Conflict of interest
[edit]Thanks for your edits on Progressive Party of Aotearoa New Zealand, but from your username I'm guessing you are affiliated with the party. If this is the case, I'd like to gently draw your attention to the Wikipedia:Conflict of interest guidelines. Note especially WP:COIEDIT. Basicly, you should propose changes to this article via the talk page (and disclose your conflict), rather than editing directly. And that said: if you are aware of other reliable, neutral sources for this party (i.e. not self-published, not the party itself, not an associated entity), then I would love to hear about them so we can improve the article. --IdiotSavant (talk) 00:04, 25 August 2020 (UTC)
Hi there, thank you for your message and I apologise for fumbling the ball in my approach! My name is Allen Theunissen and I am a website developer in Nelson, New Zealand. I was commissioned by the Progressive Party of Aotearoa NZ to build their website. I am not a member or affiliated in any way. The party leader (Bruce Dyer) noted that "Jim Anderton's Progressive Party" dominated all popular search engine returns and he advised this was causing confusion with new users searching for this newly established party. Whilst developing SEO (which wouldn't make fundamental inroads before the elections), I offered to try and submit a new party entry to Wikipedia. The party leader (Bruce Dyer) is delighted that Wikipedia indeed researched and created the current entry, but asked if I could kindly edit two items, which I actioned earlier this morning. Having never attempted this before, I can see I caused concern in my approach and unreservedly apologise. Happy to follow correct policy and procedure going forward. My email address is allen@montagedesign.co.nz and mobile number is 0275449533 in the event you need to contact me. Thank you and kind regards, Allen.
- Thanks for the reply. We have a group of editors actively interested in ensuring small parties are covered in Wikipedia, and it just took us a while to notice this one. --IdiotSavant (talk) 02:05, 25 August 2020 (UTC)
