December 2014

Hi would you like to copyedit this article? Thanks. Ssven2 (talk) 16:20, 1 December 2014 (UTC)

@Ssven2: - Hi! Sure, I'll take a whack at it over the next couple of days. Onel5969 (talk) 15:47, 2 December 2014 (UTC)

A beer for you!

Beer is the world's most widely consumed and probably oldest alcoholic beverage. It is the third most popular drink after water and tea. Have a beer! Hafspajen (talk) 23:29, 4 December 2014 (UTC)
Right back at you! Do I have to stop at one? Seeing as I'm on my third right now... Onel5969 (talk) 23:30, 4 December 2014 (UTC)

Would you be interested in copyediting this film? Thank you. Thamizhan1994 (Appo Pesu) 17:17, 6 December 2014 (UTC)

@Thamizhan1994: - Hi. Sure, I'll give it a go. It's a long article, so I'll do it in sections (as I usually do)... probably take me about a week to do it justice. You'll see the sections done as I go through it, and I'll ping you when I finish. Onel5969 (talk) 20:01, 6 December 2014 (UTC)
It is the caretaker's wife, four your kind information. Thamizhan1994 (Appo Pesu) 10:48, 7 December 2014 (UTC)

It should be reel life and not real life. The quote is correct. Don't worry :) Thamizhan1994 (Appo Pesu) 15:47, 12 December 2014 (UTC)

@Thamizhan1994: - Okay, just finished it. Hope it helps. Onel5969 (talk) 14:01, 13 December 2014 (UTC)

A cup of coffee for you!

Hey great work with your recent copyediting on Tamil films. Will you take care of Mouna Ragam, which is on the GOCE list? Kailash29792 (talk) 16:57, 8 December 2014 (UTC)
@Kailash29792: - Thanks. Right now I'm working on Anbe Vaa, but when I'm finished, if Mouna Ragam still needs a pass, I'll give it a go. Anbe will take me at least a few more days, however. Onel5969 (talk) 17:05, 8 December 2014 (UTC)
Take your time. And do remember to put a "working" tag on every GOCE request you accept. Kailash29792 (talk) 17:09, 8 December 2014 (UTC)
You are finished with Anbe Vaa; ready now? Or committed to anything else? Kailash29792 (talk) 13:31, 14 December 2014 (UTC)
Greetings! Yes, finished Anbe yesterday. Just began on Mouna Ragam about 10 minutes ago. Finished the lead. Will continue on that this week. Onel5969 (talk) 13:34, 14 December 2014 (UTC)
@Kailash29792: Hi. Just noticed that Baffle Gab is doing a c/e on Mouna Ragam, so I'm going to break off doing it. Good luck.Onel5969 (talk) 02:09, 15 December 2014 (UTC)

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors

Candidate nominations for Guild coordinators to serve from January 1 to June 30, 2015, are currently underway. I get what you are saying, but...

...that is not the broad definition (all eight states); if it were, the order would be different. I'll ignore California and non-western Texas since otherwise, the cities would be primarily in those states. (See this if you want a Wikipedia list: List of Metropolitan Statistical Areas#United States)

  1. Phoenix, Arizona
  2. Denver, Colorado
  3. Las Vegas, Nevada
  4. Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
  5. Salt Lake City, Utah
  6. Tucson, Arizona
  7. Tulsa, Oklahoma
  8. Albuquerque, New Mexico
  9. El Paso, Texas
  10. Colorado Springs, Colorado

If you include Texas and Southern California (this is the worst possible variant in my opinion)...

  1. Los Angeles, California
  2. Dallas, Texas
  3. Houston, Texas
  4. Phoenix, Arizona
  5. Riverside, California
  6. San Diego, California
  7. Denver, Colorado
  8. San Antonio, Texas
  9. Las Vegas, Nevada
  10. Austin, Texas

I hope this explains I why I suggest eliminating most cities in those two states.

Another variant of the regions that appears to be common includes the states of Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas, with Nevada, Colorado, and California being part of the "West". By this definition (only including West Texas, as there are too many populous cities in the entirety of the state), the top six metropolitan areas in order by population are...

