Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policy for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. [1] --Ronz 16:07, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

COI

[edit]

If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with,
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors,
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam);
    and you must always:
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially neutral point of view, verifiability, and autobiography.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Business' FAQ. For more details about what constitutes a conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Conflict of Interest. Thank you. --Ronz 15:45, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Citations

[edit]

Wikipedia does not allow the citation of an assertion to another Wikipedia page. Of course, a Wikipedia page may change at any time and may be uncited itself. So, you have to cite to some source outside of Wikipedia. See WP:CITE, WP:RS and WP:V for details. Hope this helps. IPSOS (talk) 19:12, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In any case, the additions were inappropriate. First, you linked to the page Sacrament, which is specifically about the Christian sacrament. While Rastafari is considered an Abrahamic religion, it is not considered a Christian one. Therefore your addition to the page about the Christian sacrament under the heading "Views from other Christian Traditions" was also inappropriate. Take a look at the top of the Sacrament page, where it says "This article is about the Christian rite. For other uses, see Sacrament (disambiguation)." This give a clear instruction where other uses of the word "Sacrament" are discussed and described. The disambiguation page would be the place to add a note about the use of the word sacrament in Rastafari. Before you do so, please read WP:DISAMBIG which describes the format and restrictions of disambiguation pages. IPSOS (talk) 19:23, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
