The most obvious reason is that two classmates could try to log on at the same time. But if you ever looked at the Blackboard chat room for the class, you'd see that's no cause for concern. Wikipedia's username policy states, "For reasons of attribution and accountability, you are not allowed to share your account or password with others. If you do, and this becomes known, your account will be blocked."