  1. Phoenix, Arizona
  2. Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
  3. Tucson, Arizona
  4. Tulsa, Oklahoma
  5. Albuquerque, New Mexico
  6. El Paso, Texas
  7. Lubbock, Texas

In any case, I think a change should be made, as the article fails to meet any of these definitions, and it neglects California, all of Texas, and all of Oklahoma. I just randomly came up with some of these lists; it appeared to be too complicated to just choose, so I removed the statement, but you keep re-adding it. Dustin (talk) 23:20, 10 December 2014 (UTC)

@Dustin V. S.: - Hi! And I completely understand your viewpoint. The issue is, that there is so much variance as to what different folks mean by the Southwest US. I basically agree with all 3 of your variations above. Part of the issue is how you break up the US, since there is no "official" definition. Personally, I think the SW should include: NV, AZ, NM, UT, CO and western TX. Part of the problem with this article, is that it has been discussed before, with the result being what you see in the article. I think it may be time to re-start a discussion about what to include. I think if we said that the article was about my partial list above, and simply touch on the fact that different definitions include other states (CA, OK and all of TX), that might work. There is no doubt that west TX is different than east TX - the state is so damn big. CA and OK, imho, should definitely be excluded. There might be an argument that CO and UT should be as well. Especially with the dearth of cited material regarding what to include. I'd definitely welcome and participate in the discussion. Thoughts? Onel5969 (talk) 23:39, 10 December 2014 (UTC)

December 2014

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give The Imperfect Lady (1935 film) a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut-and-paste-move repair holding pen. Thank you. Rob Sinden (talk) 11:53, 12 December 2014 (UTC)

@Robsinden: Hi! Couldn't do that do to the way the redirects were constructed. See your point though, so I apologize for reverting your correction (you hadn't left this message yet). I guess I need to get an admin involved so that it can follow the correct protocol... was attempting to do it without bothering anyone. Onel5969 (talk) 11:56, 12 December 2014 (UTC)
No problem. I'd have thought using the {{Db-move}} on the destination page is the quickest way to get it moved if it's not controversial and over a redirect. --Rob Sinden (talk) 11:58, 12 December 2014 (UTC)
Thanks. I didn't know about that template. Will do that.Onel5969 (talk) 12:00, 12 December 2014 (UTC)
@Robsinden: - Can you do me a quick favor? Take a look at the page and make sure I added the template correctly? Thanks. Onel5969 (talk) 12:05, 12 December 2014 (UTC)
Looks fine to me. --Rob Sinden (talk) 12:18, 12 December 2014 (UTC)

Happy Lucia!

Thanks W.carter! Just trying to do my bit to help make the site slightly better. BTW, in the US every student must take a foreign language in both High School and at university. While I took Spanish in HS, when I went to UCLA my language choice was Swedish. By the time I graduated, I could converse intelligently in it (it's a pretty cool language)... but after 30 years of non-use, it's pretty much all gone except for a few phrases like "Talar du Svenska?" or "Jag tala Svenska", or, most importantly, "Vart är baren?" Hope you're having a wonderful Saint Lucia's Day! Happy editing! Onel5969 (talk) 13:28, 13 December 2014 (UTC)
Awesome skill, and to add to your excellent vocabulary: "Vänligen ge mig en öl" (Please bring me a beer). w.carter-Talk 13:34, 13 December 2014 (UTC)

re Chak 17/14L edit

You're welcome! Some of those village/town pages in the same 'series' are just awful. The concept of verifiability, NPOV and being encyclopaedic sometimes seems to be absent in edits originating from certain areas of the world! Maybe someday I'll learn to stay away from them. In the meantime a 'wee dram' of Jim Beam or Bundaberg Rum may see me through. 220 of Borg 13:36, 13 December 2014 (UTC)

December 2014 GOCE newsletter

Guild of Copy Editors December 2014 Newsletter

Drive: Thanks to everyone who participated in November's Backlog Elimination Drive. Of the 43 people who signed up for this drive, 26 copy edited at least one article. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here.

Progress report: The November Drive removed 26 requests from the Requests page and 509 articles from the {{copy edit}} backlog. We copy edited 83 articles tagged in the target months; July, August, and September 2013. Together with tag removals from articles unsuitable for copy editing, we eliminated July 2013 from the backlog and reduced August and September's tags to 61 and 70 respectively. As of 01:01, 1 December 2014 (UTC), the backlog stood at 1,974 articles, dipping below 2,000 for the first time in the Guild's history (see graph at right). Well done everyone!

