Upload

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:202588.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: TemplateName.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. --OrphanBot 06:58, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image Tagging for Image:Imagesdsss.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Imagesdsss.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Vandalism Protection

[edit]

You definitely should ask an administrator to Vandalism Lock Crisis Zone since there's a pesky AOL user who's been reverted two times for using nonsense to discredit the game. I will tell an administrator to do so as well. — Mark Kim (Reply/Start Talk) 02:06, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Protection

[edit]

Hi Pete, sorry but the user is an AOL IP, which means the person who vandalised then will not be the person vandalising the other article. There has also not been "enough" vandalism to the article for it to be protected, see WP:PPOL for more info, and when an article can be protected; also the vandalism appears to have died down, so there is no need to worry: revert! If the vandalism get to something like this, the protection can come in. If there are any other things you need me for, or you wish for me to protect the article when vandalism gets out of hand, feel free to contact me on my talk page. Thanks! Kilo-Lima|(talk) 19:06, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You really don't need to keep reverting positive edits on Hamden Hall. Please check to see if the previous edit is factual and properly placed before you revert from it. --Eldari 22:18, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RfA

[edit]

I suggest you finish creating the RfA before adding it to the RfA page. I did remove it to try and give you time to fix it, but you just blind reverted me, no edit summary or anything. Malformed RfAs normally garner an amazing amount of oppose votes. --Lord Deskana Dark Lord of the Sith 01:00, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Alright. This entire discussion also will be purged shortly. RadioKirk talk to me 03:00, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:About to land in phoenix.PNG. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the GFDL-self tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Lord Deskana Dark Lord of the Sith 16:41, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Taken care of. peteg913 16:46, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You've retagged it as fair use. That's good. But you still haven't specified the image source as requested. I am obligated to retag the image using nsd. Please specify the image source. In addition, fair use images cannot be used in userspace. Please see WP:FAIR. Thank you. --Lord Deskana Dark Lord of the Sith 17:44, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The image source is my computer. peteg913 17:47, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If I may reiterate the point made by Lord Deskana, fair use laws require that a copyrighted image be used as a pictorial representation of a subject (see fair use criteria), so this image could only be used on the article page for the game itself or in some sort of comparison article that does not violate WP:NOT. If you have any questions, please ask. :) RadioKirk talk to me 20:34, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Thanks again

[edit]

I believe you will find that most admins are "reasonable", which is why AmiDaniel unblocked you following discussion with Glen and me. Even Glen admitted his position was "off base."

"I will create a god damn archive when I have time" is not a threat per se, but it certainly violates WP:CIVIL. Even in situations where an editor feels (s)he is being incivil in response to someone else's incivility, it is always wise to take the high road instead; once you hit "send", your words are in the history forever, except in rare cases (security issues, etc.). As for removing data from the talk page, anyone can, though it's considered polite to archive them instead (see my talk page for an example of on-site archiving, which is preferred); however, WP:VAND#Types of vandalism states, "Removing warnings for vandalism or other issues from one's talk page may also be considered vandalism", and that should apply to administrators, as well. If you feel an admin is circumventing that guideline, you should bring it up (as civilly as possible, naturally) at the Administrators' noticeboard.

Hope this helps. RadioKirk talk to me 17:37, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Absolutely positive. This isn't just Wikipolicy, it's the law. RadioKirk talk to me 20:56, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
A self-taken photo of you playing the game might be acceptable, with appropriate copyright acknowledgement, if the most prominent feature of the image is you. And, you wish me to delete Image:About to land in phoenix.PNG, correct? RadioKirk talk to me 21:01, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your VandalProof Application

[edit]

Dear Peteg913,

Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact with the new 1.2 version release it has even more power. As such we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that for security reasons, VandalProof's creator requires it's users to have made 250 edits to articles, which you have not. Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again in the not too distant future. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof.

