Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Perth CC, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms our use and policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! maybe not obvious but

[edit]

WP:NOT and WP:ABOUT - and WP:USERNAME - unless can be proven otherwise - organisations or people do not write about themselves or have accounts in their own name(s) - it is not a blog or website - but an online encyclopedia that considers that material is from WP:RS, is not WP:OR and information added is WP:V.

As you/ or someone else tried in 2013 to start the article - it is interesting that 5 years pass, and it is edited again.

if you are interested

[edit]

There are local wikipedians with whom you you could either meet via email or phone, or even attend one of their meetings who could help you if you so wished with the issues of the article. Please do not leave personal details here, but if you are interested - try the email link - and we can provide more information... JarrahTree 13:57, 26 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Please note that everything you add to an article must be verified with a reliable source. The burden is with you to provide sources for everything you add to WP. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 13:18, 27 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Longhair\talk 23:14, 27 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Hi can you please unblock me. I dont understand the reasoning for the block. there is no financial benefit to me. nothing that needs to be disclosed. I am not advertising anything. i am simply adding information relevant to the Wikipage for Perth Cricket Club. I am the club historian and am adding some more information to our page about the history of the club. thanks hope you get this message ,.... i couldnt locate my 'talk page' and there is no 'discussion' tab at the top fo the page ...that the little video clip illustrated. You guys at WP could really make this a LOT easier. it is a very difficult system really. thanks Perth CC / brad

Decline reason:

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I dont think you get it... I am the club historian and am adding some more information to our page about the history
You have been left messages, and you appear to not acknowledge or register the issues that arise...
You should have seen the messages - ok you may not be paid, but...

Organisations do not write their own material - which is why the links to - WP:COI, WP:ABOUT, WP:NOT have been left as indications of the issues.

You cannot edit from a WP:USERNAME account that link you to the subject. Which is a reason for blocking.
You can request a change of name, and also would help if acknowledge you understand that when you have messages, that you understand the ramifications of what your editing entails. You can be seen, as the club historian, advertising the club, editing with the user name that implies that you are promoting the club.
The difficulty is the lack of acknowledging the messages, and showing you understand the issues.
Also try getting a handle on WP:RS - in order to make your editing more legitimate in view of the requirements of an article having added material for WP:V to prevent the perception of WP:OR.
You can ask for help. Also when you leave messages, learn to WP:SIGN.
You have been offered help, and there was no reply. Please get a handle on talk pages, messages, and find a new username, and also get used to adding reliable sources, and you are in again! Hopefully. JarrahTree 13:52, 28 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • (edit conflict) You have located your talk page, this is it. I'm not sure what video you saw but that might have referred to article talk pages. In any event, are you not paid as club historian? You do need to declare your conflict of interest(click those words to review the conflict of interest policy) even if you are not paid.
As Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, it is only interested in what independent reliable sources with significant coverage state about article subjects. It has no interest in what a subject wants to say about itself. If you just want to tell about your club's history, you should do that on a website operated by the club. If your club's history is published or discussed in independent sources, it may be possible to include here, but due to your conflict of interest you should not do so directly, instead you should make edit requests on the article talk page(Talk:Perth Cricket Club). To be unblocked, you will need to agree to edit about your club only with edit requests, and if you want to edit about subjects other than your club, tell what those might be. 331dot (talk) 13:56, 28 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
