As you seem to be interested in the history of southern Thailand we probably will meet in editing sometimes, as it is also one of my favourite fields. However I am limited to english sources of these topics, which are rather limited, my Thai is still far from being able to read Thai books. Here are some interesting links, in case you haven't found them yet: Portal:Thailand and the Wikipedia:Thailand-related topics notice board. Hope you will enjoy your editing here and contribute a lot of knowledge difficult to access otherwise. andy 21:25, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lavo

[edit]

The Lavo article is really good, but I think maybe it'd be better moved to History of Lopburi, which then could be referenced by putting something like

at the top of the history sections of Lopburi Province, Amphoe Mueang Lopburi and thesaban mueang Lopburi article. I also tried to copyedit the article to improve its English (which is probably still not perfect as I am also not a native speaker) and make it more clear for non-Thai readers. Yet I cannot fully understand what that King Kakabatr actually did - did he just introduce the Chulasakarat year counting to Lavo? Or start a new dynasty of Tai rulers of Lavo? andy 21:06, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion

[edit]

Hey, I quite like what you did in the History of Thailand, adding all the Pre-Sukhothai Kingdoms. I totally agree with what you are doing, as Thai history has been grossly simplified in the old article. Anyhow, I would like to suggest that the name of the article should perhaps be Pre-historic and Ancient kingdoms of Siam, rather than Intial states of Thailand. Banchiang for example would be considered as Pre-historic and anything else before Sukhothai (all the Indianised states) should be considered as part of the Ancient period (of Thai history). Hello, Thanks for your helpful suggestions. I've just finished the Prehistoric Thailand. However I'd like to keep the name "Initial states of Thailand" rather than "Ancient Kingdoms of Thailand". Because no scholars assert the political policy of those states are just the small states compare to ancient Indian states before King Ashoka era or as the kingdom of his period and other kingdoms after, by following the Chakravardiraj or Chakravardiwatra concept. From rank amateur

[edit]

An anonymous source sent me an article on scholar Srisakra Vallibhotama. Searching his name led me to you, via the article where you cite him. I'm a farang in Yasothon & have initated only one, very amateurish page: Wat_Phra_That_Phanom last modified 09:36, 10 September 2007. Didn't even get the name right: should have bee Chedi Phra That Phanom.
