Greek or Hellenic(?) cuisine
--89.210.25.196 (talk) 11:51, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
Re: Contributing to other wikipedia versions with the same name?
[edit]I'm afraid that you will need to create a copy of your userpage on every different wiki that you contribute to. You will also need to create accounts on those wikis if you wish to have your contributions attributed to you. You could always have your alternative userpages as soft redirects to your pages on a different wiki. Hope that helps. haz (talk) 19:42, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
- You will need to create an account, but not necessarily a userpage...... Dendodge .. TalkHelp 19:43, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi, and welcome to the WikiProject Greece! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to Greece.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our sidebar points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The Announcements and Open tasks section is updated quite regularly. You can watchlist it if you're interested; or, you can add it directly to your user page by including {{WPGreeceOpenTasks}} there.
- Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is recommended that you watchlist it.
- The project has a monthly newsletter; it will normally be delivered as a link, but several other formats are available.
There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:
- Interested in working on a more complete article? The peer review department of the project would welcome your help!
- Interested in a particular area of Greek history, geography, culture etc. ? There is already one task force, and you could initiate the creation of more focusing on specific topics or periods.
- Want to know how good our articles are? The assessment department is working on rating the quality of every military history article in Wikipedia.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to any experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around!
User:Pel thal/Dionysios Solomos (από ότι καταλαβαίνω απο το περιεχόμενο της πρώτης υποσελίδας).
:-) NikoSilver 21:13, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Uploading images from other WP versions
[edit]I'm working on an article, translating it from Greek into English. The Greek article has uploaded images etc. May I copy the images from another WP version (e.g. the Greek WP) to the English WP? Otherwise the article looks so dull... Sorry if this question has been asked many times before! I'm relatively new to WP... Please answer on my talk page if possible. Pel thal (talk) 15:43, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
- You might want to see if the images exist at Commons, when they can be used in any language or project under the same name. Which article did you have in mind? SpencerT♦C 15:48, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
- I see which article. For example, this can be used here, as it is on commons. SpencerT♦C 15:50, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
- Added to the article. I looked of the article, and I would recommend trying to find sources for as much as you can. See also WP:CITE. SpencerT♦C 15:55, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
- No problem. If you have any questions, you can always ask on my talk page. Cheers, SpencerT♦C 16:11, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Re: Tourism and Laikes agores
[edit]Hello. The City of Athens in its website says: "Οι λαϊκές αγορές της Αθήνας είναι μια εμπειρία που αξίζει να ζήσει όποιος θέλει να γνωρίσει την πραγματική εικόνα της Αθήνας." this being said in the "for visitors" (ie for tourists) section of the City of Athens's website. Since the government connects the laikes agores with tourism and recommends tourists to visit a laiki agora, I think it would be a good idea to note the existence of the article laiki agora on the Tourism in Greece article. Note that there are two kinds of tourists: the tourists who go with the "mainstream" and visit places made with tourists in mind such as museums etc, and the tourists who wish to live the authentic local every-day culture of a place, and thus they prefer to visit "everyday" places like a laiki agora where they can see what people do in their everyday lives, how they work, how they buy and sell things, etc, and of course there are lots of tourists who do both. Thus, the link is there for the tourists who enjoy to meet the locals in their everyday lives and understand the local culture. That said, if you believe you can improve something, feel free to do so! NerdyNSK (talk) 10:51, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
Cookbook
[edit]Hello Pel!
I was looking for some Greek recipes and this is what I found:
This page has been deleted. The deletion log for the page is provided below for reference.
14:08, 25 May 2008 Mike.lifeguard (Talk | contribs) deleted "Cookbook:Greek cuisine" (Nonsense, spam or vandalism only page)
With other words, the Greek cookbook is gone. Do you know how to fix that??
Warrington (talk) 14:01, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
Hello from Athens! I didn't quite understand your ==comment on my talk page;
Lowely place!
What I meant was that the link to the Cookbook ( the link which looks like a little book, similar to this) on the Greek cuisine article page is empty. Not so good for the article, you know. I thougt that you know something about it since you have worked on that article before. Was it always empty?+
But I will ask an administrator.

Macedonia request for comment
[edit]Since you have in the past taken part in related discussions, this comes as a notification that the Centralized discussion page set up to decide on a comprehensive naming convention about Macedonia-related naming practices is now inviting comments on a number of competing proposals from the community. Please register your opinions on the RfC subpages 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.

Help needed for checking translations
[edit]Hello! Please have a look at this. We are currently in the process of compiling a worklist, but if you are willing to help, please let us know. I know it is onerous and tedious work, but any help, even for a couple of articles, would be appreciated. Constantine ✍ 22:34, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hi. I was wondering if you would be interested in contributing articles to Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic)? It needs contributors to increase diversity of content from different countries and bring about large scale improvements. The idea at some point will be to host a National Contest related to your country of interest. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:15, 21 September 2016 (UTC)
Europe 10,000 Challenge invite
[edit]Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:09, 7 November 2016 (UTC)