Blitz: The December Blitz will run from December 14–20 and will focus on articles related to Religion, in recognition of this month's religious holidays in much of the English-speaking world. Awards will be given out to everyone who copy edits at least one of the target articles. Sign up here!

Election time again: The election of coordinators to serve from 1 January to 30 June 2015 is now underway. Candidates can nominate themselves or others from December 01, 00:01 (UTC), until December 15, 23:59. The voting period will run from December 16, 00:01 (UTC), until December 31, 23:59. You can read about coordinators' duties here. Please consider getting involved and remember to cast you vote—it's your Guild and it doesn't organize itself!

Thank you all once again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve anything without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators Jonesey95, Baffle gab1978, and Miniapolis.

My next GA plan. Would you like to give it a c/e? Ssven2 speak 2 me 03:30, 16 December 2014 (UTC)

@Ssven2: - Hi. Sure. Will start on it tomorrow. Will take a few days. Onel5969 (talk) 03:48, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
No problem. Do give it a thorough c/e and add a  Working tag at the requests page. Ssven2 speak 2 me 03:50, 16 December 2014 (UTC)
@Ssven2: - Hi again. Just wanted to let you know, that I'm no longer a member of GOCE... didn't like the attitude of some of the editors, so I left. Still do c/e from time to time, especially if requested. If that's an issue for you, if you want a GOCE editor, than I will completely understand. If you would still like me to do it, you can remove the request from the GOCE page, and I'll take care of it. Just let me know. Onel5969 (talk) 13:02, 16 December 2014 (UTC)

Bar, Ukraine

I honestly don't know what is wrong with my edit. The pronunciation is clearly the British and American pronunciation of bar (not the town in Ukraine), there's a senseless extra text line "IPAc-en|audio=En-us-Bar.ogg", plus the {{Ua-pop-est2013}} template wrongly puts the dot after the note.--Carnby (talk)

Hi! Good morning (or whatever time of day it is where you are). I made the reversion, because some of what you did seemed incorrect, and was going back over it to re-do what I saw as correct (e.g. removing that stupid line at the beginning). The phrase, "officially the City of Bar", is better, and more importantly, it's the correct official term for the city, rather than the construction your edit made. Regarding the dot and the template, you are correct, that the construction now puts the ref in the wrong spot, however, your change made the sentence grammatically awkward. Regarding the opening pronunciation, the former construct was more in keeping with the guidelines in terms of construction. Since it's in the Ukraine, having that in the opening is pretty important (I have no opinion on the inclusion of Polish there, that could be deleted in my opinion).
Due to the symbols in the opening, it was easier to make a revert and then go in and make the corrections. I actually had the article open to deal with the two issues which should be corrected, but was making myself a cup of coffee... will make them now. The issue is with the template for the pop estimate. I am having difficulty overcoming the issue of the dot, while still making the sentence grammatically correct. I think that your change there is about the best change that can be made, there's a problem with that template's structure. Onel5969 (talk) 13:02, 20 December 2014 (UTC)

Hello from User:Emperorofthedaleks

Hello Onel5969, I'm new to Wikipedia and I have been editing the Italians in the United Kingdom page and i thought the image in the infobox would be better as a collage like the one on the English American page, I think you would need one of the photo box or gimp tools for the computer, but I don't have these and am not too sure on how to do this collage, so I would really appreciate it if you could do it, or if you can't but know someone who can and ask them to do it that would be a real help. If you could merge the individual images below into a single image I think it would really benefit the page. I will give you the images I've got so far:

Onel5969/Archive 13

Thank you--Emperorofthedaleks (talk) 10:06, 21 December 2014 (UTC)

@Emperorofthedaleks: - Hi! And welcome to Wikipedia. Of course I'll attempt it, but montages are tricky (as you've just found out), and pretty time-consuming. The most I've ever done as been one with 8 photos in it, and that took me quite a few hours. I won't be able to get to this until tomorrow probably. But I'll ping you to let you know my progress. Happy editing!Onel5969 (talk) 13:02, 21 December 2014 (UTC)

