A tag has been placed on Orice Jenkins requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. ttonyb1 (talk) 02:43, 17 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re your message: I deleted the article because you did not include why he is notable per the guidelines for inclusion on Wikipedia for musicians. For a musician to be notable, they must have a hit single or album or have significant third-party coverage of them. You have included nothing that meets the notability guidelines, therefore the article is eligible for speedy deletion. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 03:25, 17 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Re your message: If you can provide citations from reliable sources that he meets items 9 or 12 of the notability guidelines, the article may remain on Wikipedia. If you want to save your work in progress without getting it deleted, I recommend that you create the article in your user space and then move the article once you are done. On a side note, please see the Wikipedia section on writing an autobiography. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 03:51, 17 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 03:47, 17 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion pages, as you did with Orice jenkins. Doing so won't stop the discussion from taking place. You are, however, welcome to comment about the proposed deletion on the appropriate page. Thank you. ttonyb1 (talk) 16:55, 17 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, not sure how this message and its reply landed on my talk page. Did I delete the article before? I did not see that in the history. At any rate, if it were the deleting Admin, the thing for me to do would have been to send it to AFD, as has been done. At first glance, though, it does not seem to suggest the significance of the subject and would therefore meet WP:CSD. Hope hat helps. Dlohcierekim 14:05, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Also, this is about you? You might want to read our guidelines concerning conflict of interest and Autobiography. Cheers, Dlohcierekim 14:08, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your note, but that comment was made by someone else. Also, that single mention is not non trivial coverage in third party reliable sources. Dlohcierekim 22:36, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AFD Note

[edit]

Hey, I left a note on the AFD page about the article you wrote, and would gladly answer any questions you have about the site. I would suggest reading it, as you may understand more about what the encyclopedia is all about and some other alternatives to Wikipedia. NnCv2 20:52, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orice, I'm just trying to help you here, not make assumptions. You have to understand that Wikipedia's rules are that all of the material in the page to be verifiable, and since it is an autobiography, it is not verifiable. I could not find any information about the content except when you were in the newspaper article. I know you do have talent, as I have watched videos of you, but this is not the place for it. I must just explain again that Wikipedia articles must not just establish notability, but significant notability. And who knows? Maybe if you have a great career, somebody else will write an article about you in a few years. Wikipedia has rules, and this article just does not pass these rules just yet. I'm very sorry that you are upset, but you just have to understand. If you want to talk about this some more, leave me a talk page message. KnCv2 22:00, 19 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
