Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Peiqi.goh. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Integrated Health Information Systems, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Justanothersgwikieditor (talk) 03:43, 11 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, this list is very helpful! The edits I have made to the page was supported by accredited news sources. Is there any thing in particular I should take note? The edits were mainly copied from The Straits Times article. Appreciate further notes so I can contribute correctly. Thanks! Peiqi.goh (talk) 00:40, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, if you have any conflict of interest, particularly, you are working for IHiS now (regardless of a direct employee, intern or simply paid to update the wikipedia article), you will need to follow the COI guidelines, mainly by declaring your affiliation with IHiS on your userpage. If you are not related in anyway as listed in the guideline, it will be good that you declare it (like saying you are not related to IHiS in a reply here will do) too.
I saw your update and it looks good. Generally if we are to use someone else's words or quotes, we need to quote it also (example we need to write as, ABC said "Wikipedia is the best online encyclopedia I ever know" so we know the line is said by him and attributed to him or we can just rephrase it to something like, ABC claimed that Wikipedia is the best online encyclopedia.)
I am going to put a welcome template below (nothing to worry about) so you can slowly read through it (it can be a handful). Generally, I will advise new editors to look at similar articles to have a feel on how best to write / improve articles. I am still checking against other well written articles to see if my approach is correct. Justanothersgwikieditor (talk) 01:32, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.
