RFA Thanks

[edit]
Thank you!
Thank you for your support in my recent RFA. It passed 53/1/2 and I am now an administrator. I appreciate that some of you made exceptions to your usual requirements re length of service and so on because we've interracted positively in the past, or because of my credentials, so I will endeavour to use my new mop cautiously. I'm always open to feedback and gently constructive criticism. If you're not an admin and need some assistance do of course please let me know. Thanks again --kingboyk 00:23, 6 March 2006 (UTC) [reply]

P.S. If you are interested in The Beatles, User:Lar has asked me to tag on a little note advertising the creation of a new Beatles WikiProject that we are currently setting up. Please sign up and help.

Thanks for your support in my RFA. The final vote count was (66/2/3), so I am now an administrator. Please let me know if at any stage you need help, or if you have comments on how I am doing as an admin. Have a nice day! Stifle 17:02, 7 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for supporting my RFA. I really appreciated the show of support and all the kind words from so many great Wikipedians. I hope I live up to them! -- Vary | Talk 17:36, 12 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have any objections to my closing this and moving it to Shed hunting based on [this? CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 04:15, 17 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I hoped you wouldn't and moved it anyway. It was getting near quitting time and I didn't want a lot more people coming in and saying delete. THanks. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 14:25, 17 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My RFA withdrawal :(

[edit]

Hello PJM, it is my apologies to bring you that I've withdrawn my RFA. Due to the lack of experience, I would go under admin coaching first before trying again later. I would thank you for your vote in this RFA whether you voted support, oppose or neutral for me. I appericiate your comments (if you do have) you made and I hope to see you here in future. --Terence Ong 14:56, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi PJM/archive4, thank you for voting in my RFA which failed eventually at a result of (91/51/8). I do not plan to run for adminship until a later date. Once again, I would like to thank you for voting. --Terence Ong (talk | contribs) 03:15, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There's a lot of variations out there, but I wanted to let you know that this is the first one which made me laugh in a while. Solid. --Deville (Talk) 14:04, 24 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

More than that... I was laughing about that all day. For some reason, I'm picturing John Stewart doing a bit on cruft, and in his style, "Cruftometer?...... [graphic of tachyometer comes up behind him] Pinned." I don't know why, it just struck a chord in me. Good stuff. --Deville (Talk) 16:08, 25 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
LOL. Perhaps someday someone will design a neat little cruftometer graphic that AFD partcipants can insert into their comments while discussing the likes of "List of Playboy centerfolds wearing red nail polish ". :) Cheers. PJM 00:14, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

TR-3B Stryker II Deletion

[edit]

Hello, I was wondering if you would consider changing you're vote to Keep after reading this?

A homemade aircraft for flight sim 2004 that is extremely popular/notable at 3000+ downloads from just one website. Made by one of the most notable concept developers for flight sim. What’s wrong with listing a concept Flight Sim aircraft? Not so different from the X-02 model under fictional aircraft in my opinion. The TR-3B is based on a rumored aircraft in the real world named the TR-3A Black Manta. This article has been around sine 2005.

-Left by user MachJok with a vote to keep- As a designer of Flight Simulator Aircraft I must say EVERY aircraft is notable and unique, even if it has been modeled after a real world aircraft. To have a wikipedia article on a unique aircraft that MAY BE real, but has been modeled in a flight simulator constitutes a unique and notable a) article and b) aircraft. To say that the aircraft is not unique is to say that every fictional plane or aircraft based on rumor is not unique...and obviously this is not the case at hand. Although I see how bandwidth may be an issue, I do not agree that the stipulation of non-notable applies. That would be the equivalent of saying a hand built model is not unique, and each modeled aircraft for flight simulator is painstakingly modeled part by part. ASSUMING the black manta is not real (which it may or may not be, I don't know) just because there is an article about an aircraft that was made for a flight simulator is in itself unique. Therefore the aircraft itself is not entirely unique; however, it is notable that a designer went through the effort to build an aircraft. I will also add that this aircraft is worth of distinction and has already won an award from another design group. I have adequately shown that this aircraft is both unique and worthy of distinction and excellence. As per your guidelines for deletion, all of the titles of non-notability, non-excellence, and not worthy of distinction do not apply. --end--

I am not here to get into a fight of any sort, just simply to talk about the deletion and to try and persuade you to change you’re vote to keep.

