Please could you edit on the page "List of Best Selling Music Artists" the sales of Whitney Houston as it exceeded 220 million copies and on the page it is still reported 200 million. Angiricc05 (talk) 19:06, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The page is working with its own rules, based on certified data collected by some Wikipediators, so I don’t think we can add the 220 million claimed sales before Whitney surpass 170 million certified units on that page Phạm Huy Thông (talk) 16:53, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Please stop editing Beyoncé from the 200 million copies based on bias/opinion. The new discussion you reference did not bring any new merits to discredit the original consensus to include her. The consensus to add Beyonce is based on the article's requirements for inclusion. It's already been discussed and established that as an artist charted in 2002, Beyoncé requires 75.7% of certified units to support her claimed sales. Per the article's definition, artists of Beyoncé's generation require their claimed sales to be supported by over 75% of certified units. Based on the 30% streaming deduction previously discussed, 155 million certified sales supports 77.5% of 200 million sales claims. Beyoncé meets the requirement for claimed sales of 200 million and is deserving.
The news source is an organization that meets the article's requirements. It is an international/reputable news organization that's been established for over 100 years. Same as the Irish Independent used to source Taylor Swift. The removal is based on bias/opinion. TJ 18:26, 8 November 2023 (UTC)

Edit Warning

[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on List of best-selling music artists. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. TJ 21:59, 8 November 2023 (UTC)

You have been blocked from editing from certain pages (Whitney Houston) for a period of 24 hours for edit warring. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 02:50, 27 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm BlueboyLINY. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! BlueboyLINY (talk) 04:02, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi Phạm Huy Thông! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of Taylor Swift several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.

All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree at Talk:Taylor Swift, please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. Please add a source or use the talk page to change the wording. I have added a section to the Taylor Swift talk page so we can get another opinion on this matter. Please post your thoughts there, thank you! House1090 (talk) 07:07, 9 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
