Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Phasmos, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Christian Stavrakis, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines, and may not be retained.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{help me}} on this page, followed by your question, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Questions or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! Sulfurboy (talk) 08:48, 2 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The article Christian Stavrakis has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Restoration?

[edit]

Hello, Phasmos! I saw your note on another talk page, asking for the article Christian Stavrakis to be restored so that you can add references. I can do that, putting it into your own private user space rather than the main encyclopedia. However, I would caution you about two things. One is that you indicated that you ARE Christian Stavrakis. Please read WP:AUTOBIOGRAPHY. Wikipedia discourages people from writing about themselves, although it is not forbidden. Articles that people write about themselves get checked pretty carefully for style (no promotional language) and sourcing (coverage must be significant and references must be independent). The other issue is that Wikipedia has standards for who can have an article here. The criteria can be found at WP:GNG and WP:BIO. Basically, the requirement is that the person must have been written about, in some detail, by sources that are independent of the person and regarded as reliable sources by Wikipedia. In other words, there must be a recognition by outside sources that the person is important enough to write about. Note that IMDb is not accepted as an independent reliable source. Neither are promotional materials, press releases, Facebook pages, etc. If you can provide third-party sources, writing about you and confirming the information in the article, then it will be worth your while to try. If you don't have this kind of coverage, you may do better to wait. Let me know if you want me to put the deleted article into a user space such as User:Phasmos/Christian Stavrakis. --MelanieN (talk) 15:19, 2 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

OK, you can find the draft at User:Phasmos/Christian Stavrakis. Before moving it to article space, you should check with me or another admin to see if it is sufficiently improved that it won't get deleted again. The most important thing is to have Independent Reliable sources as references, and to actually cite them in the text as support for the information. If you don't know how to do that, see WP:Referencing for beginners. --MelanieN (talk) 19:58, 3 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Thegreek147. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Christian Stavrakis".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Christian Stavrakis, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. I have contested this nomination. I see no reason why this page is substantially different or “overtly promotional” from the Wiki pages of any other public figure. Please see the other comments contesting this “speedy deletion.” Phasmos (talk) 16:02, 24 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
