Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Information icon Please do not introduce links in actual articles to draft articles, as you did to List of Hyderabadi Muslims. Since a draft is not yet ready for the main article space, it is not in shape for ordinary readers, and links from articles should not go to a draft. Such links are contrary to the Manual of Style. These links have been removed. Thank you. - Arjayay (talk) 22:28, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Alright. Thanks. Paadripaadri (talk) 21:03, 22 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit(s) you made to List of Notable Hindustani Muslim from different periods, did not appear to be constructive and have been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use your sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Stop re-adding DISPLAYTITLEs that a) don't work, b) are superfluous, c) have been removed before. If you don't understand why, or disagree with the reason given for the removal, you are supposed WP:COMMUNICATE. Reverting without giving a reason is edit warring. Information icon Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion pages, as you did with List of Hindustani Muslim Heroes. Doing so won't stop the discussion from taking place. You are, however, welcome to comment about the proposed deletion on the appropriate page. Thank you. can you conclude the discussion ? all the issues have been dealt with dont know what's left to discuss. thank you Paadripaadri (talk) 16:22, 25 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Paadripaadri Given that there hasn't been anyone wanting to keep the article in mainspace, I'd hardly consider it "done." I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 23:10, 25 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
what else do u want me to do? add more references ? i will do that as for inline citations i saw many other lists similar to this just compiling names they didnt give inline citations and their pages are doing fine? Making it a big issue for no reason. Name wasnt neutral sure lets change it , controversial figures removed references added this is just a compilation of names. People come to this page they get interested reading the brief introduction they click on original page and read from there with full references Paadripaadri (talk) 19:04, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You can accept whatever outcome the discussion ends up agreeing on. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 20:00, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You are suspected of sockpuppetry, which means that someone suspects you of using multiple Wikipedia accounts for prohibited purposes. In text citations are not needed in my opinion if u look at other lists similar to this but i have tried adding references in order, aim is to redirect people to the wikipedia pages of the people that has all the information i have written in the brackets with in text citations. This is just a compilation. Paadripaadri (talk) 06:18, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
They may not be needed, but they're certainly expected. You might benefit from reading referencing for beginners. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 07:19, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
why did the other lists like "List of muhajir people" get accepted then? and many other like this they dont give inline citations because theres no need the people alreafy have their wikipedia pages. This only aims to redirect them to those pages and compile names Paadripaadri (talk) 17:32, 2 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.
