting. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Monahawk (talk • contribs) 19:59, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
To continue on the above; Alfred Webre did not, to my knowledge, ask anyone to edit a Wiki page in his favor. He simply reported the fact that his page was under consideration for deletion. My response was my own, which included posting the original edit. Therefore, my actions do not fit into the meatpuppetry or sockpuppetry category. Monahawk (talk) 20:22, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
I'm tempted to administer a helping of fish for that. The whole purpose of a sockpuppet investigation is that all the accounts named are supposed to be the same chap. You've bundled up accounts that are taking opposing viewpoints, and a bunch of IPs from around the world (in case you hadn't noticed, and you might not have done, the template at the bottom of IP pages allows you to make a guess at where they come from). However, one of the 'socks' has confirmed that they did all turn up after the subject of the Afd mentioned something on Facebook. There's no real action to take here - they are not really being disruptive, and the closing admin will give the appropriate weight to their comments. And if it turns up a few reliable source for notability, everyone has won. --Elen of the Roads (talk) 22:39, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
- OK, I withdrawl the case, I think I jumped to the wrong conclusion. – Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 23:51, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
Dear Phoenix B 1of3
Campus of Kyushu University was nominated deletion in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Campus of Kyushu University, what do you think it, Please tell me in my note how do you think it. I want your wise advice, thanks you.--Hot cake syrup (talk) 04:43, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
- I'll say weak keep for this one, it badly needs to be rewritten, but there is sufficient sourcing to possibly meet WP:GNG. - Phoenix B 1of3 (talk) 18:30, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
