42nd Street Shuttle
[edit]I know that you're trying to help with this whole 42nd Street Shuttle page-naming fiasco, and know that your help is appreciated. However, I'm not exactly sure what you just did here, but it's sort of messed up the edit histories on those pages. The article's real edit history is still here, and is now isolated. I have placed another move request, and someone should be along to fix it shortly. From now on, though, it really would be best if you refrained from whatever method you use to circumvent blocked moves and stick with move requests instead. Larry V (talk | contribs) 18:30, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, I have discovered that this mess is now far more complex than previously thought, and not because of you. I've found the original shuttle article at S - Grand Central/Times Square Shuttle (New York City Subway service). Now another move request will have to be made, along with a history merge. If it's not too much to ask, please refrain from editing any article about the 42nd Street Shuttle until I'm sure that this mess has been resolved. I've already asked Marc Shepherd to do the same. Thanks for your cooperation; this Imdanumber1 character is really starting to get on my nerves. Oh, how I wish I were an admin now! --Larry V (talk | contribs) 18:44, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
- I've decided to go to Cecropia with the situation, in the hopes that he, as a sysop, can fix this disgusting mess. --Larry V (talk | contribs) 19:08, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
Excuse me for the mess. Maybe I should have talked about this on the discussion page on the article. I guess this is my fault. Many apologies. --imdanumber1 15:14, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
Would it be wrong to remove any cartoons listed past 2003 in this article and the template as anything past 2003 is not officially called a Cartoon Cartoon, thereby returning credibility to the article? Ryulong 00:32, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
- Going to work on it then. Ryulong 00:34, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
- And done. Ryulong 00:47, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for helping out with the problem in the Trivia section for this page. You might want to keep an eye on it, though. I deleted the same sections a few days ago and someone keeps putting them back. Thanks again for the assist! --EricaElBee 07:22, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
The reason why I restored Template:Fact on YTMND in the eBaum's section was because while there are indeed two sources there, they don't justify the entire paragraph. —this is messedr͏̈ocker

No copyright issue
[edit]I don't think we will run into any copyright issues with those icons. I used the tag that says, "This image is ineligible for copyright and therefore is in the public domain, because it consists entirely of information that is common property and contains no original authorship." Since this tag is used with the subway bullets that were probably taken from the MTA, I don't think we will have a problem using the icons here. --Imdanumber1 ( Talk | contribs) 14:33, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

Side by side denotations continued
[edit]Using side by side symbols is actually a good idea. I added them and they don't look bad being clustered. I have already added them and they look fine. Thanks for your suggestion. If there is anything else you think the table should have, let me know. I would take deep thinking, and if it sound good, I will use it. I want to make sure that we have a table that everyone can agree on before we hold a consensus at WP:NYCS. Again, thanks. --Imdanumber1 ( Talk | contribs) 01:44, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