Thank you very much! Ok then, I mean if it will take ages then I understand if you don't do it, because it wouldn't be fair for you, but I do think it will benefit the page. You could ask someone else to do it because as I've mentioned I read that some programs on the computer are faster than others (photo box, gimp, etc.) I should mention though, that I have asked other editors other than yourself, because I wasn't sure who would reply or not (It says on some of their pages that they are on a wiki break). Thank you very much for agreeing with the idea. A question I have is if you were to complete the image if you have the time then would you edit the Italians in the United Kingdom page to incorporate the image, or would you post the image to me?--Emperorofthedaleks (talk) 14:29, 21 December 2014 (UTC)

I forgot to mention (you may already know) that the images I gave you can be cropped before you merge them, perhaps more focused on their faces, and also if the images were in a 4x4 formation. Thanks--Emperorofthedaleks (talk) 15:32, 21 December 2014 (UTC)

Hello Onel5969, I'm just letting you know that I will not be able to edit Wikipedia or comment until Boxing Day. Thank you--Emperorofthedaleks (talk) 13:30, 22 December 2014 (UTC)

Hope you had a merry Christmas, I'm back on Wikipedia following a short Christmas break--Emperorofthedaleks (talk) 17:24, 26 December 2014 (UTC)

@Emperorofthedaleks: - Hi! Welcome back, hope you had a nice holiday. Here's what I've come up with so far, there were two files that you sent me that were too small to use in the montage (they pixelated too much). So if you have two others, I can put them in. Also, I can re-order the pics if you'd like.

thanks for your help, I really appreciate it--Emperorofthedaleks (talk) 18:28, 27 December 2014 (UTC)

Hi

Merry Christmas to you! Please take a look at the article Carolina Neurath, appreciate it.--BabbaQ (talk) 19:24, 21 December 2014 (UTC)

Hi BabbaQ! Haven't talked in quite a spell. Be happy to take a look at the article (being in finance, and having quite a few financial dealings in Sweden, this is a pretty appropriate article). Right off the bat, the first reference doesn't seem to bring up a link about the article's subject. Will work on it this afternoon. Oh... and a very Merry Christmas to you as well... Onel5969 (talk) 21:10, 21 December 2014 (UTC)
Okay BabbaQ, did a c/e on, and re-ordered it a bit to put it in better chronological order. Also added a few details (who she lost to in 2011 for Guldspaden, the English translations of a few the books - although I couldn't figure out exactly how to translate her first book title - as near as I can figure it, it should be: The big bank Hank: Finance pair Hagströmer and Qvibergs rise and fall. The Big Bank Scandal: the Finance Team Hagströmer and Qviberg's Rise and Fall"). Anyway, hope it helps. Onel5969 (talk) 21:58, 21 December 2014 (UTC)

Hi. Would you like to conduct a GA review on Magadheera? Pavanjandhyala (talk) 13:42, 24 December 2014 (UTC)

To answer your questions, yes you're more than welcome to remove the blue link/update any totals if applicable, and if there are new blue links, yes they should be checked before removal to be safe. Thanks for helping out there; thankfully it seems there's several editors that are writing on those guys, so they could all feasibly be written about in the next few months. Wizardman 03:31, 25 December 2014 (UTC)

Thanks. Look forward to getting the pages blank. My focus, however, also takes me to others who I think deserve pages. My cut-off point isn't a hard and fast 100 films on imdb, it's more nebulous. My main cut-off is 20 films, but if I come across someone who has had significant/lead roles in a few films, I'll do an article on them. I also look for actors who have historical significance, like Kenneth Thomson (actor), one of the founders of SAG. Finally, I also do technical folks, like Edward Cronjager. But when I come across those with more than 100 films on imdb, I'll make sure to clear the list, and I'll make an effort to do between 5-10 per week on the list, regardless. Happy Holidays! 23:38:33, 27 December 2014 review of submission by Shidoken

Dear Review,

I just read your declination of Giuliana Stramigioli item. I have tried to contact you through your page but something went wrong (fatal error message).

First of all, I have to say I started this item not with my Wikipedia account, but I have been contribuiting to many Japan-related Italian items. Moreover, as you could see, Professor Stramigioli is a notable person

I do understand your asking for more references but most I can add is in Japanese. I cold also use Akira Kurosawa's words from his autobiography about Stramigioli.

