North Rocks

[edit]

Can you please explain to me the criteria for calculating distances from the CBD?. The entry for North Rocks that you have re-instated is wrong. By road the shortest distance is 24 klms, as the crow flies it is 20 klms, how did you arrive at 26 klms?. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Peterjmcgrath (talk • contribs) 09:12, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

My reference material is 'The Book of Sydney Suburbs', Compiled by Frances Pollen, Angus & Robertson Publishers, 1990, Published in Australia ISBN 0-207-14495-8. It lists all the Sydney suburb distances from the Sydney CBD by road. There may be a shorter route since 1990. Do you have any other references? J Bar 01:40, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The reference I used was my Tom Tom GPS with the latest mapping information. You can also verify this if you own a GPS which allows route plannng. The North Rocks Post Office is at Westfield North Rocks (328-336 North Rocks Rd North Rocks), The Sydney GPO is at 1 Martin Place. Shortest Route calculation gives me 24.3 Klms. Google earth with its ruler function can give you the "straight line" distance.--Peterjmcgrath 06:25, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

I suspect they probably use a new route via the M2, which is fair enough. J Bar 06:45, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

please look at other suburb articles
