Sport climbing at the 2020 Summer Olympics – Qualification
[edit]Hi, (Sorry, English isn't my native language). What do you mean by fixing a link? If it is about O'Halloran, the link is red simply because the article has not been created. (There is a Tom O'Halloran article but it's an Australian rules footballer). It just has to be created. --Rashinseita (talk) 10:14, 20 December 2020 (UTC)
- I just remembered, your account is new. You have to wait 4 days and make at least 10 edits to gain the right to create a new page. --Rashinseita (talk) 10:17, 20 December 2020 (UTC)
- I just change [[Tom O'Halloran]] to [[Tom O'Halloran (climber)|Tom O'Halloran]] . --Rashinseita (talk) 10:32, 20 December 2020 (UTC)
- Regarding waiting for being autoconfirmed - if you want to use the Article wizard to create a draft, that is something you can do right away! Primefac (talk) 11:27, 20 December 2020 (UTC)

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, 2021 Pan American Olympic Qualifying Tournament. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – 2021 Pan American Boxing Olympic Qualification Tournament. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at 2021 Pan American Boxing Olympic Qualification Tournament. If you have new information to add, you might want to discuss it at the article's talk page.
If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Rashinseita (talk) 10:14, 10 February 2021 (UTC)
Hey Ooouah, what's good? I'm communicating with you to resolve the issue I just realized we have, this is the thing: I created a draft about the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for wrestling and I worked on it for a week or so. I checked if the page was already being made or something, and I searched the correct names of this article, which would be 2020 United States Olympic Trials (wrestling, 2020 U.S. Olympic Trials (wrestling), 2020 United States Olympic Team Trials (wrestling) or 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials (wrestling) and those kind of variations. For examples from other sports, see; 2020 United States Olympic Trials (track and field), 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials (gymnastics), 1932 United States Olympic Trials (track and field).
I did not find anything of course, as your article is named incorrectly, here's why; The 2020 Summer Olympics and Wrestling at the 2020 Summer Olympics have absolutely nothing to do with the U.S. Olympic Trials for wrestling, as this are regulated by the International Olympic Committee, while the Trials are regulated by USA Wrestling. Why does this matter? Because it has little to no relation, Wrestling at the 2020 Summer Olympics will not be affected if, for example, USA Wrestling decided to cancel the 2020 Trials and just picked a representative randomly. This is why the Trials' article should be named as if it had no direct relationship (it needs to have an indirect relationship, obviously, as it is the Olympic Trials), because it doesn't affect anything at all, the U.S. Olympic Trials and the Olympics are regulated by different organizations.
This wasn't that big of a problem by itself, because we could have simply just renamed it, however, this led to me not finding the article when I verified if someone else had already created it, so I already created another article named 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials (wrestling). I know that you have worked hard in your article, you've been on it for over a month, so we can do two things, try to figure out a deal on what to do, or call for an administrator who can help us sort this problem out, via discussion or something like that (tbh, i don't have a clue on what we should do, so I'd suggest the last one). Cheers. PabloLikesToWrestle (talk) 17:55, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
- Hey, so I am fairly new to Wikipedia and I don't know all of the quid-pro-quo just yet. That is to say, thank you for bringing this to my attention. As you said I have put a lot of work into this project and I'd hate to see it deleted over something as simple as a name. Therefore, I am more than willing to change the name to whatever you would like. If you would like to update the bracket that would help me as well as I'm not quite sure how to set up "Invoke" for team bracket tracking. We can contact an administrator for deletion and redirecting of your page over to my which I'd be willing to say is our page. As I understand you hate to see your work deleted as well. What do you say?Ooouah (talk) 19:09, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
- Hey Ooouah, good afternoon. I did see that you are fairly new to Wikipedia and it's totally fine that you didn't know how to name it, it do be like that sometimes. There's a thing called merging articles and we could do that, but I have zero idea on how to do that, I just write articles lol. In Wikipedia, articles do not belong to nobody, the article I created is not mine, I just created it but I do not hold property over it nor do you, nobody can "own" an article. If you want to appear as the one who created the article I do not mind at all, and I'd suggest to contact an admin to help us with the merging thing in your page. I'm going to ping @Cassiopeia: so he can help us out. Best. PabloLikesToWrestle (talk) 13:10, 1 April 2021 (UTC)
- LOL, owning the article was more of a "Let's do this together" and not an actual ownership. But I would like to say thank you for putting honest thought into a answer. I have an idea that I think would be the easiest. I have done this once before for another article. All you need to do is copy and paste your brackets with edit source into your private sandbox. Then we delete your article and we manually copy and paste Your brackets over to mine. I will wait until you've done this. Once you have, you will need to contact an admin to delete your article. Simply tell them what occured and they will do it swiftly. PS It has to be you who contacts, otherwise they will need to review everything before making a decision as you were the pages creator and not me. :) Ooouah (talk) 16:59, 1 April 2021 (UTC)
- Hey Ooouah, I was wondering, how did you do the best three outta three boxes? I saw you did them in your version of the article. Could you please replicate it? Thanks. PabloLikesToWrestle (talk) 12:28, 3 April 2021 (UTC)