Please let me know what can I do.

I just want you to consider that there are already a Japanese and a Italian item about Giuliana Stramigioli in Wikipedia. https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%82%B8%E3%83%A5%E3%83%AA%E3%82%A2%E3%83%BC%E3%83%8A%E3%83%BB%E3%82%B9%E3%83%88%E3%83%A9%E3%83%9F%E3%82%B8%E3%83%A7%E3%83%BC%E3%83%AA

https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giuliana_Stramigioli

Best regards

Shidoken (talk) 23:38, 27 December 2014 (UTC)

@Shidoken: - Hi! I looked at the IT version, and I wouldn't have passed that one as notable either. The English wiki is very conscious of biographical articles, particularly of living people (which isn't the case here). All facts should be referenced if they are subject to contesting. For example, the Kurosawa statement would need proof, which is not present in the current "note". But beyond the lack of citations proving the underlying facts of the article, there is no overriding establishment of notability. You should look at WP:PROF and WP:BIO (particularly WP:BASIC) to see what denotes notability. Once you feel that the subject meets these requirements, which I am not sure she meets, you can check out WP:RS to show you what qualifies as an independent, reliable source. I hope this helps.Onel5969 (talk) 19:54, 28 December 2014 (UTC)

@Onel5969:

Hi, thank for your reply and advice.

I do understand your doubts and I appreciate Wikipedia English consciousness of bios (but please see this: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/John_Breen_%28scholar%29, only one reference, yet Breen is really a great scholar, no doubt, and so it was a wise thing to keep his item. I do agree about the basic rule and I am entering indipendent and reliable references (mainly academic stuff and Kurosawa's autobio). Anyway no facts are subject to contesting about Stramigioli. Moreover, I am looking carefully at WP:PROF and WP:BIO and they confirm my idea, but non only mine, that Professor Stramigioli was a notable academic for Japanese Studies. Once ready, I will submit the new item,

best regards from quite cold Roma, Italia (but nothing compare to USA, I imagine)

With the help of Kailash29792, the Mishaps sub section of Magadheera is re-written and small changes are done to the plot. Please do let us know if any changes are left. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 15:50, 28 December 2014 (UTC)

Template needs fixing

Hi, your post at User talk:John Carter#Happy Holidays makes it (somehow) difficult to read the comments below it. Can you fix it? And Happy New Year. Solomon7968 17:16, 28 December 2014 (UTC)

@Solomon7968: - Hi! For the life of me, I couldn't figure out why the template was doing that on John's page. I used it on several others, and it did not have that affect. So I simply deleted it, so it wouldn't screw up the rest of the page. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Happy editing! Onel5969 (talk) 17:25, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
Thanks, I myself tried to fix it several times in preview mode etc. but it wasn't working at all. Happy editing to you too! Solomon7968 17:35, 28 December 2014 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on File:ItaliansInEnglandMontage2.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:ItaliansInEnglandMontage.jpg.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work contained within this image, you will need to specify

  1. the creator of the original work
  2. the copyright status of the original work, usually indicated by adding a licensing tag. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:23, 28 December 2014 (UTC). If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 21:23, 28 December 2014 (UTC)

16:19:32, 29 December 2014 review of submission by CockpitSeeker

Dear Onel5969,

First, thank your for your time on the review of my draft on the aviation topic "pay to fly" at: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Draft:Pay_to_fly Remarks duly noted.

To avoid numerous other submissions and make sure I can adress the issues you pointed in an efficient and timely manner, I request however that you be more specific in the paragraphs/sections that need rework. Extensive references ranging from aviation authorities, mainstream media outlets and policians' reports being provided in my draft, I am indeed at a loss as to what exactly to change at the time being.

