Hi, I don't believe that username violates any of the policies you outlined above. I am an individual who rows in the city of Oxford and am passionate about the sport in the city. I have noticed that a lot of articles about these topics are very out of date, hence my edits and I have started with University College. OxfordRowing is not a company, group, organisation, product, service, or website. Furthermore it is not being shared by anyone else, nor am I advocating for any company, group, organisation, product, service, or website. I do believe I am already contributing to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner. Thank you for your concern. OxfordRowing (talk) 21:09, 5 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for explaining. I have deleted my post above so that it doesn't put you in the category of users who have received a username warning, and will post a Welcome below. Please only add information referenced to reliable secondary sources, not to club websites. Best wishes, Tacyarg (talk) 21:15, 5 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much! OxfordRowing (talk) 21:29, 5 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Tacyarg and OxfordRowing: I have to say I thought the same thing initially, that this was some sort of "official" account for the Oxford rowing organisation. I see from the explanation above that you're just a regular editor with an interest in that area, but I personally think a tweak of the username would be advisable anyway, otherwise you're going to get a lot of people thinking you have a conflict of interest here.

On a second point, regarding your move of Eights Week to Summer Eights, I have reverted that for the time being. The key policy for determining page titles is WP:COMMONNAME, and when I look at an ngram (analysis of book sources) for this, I see a fairly large lead for "Eights Week", in any capitalisation: [1] If you still wish to proceed with this move, you should go to the WP:RM page and follow the instructions for a "controversial" move, so it can be listed for discussion.

Finally, just to echo Tacyarg's welcome below. As an alumnus of University College, Oxford, myself, it's great to see someone working on topics related to that, although I have to say I was never a rower myself... the early mornings and forced labour weren't for me 🙂 Cheers, and happy editing  — Amakuru (talk) 09:17, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there @Amakuru, great to hear from you! Glad to hear you like the work on Univ's boat club page and agreed on the mornings, hoping to get around a lot more soon. I can look into a name change but there isn't any such 'OxfordRowing' organisation in existence so for now I don't deem a name change high priority. The reason for the name change to Summer Eights is that this is how the event is commonly known across the town and University. While Eights Week was more apt in the past, even the organisers exclusively refer to 'Summer Eights' now. Thanks for your help! OxfordRowing (talk) 20:27, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
