Thanks for adding the link on EFTS to Electronic money article. I have made it a reference rather than an external link. You many also be interested in the Electronic funds transfer and Interlibrary loan pages.

[edit]

Hi, I think our updates to the portal are ready to be put on please :) Marge6914 (talk) 01:21, 11 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I spent a long time figuring out how to do editing in each section. For example, I did something in the section of biography. But I'm sure I did something wrong and I really don't know how to make it right. I noticed someone did editing in the section of selected article and selected picture. I think it might be you? So can you help me please? I don't know how to upload picture actually. Thanks!!Weariness (talk) 05:00, 15 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Destiny (video game), disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Wikipedia is not a WP:GAMEGUIDE. Soetermans. T / C 15:45, 16 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to do anything wrong. Pgrobison (talk) 03:33, 20 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Research request

[edit]

Thanks for your interest and free money for helping improve Wikipedia sounds fine, but I sometimes assist various projects without being a formal member of (I think) any. At the very least, I'm not a member of any of the projects I actively edit around, such as WPWALES and WPCHINA. You might have better luck going to some of the larger WikiProjects and using their lists of active editors.

Speaking for myself, you're asking the wrong questions.

Foreboding TL;DR textwalls on their main pages, disinterest in being directed by cabals of project admins, and a general lack of appreciation/personal invitations to join from existing project members in areas that I already am interested in are all more of an impediment than the need to automate anything. Without fixing 1 & 3, I'm not even on their list; without fixing 2, I'm not interested in receiving their new and improved way to direct labor. Actually improving participation would involve shunting most of the crap on the current main pages to tabs, leaving an intro text and some very large, friendly buttons (not texty, small-print, overdone infoboxes) with a few easy-to-understand categories like "JOIN" [become a member], "HELP US IMPROVE" [moving pages up the quality scale], "REQUESTS" [active page creation and other requests], "TOOLS" [introducing and providing templates and scripts that will streamline work on articles dealing with a given topic, as {{lang-cy}} for WPWALES], "WORKGROUPS" [focus on your passion!], "POLICIES" [links to model layouts and project-specific MOS entries], &c.

Shift the intro pages from streamlining things for the existing users and towards introducing the projects to prospective new editors and make a concerted effort at avoiding NOOB-BITING textwalls and policy creep and you'll've fixed most of what needs fixing. — LlywelynII 01:55, 6 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