Thank you in advance for your consideration, and merry holidays in this time of celebrations,

Sincerely, CockpitSeeker

@CockpitSeeker: - Hi! Sure. First, right off the bat, using terms like "schemes" cast a non-neutral point of view. Second, do not use bold in the body of an article. On wiki, "Do not use boldface for emphasis in article text", as per WP:BOLDFACE. Third, Same for the use of italics to highlight certain text. Avoid overuse of certain terms, e.g. "as of today". Fourth, quotes do need to be enclosed in quotation marks.
Fifth, the style of writing is very informal, like you were writing an email, for example, "As of today, aside from a French senator report of information in the name of European commission affairs on social dumping in transports"; "Concerning JAA licence holders, in Europe, 'p2f' is a practice acknowledged to exist". Sixth, raw links in articles (like to HR 500) shouldn't be there.
It is a very well-researched and cited article, and was not declined for lack of notability. It is the tone of the article. I hope this helps. I've re-worked the first couple of sentences under FAA to give you an example of the differences I'm speaking about. Onel5969 (talk) 19:07, 29 December 2014 (UTC)

19:01:39, 29 December 2014 review of submission by DonnMann

Hi, just wanted to get some feedback on how to improve my page. Didn't see any comments by you letting me know why it didn't get published. Would love some insight. Thanks.

DonnMann (talk) 19:01, 29 December 2014 (UTC)

@DonnMann: - Hi! Not sure why my comments didn't show up in the box where the article was declined, but they did show up in the summary section on the edit page. I'll repost here: Very short article. That's not a problem in and of itself, but it has a close paraphrasing issue with 3 of its sources. I then included the 3 sources, which got truncated, they are:
Hope this helps.Onel5969 (talk) 19:25, 29 December 2014 (UTC)

Regarding https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Draft:Ernst_Lobethal , the article you are flagging as a copy/paste of the Wikipedia Draft is my own article, as explicitly stated in the foreword of the article itself. I have now removed the article from javamonamour.org, in the hope that the Wikipedia article will be restored.

--Vernettoagain (talk) 07:58, 29 December 2014 (UTC)

@Vernettoagain: - Hi. In that case, it would be declined anyway. One of the three tenets of Wikipedia is No Original Research (WP:NOR). Onel5969 (talk) 19:15, 29 December 2014 (UTC)

Request on 21:31:30, 30 December 2014 for assistance on AfC submission by 86.128.48.93

Hi, I got a msg. saying the 'references do not adequately evidence the subject's notability' - I was under the impression that references such as the BBC / Public Catalogue Foundation (www.bbc.co.uk/arts/yourpaintings/artists/john-hitchens ), academic institutions (www.baacorsham.co.uk/cached/John%20Hitchens.htm ) plus representation by several art galleries are sufficient evidence? Is it not? Or have I not used the correct format/s ?

Thanks for your help.

86.128.48.93 (talk) 21:31, 30 December 2014 (UTC)

@Rebutia Marsoneri: - Hi. Yes, you need to format your citations correctly, you can find out how to do that at WP:CIT. Second the three references do not establish notability for the following reasons: 1 - the bbc reference doesn't go to notability, just simply establishes the fact that this person exists and is an artist. 2 - same with artnet; 3 - is a press blurb, therefore neither reliable. While Hitchens may be notable, there are four criteria for artists, which these citations don't establish:
  • 1.The person is regarded as an important figure or is widely cited by peers or successors. - nothing in these citations establishes this
  • 2.The person is known for originating a significant new concept, theory or technique. - nothing in the article indicates this
  • 3.The person has created, or played a major role in co-creating, a significant or well-known work, or collective body of work, that has been the subject of an independent book or feature-length film, or of multiple independent periodical articles or reviews. - nothing in the article indicates this
  • 4.The person's work (or works) either (a) has become a significant monument, (b) has been a substantial part of a significant exhibition, (c) has won significant critical attention, or (d) is represented within the permanent collections of several notable galleries or museums. - this may be how he is notable, but none of the citations indicate this. There are no citations showing critical acclaim; the bbc reference may speak to (b), but the reference itself does not establish it; nothing in the article points to (a); and nothing in the article points to (d).
The presentations at art galleries are without reference. Finally, see MOS:LAYOUT on how to format the article itself. Hope this helps. Onel5969 (talk) 16:04, 2 January 2015 (UTC)

Brent James Notability Question

I appreciate your time to review the article on Brent James (https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Draft:Brent_James). I received your comments regarding notability. The second notability criterion for musicians and ensembles https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability_(music) is "Has had a single or album on any country's national music chart." I've included three independent sources referencing his appearance on the National Hot AC charts (references 2, 3 and 4 in the article). Please help me to better understand what I can do improve this article to meet notability requirements beyond what has been included so far. Thank you in advance.

