Common name capitalization

[edit]

Are you familiar with Wikipedia:TOL#Common name capitalization? I don't really have a strong opinion (and I don't have my reference books handy to see what they do in the case of plants or insects), but you should at least be aware of the potentially controversial nature of common name capitalization decisions before you change the capitalization of existing articles (for example here). I reverted your changes because your edit summary said "no change to content", which is extremely misleading based on the extensive changes you made. Some of them seemed to have value, and others did not add to the article. I'd suggest you make related changes in single edits, with informative edit summaries, so other editors can more easily evaluate your contributions. Please do not capitalize common names, though; the general style in botanical articles, and the explicit recommendation of WP:MOS is that they be lower case.--Curtis Clark (talk) 18:17, 1 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
