Notability of White buffalo NYLT

The article White buffalo NYLT has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article, which appeared to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

White buffalo NYLT is a local implementation of National Youth Leadership Training. I see no way to establish notability when we don't even have a full article on the parent Greater Niagara Frontier Council, but we do have a NYLT article. As I understand the the new NYLT rules, courses will no longer be able to have local names such as White Buffalo. ---— Gadget850 (Ed) ^talk 03:07, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

Additionally, the general rule is that local versions of national-scope organizations are not notable. In the same way it applies to local chapters of a fraternity or individual scout troups, so would it apply to a single course. —C.Fred (talk) 03:10, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of White buffalo NYLT

A tag has been placed on White buffalo NYLT requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

The problem with White buffalo, and why User:DGG deleted it this most recent time, is that it is an organization that is not notable. It does not meet any of the specific notability criteria for organizations (WP:ORG), nor does it meet the general notability guidelines. To be generally notable, it must have received coverage in independent reliable sources—newspapers, magazines, etc. No evidence of such coverage has been presented.

It is also becoming clear that you have a conflict of interest with the subject. While you are not prohibited from writing about subjects you have a close relationship with, it is even more critical that you back up claims in the article with secondary sources. First-hand knowledge is not sufficient when writing an article. —C.Fred (talk) 03:28, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
