Namibia moves up in FIFA ranking

The Brave worriers cllimbed seven positions to be now ranked 108 in the world according to the latest FIFA rankings which were released yesterday (03 October 2012). Namibia is currently ranked eighth in the SADC region and 32nd in Africa [1]. The brave worriers were ranked 117 in the world, and 8th in Africa in the FIFA rankings which were released on the 3rd of July 2012. Namibia is moving towards a recognisable FIFA ranking position but they still have alot of effort to put in for them to reach the top 1oo FIFA ranking position.

National friendly matchces

BRAVE Warriors coach Bernard Kaanjuka said he was worried about Namibia's lack of preparation ahead of their two friendly matches against Rwanda in October and November.

Namibia Football Association president John Muinjo said that Namibia would play two friendly matches against Rwanda on FIFA dates over the next two months. The first encounter will be in Windhoek between October 12 and 16, while the second encounter will be in Rwanda on November 14 [2].

Youngsters in the Namibian team

The Namibian football team has alot of youngsters in the team, the likes of Benson Shilongo (20 years old) a striker currently playing in South Africa for Blackburn Rovers FC, Sydney Urikhob (20 years old) a striker currently playing for Civics FC in Namibia, Petrus Shitembi (20 years old) a midfielder currently playing for Rundu Chiefs FC in Namibia, Willy Stephanus (21 years old) a midfielder currently playing for Black Africa FC in Namibia, Steven Sabatha (21 years old) a defender currently playing for Pirates FC in Namibia, Larry Horaeb (20 years old) a defender currently playing for Ramblers FC in Namibia and our starting goalkeeper Virgil Vries (21 years old) who was playing in South Africa for Carara Kicks and is now back in Namibia playing for Orlando Pirates. All this yougsters made a name for themselves this year in the senior national team and are they are still in the u/23 national team.
