dnotify

[edit]

Hi!

Hello! Are you the author of dnotify? If so what happened to it?

Hello there! Yeah. Well, the site had to be removed, and now I have nowhere to put dnotify. But the real reason is that the inotify framework is much more powerful, so I felt that further development on dnotify would be pretty much pointless.

Repost of 2012 in UFC

[edit]

A tag has been placed on 2012 in UFC requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia, because it appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion process. If you can indicate how it is different from the previously posted material, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's discussion directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. If you believe the original discussion was unjustified, please contact the administrator who deleted the page or use deletion review instead of recreating the page. Thank you. WP:MMA

[edit]
Thanks for helping to make MMA articles on wikipedia better! In September 168 people made a total of 956 edits to MMA articles. I noticed you havn't listed yourself on the WikiProject Mixed martial arts Participants page. Take a look, sign up, and don't forget to say hi on the talk page.

Kevlar (talk) 04:53, 1 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on UFC on FX: Maynard vs. Guida requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Sriharsh1234 12:28, 8 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

UFC 155

[edit]

If you wish to access the article's deleted content, it's on my sandbox. Regards - Poison Whiskey (talk) 14:19, 12 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to use the poster, you can probably use the one on the Portuguese-language wikipedia entry for UFC 155 here: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/pt/8/8d/Ufc155.jpg Beansy (talk) 06:51, 13 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I put up a temp version of a UFC 155 article, using Poison Whiskey's sandbox version and then adding a bunch of updates and diversified references. It is located here: http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/UFC_155 (the template did encourage me to put the info right on the talk page. I'm not sure if that is proper or not but I didn't want to step on anyone's toes since there was nothing on the project page itself). I hope it is of some use to you. It might be best to grab the data before someone messes with it. Beansy (talk) 04:31, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I also put it in my sandbox here: http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User:Beansy/sandbox Beansy (talk) 06:25, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 2012 in UFC, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Matt Brown (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Mtking (edits) 19:29, 16 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I intend to file a WP:DRV on this, might have to wait till this evening so I can get time to fully draft it out, any thoughts you might have would be helpful. Mtking (edits) 03:31, 17 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. However, perhaps we should wait for a RfC conclusion on event/omnibus articles? It may take months but it seems pointless arguing back and forward about notability and article format and all that. (At least that's how I feel right now.) But if you start a DRV I would of course support it. osklil (talk) 07:10, 17 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The problem I want to avoid is the RfC failing due to no example omnibus to demonstrate what is proposed. Mtking (edits) 07:48, 17 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, sorry for massively spamming your talk page but here is the most recent version of 2012 in UFC that I deleted: GizzaTalk © 11:11, 17 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Instead of nominating this for AfD I am proposing that it be merged to your new 2013 in UFC in development. Mtking (edits) 04:25, 26 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. As soon as I get the deleted articles from the other admins to complete 2013 in UFC I will submit it for review. osklil (talk) 08:20, 26 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

User:osklil/UFC 156

[edit]

Hi, I have now actually moved it to User:osklil/UFC 156 rather than osklil/UFC 156! Graeme Bartlett (talk) 09:50, 29 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Why not just move it to 2013 in UFC ? I am happy to do it if you would rather another editor do it. ? Mtking ? 07:38, 30 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Done. I wasn't sure how WP:AFC works but it seemed like a good thing at the time... osklil (talk) 07:44, 30 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
probably best to have moved it so the history remains. I will ask an admin to do that for you. ? Mtking ? 07:48, 30 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe, but I doubt there's much history to keep: Only edits by me (incorporations of other articles), and some categories added by another user. Remember it is originally from User:osklil/2013 in UFC. osklil (talk) 07:50, 30 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Best for keeping up with the cc-by-sa rules - have asked here. ? Mtking ? 07:52, 30 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, this was borderline; only 1 edit, and that quite trivial, was by someone other than Oskar Liljeblad, so there wasn't really much licensing to worry about. But, either way, moving is better. Technically, of course, if you make something at AfC you should wait until and AfC volunteer reviews it, but this was obviously an acceptable article so transferring it was fine. I've gone ahead and done the move so that the history is kept, as it doesn't hurt anything to do it that way. Qwyrxian (talk) 09:23, 30 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

UFC 157

[edit]