Hudson Highlands image
[edit]I took that picture out of the article for a variety of reasons.
- It was unclear what it meant to illustrate. You put it in the geography section ... the skyline image in the infobox is meant to convey a general sense of the city site as described there (I walked out onto the bridge one summer morning for it ... it better!). I don't see how a picture of the view from Newburgh tells me something about the geography of the city itself.
- It is inaccurately captioned. Beacon Mountain, which takes up most of the background view, is for the most part not part of HH state park. The city of Beacon has its main reservoir between the summits and Scofield Ridge behind it, so it owns a lot of the land up there. Scenic Hudson and various private landowners have the rest.
- It is compositionally flawed. I've been to that area many times, and it's rather easy to take a picture there of the view across the river that does not prominently feature the back of a street sign right in the middle of it.
- It is technically flawed. It seems to be underexposed and whatever sharpening was used left the sky looking artificial.
- Also, not that this would be fatal but there is a typo in the image name ("HIghlands" instead of "Highlands").
I hope not to deter you from contributing to articles about the Hudson Valley region, however. Daniel Case 05:49, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:Metro Center.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Metro Center.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Hbdragon88 05:13, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
Creating a new template for LACMTA Transitways.
[edit]I saw that you created the templates for the Metro Rail system stations and I was wondering if you might be willing to help create a similar template for the 3 Metro Transitways. I would love it to look just as the current Metro Rail one does. The only problem with the current one is the ability to say for example "Harbor Transitway" instead of "Harbor Transitway Line" and also to display a line color, independent of the name, (Silver, for the El Monte Busway and Bronze for the Harbor Transitway). I hate to bother you but this is really out of the scope of my knowledge. Thanks! RickyCourtney 05:31, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Bus depots
[edit]If you look at Fresh Pond Bus Depot, I'm linking to articles like Myrtle Avenue Line (surface) that detail the history of the line. --NE2 18:32, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
- There's nothing wrong with a red link that will eventually become blue. --NE2 18:46, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
- Now the links are in different places depending on whether the current route is more than one of the old lines. You also restored the colored text, which makes it unclear that there is a link there (I didn't realize it until I checked the diff) and looks tacky without conveying any useful information. I do see the point about the two columns being redundant; I'll see what I can do on Ulmer Park Bus Depot. --NE2 19:27, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
- What's your opinion of how Ulmer Park Bus Depot is now? One minor result is that Manhattan Bridge will no longer link to the bridge on East New York Bus Depot. --NE2 19:30, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
By the way, is the B20 supposed to be in both East New York Bus Depot and Fresh Pond Bus Depot? --NE2 19:47, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
Format of bus lists
[edit]I think it would be a good idea to list the buses by borough rather than depot, since that would be easier to maintain and is what a reader would expect. What do you think? --NE2 20:45, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
- User:NE2/List of bus lines in Brooklyn is how I'd design it. --NE2 21:36, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
That makes sense to me; note that none of the links need to be changed because of redirects. --NE2 01:25, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
NYCS station names
[edit]I'm going to start a review process for some of these ridiculous station article names that have been recently implemented, including incredibly long names, as well as invented names. It would be a great help if you could add this category to any articles that you feel fit this description: Category:NYCS stations with names to be reviewed. Be liberal about this; it's not like this is a mark of death or anything, just a starting point for discussion. Larry V (talk | contribs) 06:58, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Seventh Avenue
[edit]Hey, I'd like to know your opinion on this. As you probably know, the station located at Seventh Avenue and 53rd Street in Manhattan is shared by the Queens Boulevard and Sixth Avenue lines. As such, the article name would normally be "Seventh Avenue (New York City Subway)". However, there is another Seventh Avenue station in Brooklyn, on the Brighton Line. Now, Imdanumber1 wants to leave the 53rd Street station as "Seventh Avenue (New York City Subway)" and add (yet another) {{Otheruses4}} tag. I understand where he's coming from, but I find this problematic because it subtly implies that the Manhattan station is somehow "above" the Brooklyn one, since it has the somewhat lofty "New York City Subway" suffix, and the Brooklyn one has just "BMT Brighton Line". In addition, it relies on the dab link to tell the user, "Oh yeah, despite the fact that there's 'New York City Subway' in the title, there happens to be another station somewhere else". But which line to pick? Well, the Manhattan station's emergency exit signs say only "IND Queens Line", so I figure, why not name the article "Seventh Avenue (IND Queens Boulevard Line)" and make it very clear that the station is really split between two lines? This leaves both stations at the same "level", so to speak, and eliminates the need to rely on {{Otheruses4}} to disambiguate. Do you think you prefer one way or the other? You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Q3 link
[edit]I hadn't noticed that you just changed it; otherwise I probably would have talked first before fixing. If you believe Q3 links should point to Transportation to New York City area airports, you should change the Q3 (New York City bus) redirect to point there, and add a link to that redirect in list of bus routes in Queens. However, I think it would make more sense to place all the information in the list, since the bus des more than serve the airport. --NE2 00:25, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
Please read Wikipedia:Redirect#Don't fix links to redirects that aren't broken. --NE2 01:09, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