Re: Modifying your sig

[edit]

See here. Hope this helps. RadioKirk talk to me 23:48, 10 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Um... well, yeah, it's nice, but you'll have to give some of it up. WP:SIG recommends no more than 300 characters, and yours is 418 (not including the date). Some editors will just up and change it so they don't have to navigate though all that code, so cut it down and you won't have to deal with that. RadioKirk talk to me 00:38, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, unfortunately, you're counting the result, not the code. The code to create the result is 418:

<font color="blue">M</font><font color="red">r</font><font color="green">.</font> <font color="orange">B</font><font color="turquoise">a</font><font color="yellow">g</font><font color="purple">e</font><font color="magenta">l</font> <small><font color="green">leave me one</font></small><font color="maroon" size="1px">peteg913</font>

RadioKirk talk to me 00:44, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies but, basically, you can't. You will have to give up some of the exposition. Even when you get it under 300 characters, some users will complain, so be ready. RadioKirk talk to me 00:57, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I meant you can't decrease the number of characters and make it look exactly as it does now, sorry I wasn't clear. And, as for Stollery's, I haven't looked, but any sig over 300 characters can be changed at any time. RadioKirk talk to me 01:09, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hehe 297... that will work when dealing with most users. RadioKirk talk to me 02:02, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Whew, that's bright

Some would say "eye gouging" but that's a matter of taste.

I don't mind an incandescent signature to some point. I can recognize a colour faster than a letter, so they are still doing the job in identifying the editor. And I could care less about length, I have never had even one second's issue with sorting the comment from the code. Even if I did, I'd just use preview.

But shave a monkey and call him dad, yours is distracting. I humbly present a gallery of possible styles.

[edit]

Having a totally different username than your sig is done, but it's easier on everyone for there to be some correlation. If you choose to continue as "Mr. Bagel" why not ask for a name change? Also noting that there are two links to the user page in the current sig, there's no loss in functionality by dropping the redundant pastry. (Note that here the talk links are fake: They go to WP:TODO instead of here, so that you can see what the sig would look like elsewhere.)

Again, using the TODO link to show what it will look like on other pages. I still thinks that "leave me one" is a bit too long, just balance wise. A short Esperanzial update

[edit]

As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.

As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.

Thanks and kind, Esperanzial regards, —Celestianpower háblame 16:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

August Esperanza Newsletter

[edit]
Program Feature: To-Do List
The Esperanza To-Do List is a place where you may list any request, big or small, for assistance. If you need help with archiving your usertalk, for example, all you need to do is list it here and somebody will help you out. Likewise, if you need help with some area of editing on Wikipedia, list it here! Again, any matter, trivial or not, can be placed on this page. However, all matters listed on this page must not be of an argumentative nature. You do not need to be a member of Esperanza (or this program) to place or fulfill requests on this page. If you don't have any requests, consider coming by and fulfilling a few! This program has not been very active, but has lots of potential!
What's New?
In order to help proposed programs become specific enough to make into full-fledged programs, the In development section of the proposals page has been created. Proposals that are promising, but need to be organized in more detail are listed here. Please take a look at what is there, and help the proposals turn into programs.
To improve both the layout and text of the front page, in an attempt to clarify the image of Esperanza, the front page is going to have some redesigning take place. Please take your creative minds to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Front page redesign to brainstorm good ideas.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
 1. In order to make sure all users who join Esperanza are welcomed, a list of volunteers who are willing to welcome new Esperanzians is at Wikipedia:Esperanza/Members#Esperanza_welcomers. Please add yourself if you are interested; we want to make sure all new Esperanza members are welcomed!
 2. The In development section of the proposals page has been created.
 3. Proposals page: Some proposals have been moved to the aforementioned "In development" section, some have been left as a proposal, and others have been archived. For those proposals that were a good idea but didn't necessarily constitute a program, General Esperanzial Actions has been created.
 4. Two small pieces of charter reform will be decided on in a straw poll at Wikipedia talk:Esperanza/Governance. One involves filling the position of any councillors who may leave, the other involves reforming the charter.
 5. Until cooperation with the Kindness Campaign is better defined, it remains as a proposed program.
 6. There is a page for discussing the front page redesign.

