Hello Phaedriel, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:Wickedmain.png) was found at the following location: User:Phaedriel/Today/4. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not re-add the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Please note that it is possible that the image on your page is included vie a template or usebox. In that case, please find a free image for the template or userbox. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 07:20, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

Favoritism

It seems that even Phaedriel displays admin favoritism. (Click on each word) :) --TeckWiz is now R ParlateContribs@ (Let's go Yankees!) 04:11, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

Hey! Not fair! :( Not all are admins... Phaedriel - 04:16, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
That part I knew. But every one since the 11th has been. (Since you're replying below my message, maybe you finally read the message on my user talk saying to reply where I leave the message :)) --TeckWiz is now R ParlateContribs@ (Let's go Yankees!) 04:18, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
Wow, the things you notice when you have nothing better to do with your time. :) Karrmann 04:20, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
Well, I know a lot of admins, and when I check for Phaedriel's person of the day, I've noticed it's been an admin for the past few. (I'm probably causing and edit conflict for Phaedriel right now :)) --TeckWiz is now R ParlateContribs@ (Let's go Yankees!) 04:22, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
Everyone will get a day, regardless of their mop-wielding status, dear - but I just can only have one person each day, and the last streak simply happened to have many admins. But I can think of at least 5 non-admins that will get their days pretty soon, you'll see ;) Btw, I'm glad you like your new userpage! Love, Phaedriel - 04:30, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
Well, you never know. Maybe it is just a coincidence. Sharon has never hit me off as biased, she seems to love each editor equally :) Isn't taht right Sharon? Karrmann 04:35, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
When you're here for 1 year, 2 months, and 26 days (according to the cool auto-counting userbox on my page), you get to know most of the common people/admins. --TeckWiz is now R ParlateContribs@ (Let's go Yankees!) 04:34, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
Well, then that means I have been here longer than you. I have been here over a couple of years buddy ;) Karrmann 04:40, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
Frankly, the thought that I was picking "too many admins" had not ocurred to me until commented here and now. I tend to believe I try to treat everybody equally, admins or not, and in fact some of the best friends I've made here are not. I swear that my selection has not been biased, and that I simply pick people because of their merits, both human and encyclopedic. It's sad to think I may give the idea that I have any kind of preferences or bias when all I try is to cheer people up. Phaedriel - 04:45, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
Phaedriel, I was just kidding! :) --TeckWiz is now R ParlateContribs@ (Let's go Yankees!) 04:47, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
Argh! I'm gonna kill you, Teck :) Why is it so easy to pull my leg? I guess I'm just too naif! ;) Phaedriel - 04:49, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
I guess so. Well, I'm going to go to finish watching the best late at night show ever. It's 12:52 A.M. where I am. PalestineRemembered

Hi, I've added to the discussion over at ANI. His edits are well within the spirit of the block that was imposed on him. He must be granted natural justice, which includes the ability to defend himself. At the moment, his ArbCom case is turning into a circus. His supporters are adding "evidence" in his defence, when no accusations have been made. It makes them sound like a bunch of raving lunatics, and lets his accusers tailor their evidence to counter his defence.

Note that CSN did not impose a permanent ban on him as claimed by John254. There was no consensus, and the original complaint was based on an invalid claim. PR accepted the block during his ArbCom case on my advice in an attempt to keep tempers down, and help the ArbCom case progress in a timely manner. Mark Chovain 05:15, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

I give in but I wish the system would change

Ok, I then give in about writing an article about one of the most famous salsa bands in the world, Los Soneros del Barrio. But I think that the current system for article approval doesn't work. Someone (also a moderator perhaps, or selected by a moderator) with knowledge of salsa bands should _in advance_ make a list of unquestionably acceptable groups for the moderators. So people wanting to contribute to Wikipedia wouldn't have to bang their heads against a weird system. So they could just attempt to write the articles and know in advance that _the topic_ of article course wouldn't be a problem. Maybe this is the wrong forum for discussing this, but then I would appreciate knowing where I should go with this idea. Cmlewan 10:17, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

User page

Would you mind decorating my user page for me? (Or telling me how to) Redmarkviolinist 20:29, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not MySpace. Phaedriel has better things to be doing here on Wikipedia than helping people create personal websites, like administrating and writing the encyclopedia. Phaedriel is too nice to decline these requests, unfortunately, but it really is taking up a lot of her time to deal with all of these side things. --Cyde Weys 03:24, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Somebodys cranky. Anyways, I think you need to take a chill pill dude. Phaedriel likes to do up people's userpages. If you give the time to read her userpage, you will see that she says there that she will do requests for userpages. I know, Wikipedia is not a contest for who has the best userpage, but I find it a little rude to just bite somebodys head off for requesting a user page from someone who openly accepts requests for userpages. If it is taking up a lot of her time, then she can note that. But, it is not your place to come around biting the heads off of people who want a nice userpage. Like take me for instance. I requested that she redo my userpage simply because it was a cluttered mess before she redid it, and it is much neater in its new design. Anyways, my point is that you should let Sharon deciede what she can or can't do, and don't be so harsh to teh other members. Kapeesh? Karrmann 03:41, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
You both mean well, and you are both right. I must confess I am currently swamped with requests, and designing the code for a truly good userpage takes its time. While I love to do so, I must also accept new requests only as I am able to fulfill the pending ones, and I'm the one to blame for not notifying of this at my userpage. I've added a notice declining further requests at least until I clear the ones I already have. Designing userpages is cathartic, creative and a good exercise at wiki markup while helping others; but it's true that we're here to write an encyclopedia, and with so many requests, good time that could be focused to our project is distracted. Again, it's my fault for not clarifying this myself. I'll make sure to do so in the future. Thank you, Cyde and Karrmann, for making me realize of this. Love, Phaedriel - 04:09, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
All I can say is, you've never seen "biting somebody's head off" if you think my comment was it. My comment was civil, albeit a bit hard to swallow for those who are here for unencyclopedic pursuits. --Cyde Weys 14:17, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Strategic Toolkit - why?