@Hooray lion: - Hi! Not sure Hot AC is a "national" chart. In the US, the standard is the Billboard charts. At least that's my understanding. Hot AC would be a niche, not national chart. That's what the note on #2 criteria is pointing out, Hot AC isn't a genre, it's a niche. But other the notability issue, the article is well written for a short article. Hope this helps.Onel5969 (talk) 04:26, 31 December 2014 (UTC)
@Onel5969: - Thanks for the reply. I am not 100% on Wikipedia's definition of a national music chart but I was under the impression the Hot AC was (AC standing for Adult Contemporary). It's referenced in USA today (may need to drop down the genre - http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/music/2012/10/15/airplay-charts/1635101/), American music charts (http://www.americasmusiccharts.com/index.cgi?fmt=A2), and Mediabase charts (http://www.mediabase.com/mmrweb/allaboutcountry/Charts.asp?format=A2R). Its not article reference-worthy but there was also a post on a Kelly Clarkson related blog showing his single on the hot AC chart (search the page for 'Brent' - http://kellyclarksonexpress.yuku.com/sreply/1259691/DARK-AIRPLAY-TRACKING-THREAD-HOT-AC-32-Oct-2). Again, I am not 100% on the wikipedia definition but let me know your thoughts on this. Also, thank you for the compliment on the article writing. It was much appreciated.
@Hooray lion: First thing, when you leave a message on an editor's talk page, there's no need to "ping" them. Pinging is to notify an editor that they are being answered, or for them to "look here", but editors are automatically notified when someone posts on their talk page, so it's a bit redundant. I ping you, so that you'll know I responded. Just a tip.
I'm posting the question on the talk page of WP:NMUSIC, so that we can get some feedback and a consensus on this issue. Let's give it a week or so, and see what other editors say. I mentioned you in the comments, so you can go to the page and add it to your watchlist. Onel5969 (talk) 05:09, 31 December 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for the tip about the ping, I am new to the Wikipedia mechanics here. I will wait for the response from you and the other editors regarding this question. Thanks again for your time and patience. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hooray lion (talkcontribs) 05:21, 31 December 2014 (UTC)

Wyn Geleynse

Dear Editor: I know you retired but I don`t know who to ask for help. I wrote an article on this artist Wyn Geleynse, winner of an important Canadian prize in 2018. I noticed that I had misspelled the name of the artist in his title so moved it to the correct spelling. But I wasn`t sure I had done this right and moved it again. Now I see Wikipedia has the wrong spelling for the name. Can you fix this please? Thank you. Also please look over articles I wrote since you retired (only 4 or so) and if okay, mark them edited. No... WP has a policy that notability, which your article did not meet. However, it might be notable, which is why I moved it to draftspace. Read WP:GNG to see what needs to be done to show it is notable. In addition, your comments on your talkpage indicate you have a COI/UPE issue, so also read WP:COI and WP:UPE and take the steps mentioned there. What it means is your article needs to go through AfC to be published. Hope this helps. Onel5969 TT me 21:32, 30 August 2022 (UTC)

Regarding "Battle of Narnaul"

I had moved Battle of Narnaul to a separate page then simply redirecting it to the district as i wanted to expand the details about the battle, but till the time i collected the data you again redirected it stating it as duplication. I just want to discuss if we could expand the article spearately? Harman Paul (talk) 06:50, 6 September 2022 (UTC)

Absolutely. There's no problem with splitting out the battle, as long as there are valid refs to back up the information. To do that, simply cut and paste the info from the city article, but when you do that, you must provide attribution in the edit summary, something like, "Info taken from Narnaul, please see that page's history for attribution". This is required as per Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Then summarize the battle on the city page, and put a link to the battle page by adding: {{Main|Battle of Narnaul}} at the top of the section on the city page. Then, if you are working on developing the page, you can put {{construction}} at the top of the page you are working on. I hope that isn't too confusing. Onel5969 TT me 10:45, 6 September 2022 (UTC)

Draft Pages

Hello, I wanted to ask if I can move a draft page to an article or its not fine? I have 2 other Draft Pages. Ahmedadeljaff (talk) 10:19, 8 September 2022 (UTC)

I would submit them through the AfC process. Onel5969 TT me 10:57, 8 September 2022 (UTC)

I would like to address that this page I made is NOT a plagiarised from any website (that you claimed). The page contains only the ff:

• titles of each episodes — official episode titles taken from the streaming service iWantTFC (owned by the one who distributed the show — ABS-CBN)

• Social Media hashtag — official hashtag posted every day on weekdays by JRB Creative Production (the one who produced the show).