September Esperanza Newsletter

[edit]
Program Feature: Barnstar Brigade
Here in Wikipedia there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors!
What's New?
September elections are upon us! Anyone wishing to be a part of the Advisory Council may list themselves as a candidate from 18 September until 24 September, with the voting taking place from 25 September to 30 September. Those who wish to help with the election staff should also list themselves!
Appreciation Week, a program currently in development, now has its own subpage! Share your good ideas on how to make it awesome there!
The Esperanza front page has been redesigned! Many thanks to all who worked hard on it.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
 1. The proposals page has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
 2. Since the program in development Appretiaion week is getting lots of good ideas, it now has its own subpage.
 3. The September 2006 Council elections will open for nominations on 18 September 2006. The voting will run from 25 September 2006 until 30 September 2006. If you wish to be a candidate or a member of the elections staff, please list yourself!
 4. The new Esperanza front page design has but put up - many thanks to all who worked on it!
 5. TangoTango has written a script for a bot that will list new members of Esperanza, which will help those who welcome new Esperanzains greatly!

Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
 • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
 • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
 • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
 • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
 • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
 • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.

Concordia Newsletter

[edit]

NEWSLETTER

Concordia is currently trying to relaunch. I, and all the members of the ex-council, wish to welcome new members to the group. We are a group who aim to promote remaining civil, in an environment where messages can easily be interpretated wrongly.

Help out now!

[edit]
 • Try and help people remain civil! Talk to them, and help them in any way possible. Do not be afraid to use the talk page.
 • Give people the Civility Barnstar.
 • Make and spread some Wikitokens so people know there are people to help if they want assistance.
 • Add banners or logos to your userpage to show your support.
 • Suggest some ideas! Add 'em to the talk page.

We are a community, so can only work though community contributions and support. It's the helping that counts.

Decision Making

[edit]

The council expired one month ago, but due to the current position of the group the current council will remain until the position of the group can be assessed, and whether it would be sensible to keep Concordia going. For most decisions, however, it will be decided by all who choose to partake in discussions. I am trying to relaunch because of the vast amounts of new members we have received, demonstrating that the aims are supported.

If you wish to opt of of further talk-page communications, just let us know here.

Thanks for uploading File:Tweed New Haven Airport Logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. File permission problem with File:Hvnaerial112011.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Hvnaerial112011.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

 • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
 • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add OTRS pending to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. multichill (talk) 23:15, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Reviewer permission

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged revisions, underwent a two-month trial which ended on 15 August 2010. Its continued use is still being discussed by the community, you are free to participate in such discussions. Many articles still have pending changes protection applied, however, and the ability to review pending changes continues to be of use.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under level 1 pending changes and edits made by non-reviewers to level 2 pending changes protected articles (usually high traffic articles). Pending changes was applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't grant you status nor change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.

If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:31, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Daytona Beach International Airport, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Compass Airlines (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Adrianne Wadewitz Memorial edit-a-thons

[edit]
Adrianne Wadewitz edit-a-thons in Southern New England

As you may have already heard, the Wikipedia community lost an invaluable member of the community last month. Adrianne Wadewitz was a feminist scholar of 18th-Century British literature, and a prolific editor of the site. As part of a worldwide series of tributes, New England Wikimedians, in conjunction with local institutions of higher learning, have created three edit-a-thons that will be occurring in May and June. The events are as follows:

We hope that you will be able to join us, whether you are an experienced editor or are using Wikipedia for the first time.

If you have any questions, please leave a message at Kevin Rutherford's talk page. You can unsubscribe from future notifications for Boston-area events by removing your name from this list.

Notice

The file File:Hvnairportdiagram1311.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Orphaned image, use File:HVN Airport Diagram.svg instead.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. --TheImaCow (talk) 11:02, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