After UFC 157 was deleted, you asked that it be moved to User:osklil/UFC 157; it stayed there until you asked for it to be deleted under {{db-userreq}}. Someone's now asked at deletion review (DRV) that the article itself be restored. Would you mind if I undelete the page in your userspace? If DRV conclude that it shouldn't have been deleted, your userspace page will be undeleted and moved; if they conclude that it should have been deleted, nothing will happen to you. I'm simply asking for the undeletion so that people at DRV can see what was on the page, and it would be rude to undelete it without your permission and without agreement at DRV. Nyttend (talk) 19:13, 4 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It was incorporated into 2013 in UFC in its entirety - that's why I had it deleted from my user space. I didn't need it any longer. osklil (talk) 19:44, 4 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Then I won't do it; thanks for the response. Curious, do you need User talk:osklil/UFC 157? Someone attempted to prevent the page from being deleted from your userspace. Nyttend (talk) 19:47, 4 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Merging REFUNDED articles

[edit]

I've noticed that you have created a serious problem with 2013 in UFC, as you have been cutting and pasting from other people's work. This breaks all of our licensing. When someone refunds an article for you, you can use that as a reference while you are creating your own article, showing you what sources are available for you to create your own from, but it is not acceptable to simply cut-and-paste someone elses work under your own attribution. I haven't figured out precisely what needs to be done with that article yet, but I do have to ask you to stop cutting-and-pasting articles.—Kww(talk) 17:45, 8 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for informing me about this. I was not aware of WP:CWW (or WP:RUD). Next time it happens I will ask an admin to make a history merge. (When an UFC event article is up for AfD I will instead recommend merge with 2013 in UFC.) osklil (talk) 18:23, 8 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. I will help with repairing 2013 in UFC. I can answer any WP:Copying within Wikipedia questions you may have. Flatscan (talk) 05:24, 9 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. As far as I know, here's the individual events and their history statuses:
osklil (talk) 09:41, 9 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for collecting this list; it confirms my list. Flatscan (talk) 05:45, 10 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Just for the record, I wrote most of what ended up being the sub-article for UFC 155, including dredging up and embedding a great number of sources. I have no problem with anything I've personally written (at least in MMA event articles) being copied verbatim into an omnibus by someone else. Beansy (talk) 13:03, 16 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

MMA results templates - format question

[edit]

(Posted this on TreyGeek and Udar55 talk pages earlier, but should have included you) Hey - wonder if you might have a bit of time to glance at something. I decided to experiment with switchingan existing article over to the new event result format using the templates as much as possible. I've got some visual concerns with the end result so I copied it over to a user page. Would you mind taking a look here and see what you think? Did I miss something? Remember that the MMAevent template has a smaller font size so it's going to look smaller than the Bellator article that Udar55 did. I know we can do some padding tricks to get the spacing if needed but I would like someone else to look at it and offer thoughts before I get crazy. Thanks! Ravensfire (talk) 18:46, 10 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

TreyGeek commented on his page that centering needs to be done on a "per row" basis, which is supported by some additional reading I've done. *sigh* I'm so used to working with JSP/HTML that I sometimes forget that everything I can do there isn't possible/allowed on Wikipedia. Probably a very strong point in favor of the MMAevent bout template. But would still like your thoughts on how things look on my test page. I think a small amount of padding will ease my concerns but extra eyes would be helpful. Ravensfire (talk) 18:48, 10 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good to me, although I still think a results row template would be useful... :) osklil (talk) 19:22, 10 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Given the need for row-by-row centering (and I think the need for padding-right on the first 5 columns to improve readability since we're not using fixed column widths), I agree. Ravensfire (talk) 19:29, 10 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I think I've got the templates to a fairly usable state that matches the consensus format. There's a couple of parameters used to control layout (one in the card template, one in the end template) that I'm hoping won't be too hard to use. Assuming nobody complains, I'm planning on moving the changes from my userspace over to template space. I've got some documention done for the main bout template. Need to fill that in more plus add a template usage section to WP:MMA. Ravensfire (talk) 18:47, 15 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

AfD

[edit]

Hi. Just a note that your recent Afd for UFC on Fox 7 is bad formatted. It's better to use Twinkle in this process. --LlamaAl (talk) 13:49, 15 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have no idea what happened, but I think it's been cleaned up now... osklil (talk) 14:06, 15 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion sorting

[edit]

Hello Oskar, I noticed you listed this discussion at Sports. Where you have already listed it at a more specific Sport's delsort like Martial arts it unnecessary to add it to Sports itself, infact Sports is a Meta-list so it's actually already listed there. For example something like motorsport or horseracing goes under Sports but others that have their own shouldn't be listed their. So I've struck/crossed out the sports delsort & removed from here.