Hi Phaedriel. Recently deleted [Strategic Toolkit].

I am pretty new to wikipedia and the last/first article I submitted got deleted "speedy deleted". I tried to enter discussion about this but that seems to have been deleted also. I am a bit confused as the article was relevant, verifiable, objective and did not contain any advertising or policy violation that I am aware of. I am not sure that I have been given any reasons from the nominator other than "I never heard of it" and "self-promotion". Seems a pity as I am hoping to add to the article. As I say - I am new to all of this and need to know why (so I can grieve properly). I have read the relevant policies, deletion processes, guidelines etc.

Davejblair 11:36, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Dear lovely Phaedriel,

I'm in a quandary, and I hope you can help me, as you have helped many others. I've opened up this virtual can of worms, and they just won't fit back in the can. But let me be more specific. This all started with free-spirited Wikipedians making all sorts of articles, templates, infoboxes, and the like all over English Wikipedia, including "Politics of XX" infoboxes for just about every country, citing "fair use" every now and again. Then the Wikimedia Foundation's Board of Directors got serious and passed Wikimedia Foundation Licensing Policy Resolution of 23 March 2007. All sorts of stuff just had to go. One of the things that had to go was commons:Image:SilaTonga.svg, because it was a copyvio and fair use isn't allowed on Commons. So I decided to copy it to English Wikipedia to allow fair use here. Well, I couldn't exactly do that, because the image still existed at Commons, so I took the opportunity to give it a better name in the process, Image:Sila ʻo Tonga — Coat of arms of the Kingdom of Tonga.svg. I then went on to try to justify fair use for the image here. Oh my, compliance with all ten of the criteria in the Wikipedia Non-free content Policy is not so easy as it is made out to be! It turned out that Image:SilaTonga.svg was being used by an *gasp* infobox template Template:Politics of Tonga! Not wanting to violate policy by having an image I knew wasn't free displayed by such a template, I copied the infobox from the template to a new article Infobox Politics of Tonga. I thought this was a good compromise - the infobox could stand on its own as an article (with a somewhat weird name), it could also be used almost like a template via transclusion with a colon, and it wouldn't violate policy because it was in article namespace. I then redirected Template:Politics of Tonga to the infobox article and changed all references (Commons image to English Wikipedia image; infobox template to infobox article), and was proceeding to check my work due to some problems with the new image showing up (in anticipation of proposing deletion for Template:Politics of Tonga), when this gem appeared on my user talk page. How is it that an infobox article "doesn't negate fair use policy"? How is it that doing so "just makes a mess"? Then I found that you had deleted the infobox article via this edit the very same minute, without notice. On my copy of WP:CSD#g6, the text reads as follows: "Housekeeping. Non-controversial maintenance tasks such as temporarily deleting a page in order to merge page histories, performing a non-controversial page move like reversing a redirect, or removing a disambiguation page that only points to a single article." Which of those criteria did the infobox article qualify for? How was the infobox article nominated for "g6"? How did the article get deleted with so many entries at What links here, when all four of the templates used to implement "g6" {{{db-histmerge}}, {{db-move}}, {{db-xfd}}, and {{db-g6}}) require checking of "What links here"?

PLEASE take another look at the situation and consider undeleting Infobox Politics of Tonga.

Thank you for your kind attention to this matter.

Best Regards,   — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 11:42, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Still in the user page business?

Hi Phaedriel, I noted you comment about your willingness to help with user pages. I'm great with finessing articles, but lousy when it comes to ideas or knowledge of the code for making a good user page. I am open for anything from simple ideas to a wholesale reconstruction if you want to spend the time (although I feel a bit guilty for imposing on your time). I really like the idea of the collapseable boxes to put everything into. Oh, and thanks so much for your kind comment on my RfA. Akradecki 20:17, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

Hi Phaedirel, thanks for the reply on my talk page...I'm responding here as there's been a bit of traffic since, and I didn't want the reply to get lost. I really appreciate your willingness to help. I fully understand the time pressure thing, too, so please don't feel any need to rush; if there's a need to back-burner anyone's requests, feel free to make mine the first. Anyway, as for colors, I like forest-y the best - deep greens, browns and redwood-maroons, with attending lighter contrasting colors. I live in a very barren and light brown desert, and I really miss the green of living things! (Okay, that's not really fair, there's a few living things out here, and the desert does have it's strange beauty, but....) As for other ideas, I really like the show-hide boxes to put lots of the stuff, and beyond that, just a nice, clean elegant look like you're so good at doing. Thanks! Hello

While looking around Wikipedia for certain NavFrame (Hide/Show) box, I came across your page (I was searching all over) and I have to say I actually stopped and read your userpage. It is rare I stop and read a userpage, but I did with yours and I have to say that you are the most interesting Wikipedian (and I mean that in a good way) I have come across.

Hi, You deleted the article I created for The Open Organization Of Lockpickers within a few minutes of creation without even adding any note to my user page or talking about it in the discussion page for the article.

It would be appreciated if you could comment or give any suggestions. There are other/similar articles existing in wikipedia and therefore I am at a loss why you would consider this as a7. Looking forward to your response.