• The date it first aired and TV ratings of each episodes. — each of the TV ratings are all sourced (from the official account of GMA Public Affairs — one of the leading news outlets in the Philippines).

If you checked the history of the times the page was edited, you can see the page is updated every day, specifically every after each of the episode is aired on TV (except for the previous episodes that were moved from its main page). This page is designed after every single Philippine television show pages that has separate pages for the list of the shows episodes. There is nothing plagiarised from my work and they are all actively updated everyday. Loibird90 (talk) 09:19, 9 September 2022 (UTC)

Templating the regulars

Please don't apply the orphan template to articles that are less than three minutes old. Abductive (reasoning) 10:34, 10 September 2022 (UTC)

Sorry about that, Abductive. AWB doesn't show how new the article is, nor who created it, so that's a bit problematic. When I'm creating a new article, I always (well, almost always) put {{construction}} on the page, AWB does show that or {{inuse}}, so it's easy to skip over those. And thanks for all your contributions to the project.Onel5969 TT me 10:43, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
I see. But the construction tag doesn't really apply to the task of adding incoming links. So a stub could be completely finished (I often do them in one or two edits), but still momentarily be an orphan. Abductive (reasoning) 10:46, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
Abductive - Let me check something out in a bit. AWB queues up in creation order, apparently beginning with the newest articles. After I finish the queue this morning, I'll check to see if it will queue in reverse order, and doesn't keep adding new stuff to the queue, that way, I won't be looking at just created articles. Onel5969 TT me 10:56, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
Groovy. Abductive (reasoning) 10:57, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
Abductive - okay, while I can't reverse sort by time, I can put them in alpha order, that should alleviate any issues about newness for the most part. Onel5969 TT me 11:22, 10 September 2022 (UTC)

Bath Interferometer

It looks like you reverted my recent changes to the Bath_interferometer_(common_path) page.

My changes were to remove mention of "on axis" Bath as I was mistaken when I originally discussed that - someone pointed out that a "on axis bath" is something completely different and not found in any published literature so I wanted to remove that term. Maybe I should explain this on the talk page? Is that the issue? Or in the edit summary? I may have forgotten to mention anything in the edit summary. Is that the issue? Gr5555 (talk) 13:52, 10 September 2022 (UTC)

Not sure why you think that Gr5555, I've never edited the page, simply reviewed it. You can figure out who did the edit by looking at the page history. Onel5969 TT me 14:05, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
Oh! Hmm. Okay. I'm now thinking I never finished my edits and hit the publish button. It's just that I got an email from wikipedia saying the page "had been changed" by you and when I looked there were no changes for months. Even though I was pretty sure I changed it a few days ago. I'll do my edits again. Gr5555 (talk) 18:02, 10 September 2022 (UTC)

Hi, I want to make a page about the town of Sagua la Chica but it redirects to Camajuaní, the person who made it is inactive and in wondering if I should/could make the page? Thank you!CubanoBoi (talk) 18:03, 10 September 2022 (UTC)

CubanoBoi - If you think there is enough sourcing to show that it meets notability criteria, it's perfectly fine to change the redirect into a regular page, as long as the Sagua la Chica you're creating is the same one as the one in Camajuani. If it isn't let me know and I'll turn the redirect into a dab page, and you can create a wholly new article. Onel5969 TT me 21:38, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
thank you!!!!! CubanoBoi (talk) 21:39, 10 September 2022 (UTC)

Hello, friends, and thank you for your thoughts on the subject at hand. I saw your comment, which stated that the "article contains content that is written like an advertisement." Please keep in mind that I contributed to that article solely on the basis of my knowledge of the subject and nothing else. As a result, I recommend that you make any changes you deem necessary and remove the template message. You can, however, highlight to me the areas you believe are advertising him. You should understand that everyone has their own style of writing articles, which may be perceived as advertising by some. Thank you. Safercontent (talk) 23:17, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
