I just wanted to mention here that I removed the entry I made about Buffy Sainte-Marie using a Jews Harp. I've been watching a documentary about her and it shows her playing a different kind of instrument that has a very similar sound - a mouth bow. I was wrong. ;-) So the error is now corrected.