Hallo- I noticed that you posted a 'Delete' vote on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Soggy biscuit (2). I have recently posted some new material that I feel satisfies the requirement for WP:N and WP:V- hopefully you may feel the same. In any event, best wishes and apologies for the intrusion. Hey, I did a bit of research about the Robert Todd Lincoln/Edwin Booth/train story, and then restored the trivia item to the article. Take a gander at the reference I put it; it's a fascinating story, very well documented, about both men. --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 16:59, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry to trouble you. I was scanning th article I monitor daily and on James Madison an IP user has added a mess of HTML. Now I do not understand much at all about HTML or Javascript. Could you look of the edits and tell me what the IP's code does to the article and tell me if it is vandalism? Thank you (Steve 14:39, 2 May 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Hi, Steve. Thanks for the note. Those edits from that particular IP seemed superfluous and questionable. Not to mention there were no edit summaries. Anyway, I reverted them and dropped a note on the user's talk page. I've also added James Madison to my watchlist. Cheers. PJM 19:56, 2 May 2006 (UTC)

Gibson SG

[edit]

Trivia sections are usually trivial and bring articles down. The SG trivia made for an interesting read but I could never find the story behind Clapton's SG to link to the article...not yet anyways. As for Hendrix, I can't find an online link, but I can confirm that he did play an SG(a white one) on Cavett's show. I have a copy of the vid..in fact I just watched it the other day. If I can find some linkable evidence I may put that one back in. Cheers! Anger22 20:33, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No prob...link away, my friend. When there are no sources noted, it encourages some people to take liberties (as with those last wave of anon. IP edits). That's why I struck it all. Cheers, PJM 21:08, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

File:Danavecpurpletiger.jpg A belated thank you to you for Supporting my RFA! It passed 54/2/3, much better than I expected! I am still finding my feet as an Administrator, and so far I am enjoying the experience. I am honoured that you felt I was ready to take up this position, and wish to thank you formally! [edit]

When using template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template. — Ian Manka Talk to me‼ 02:54, 19 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My RfA

Thanks
Thanks
PJM/archive4, thank you for participating in my RfA. Unfortunately, a great number of oppose voters felt that I lacked experience, and a consensus was not reached (the final tally was 30/28/10). Perhaps I will try again in another few months when I have a few more edits under my belt. If I do, I hope I can count on your support. Thanks again! Cool3 talk 20:41, 2 June 2006 (UTC) (UTC)[reply]

About my edit on Dental floss

[edit]

In your message you stated that you're trying to write an encyclopedia, somewhat implying that I'm not. Too bad your arrogance is preventing you to realize that the page in question is pure advertisement, or if you prefer, not encyclopedic in first place. -- Femmina 13:37, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The "arrogant" message and my reply:

Thanks for your contribution, but we are trying to write an encyclopedia here, so please keep your edits factual and neutral. Some readers looking for a serious article might not find them amusing. Remember, millions of people read Wikipedia, so we have to take what we do a bit seriously here. If you'd like to experiment with editing, use the Sandbox to get started. I hope you can help us out! PJM 13:01, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
The above is a template message, not a personal message. I don't see it as "arrogant"...I'm sorry you think so. If you feel that Dental floss reads like an ad, then by all means improve the tone of the article. However, edits like the one you made today are not helpful - no offense. File:Motherussia.jpg Hello PJM, and thank you for your support at my request for adminship, which ended with an awe-inspiring 86/1/2 result. I plan to do much with my shiny new tools - but I'll start slow and learn the ropes at first. Please deluge me with assignments and requests - I enjoy helping out. For Mother Russia!! - CrazyRussian talk/contribs/email 05:23, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And the irony:

Definitely not A7. Read WP:CSD carefully. Besides, please don't subst speedy tags. - CrazyRussian talk/contribs/email 14:54, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My mistake for substing - thanks for pointing that out. As far as the Finola Hackett AFD, "finishing 2nd" didn't strike me as a proper assertion of notability. I don't think it's necessary to question how well I've read WP:CSD or to reply to my recommendation in AFD with an exclamatory remark. It was only my opinion. Not a very neighborly approach - especially when you consider I supported your RFA. PJM 03:03, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
