Authors note: proposal

  • 400 or more
  • 300 to 399
  • 250 to 299
  • 200 million to 249. Only to 200 millions.

Since certifications are a more solid reference than some journalist guessing a number, put certification as the main number unless we have a "total" that includes certifications too. Because these certify the sales.

Streaming is here to stay. And if the companies that certify exact figures accept streaming, we would also have to accept it on this list since we collect official figures instead of making evaluations about those numbers.

With "claimed sales" we have a dichotomy.

  1. "total claimed sales" this should include all kinds of sales. Digital and streaming too.
  2. or we convert it to something that says "physical units".

start of draft / proposal.
