If you desire to patrol new pages, then this semi-automated tool is good for you. It can keep a log of your work as well as notify the author automatically. Thanks TheSpecialUserTalkContributions 05:56, 15 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the offer, but I don't think I'll need it. -One.tenth (talk) 14:19, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

CVUA

[edit]

Hey 1/10th. I just wanted to talk with you about your participation as an Instructor at the CVU Academy. Generally, we require Instructors to be well-versed in Vandalism reverts, as evidenced by a long track-record of good changes and, possibly, the Rollback bit. With just over 100 edits yourself, I think it's maybe just a little early for you to consider yourself a good candidate for Instructor. Perhaps you'd like to help out the other Divisions of The Counter-Vandalism Unit while you get your wits about you. Do you understand where I'm coming from? Achowat (talk) 12:18, 11 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, me and Achowat have decided it may be best that I take one if your students, so I will now instruct Vertium. Thanks.--Chip123456 (talk) 17:27, 11 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed, would also like to see a userpage. Can we remove you from the instructors list until you have some more edits and/or rollback rights? Dan653 (talk) 19:44, 11 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Also I noticed on your "tools used" that you use rollback and huggle, which is impossible, since you don't have rollback rights. Now you have some explaining to do. Dan653 (talk) 20:44, 11 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
You have been removed from the instructor status page. Electriccatfish2 (talk) 00:52, 12 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
First of all, I didn't see anything on the CVU instructor page which said that there had to be a 'long track record' with recent changes. I believe that simply understanding the relevant policies WP:VAND, WP:REVERT, WP:WARNING is sufficient. Also, I think it's a bit rude that you decided to go ahead and remove me from the list without waiting for a response. I already adopted the user. It's a bit rude to claim Vertium as a student without waiting for my response. -One.tenth (talk) 01:12, 12 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes those words were not specifically on the page along with anything talking about the requirements for instruction. On this page we do say "instructors should have demonstrated a committment to countering vandalism, an understanding of the relevant Vandalism policies and guidelines, and a history of being civil, showing understanding, and working to help new Users." Honestly 100 edits (while it may seem like a lot) is not many at all and it would be unfair to the students to say that you demonstrated commitment, understanding, a history of being civil, and working to help users, with only 100 edits to judge you by. Yes, it was rude to take one of your students and remove you from the instructors list and while done in the best interest of the students, I apoligize for my fellow editors actions. I hope you understand it was in the best interest of the students you took who separately had 30x and 3x (≈33x more experience) as much editing experience as you. Shouldn't the instructor know more than the student? Also, could you please answer my previous questions: why don't you have a userpage and why did you put under the "tools used" column that you use rollback and huggle, which is impossible? Dan653 (talk) 02:19, 12 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
For the rollback, huggle and TW issue - I misread it as meaning that I would have to explain these tools to the students. I don't think that a person's edit count is necessarily indicative of their 'experience'. There's more to gauge a person's experience with the way in which they edit, rather than judging it purely on numbers. I believe that I am qualified to instruct users. -One.tenth (talk) 03:18, 12 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The community has a system for determine when a user is deemed competent enough at identifying and reverting vandalism. That is the procedure for granting the Rollback bit. Moreover, the Academy has determined that certain thresholds for Enrollment, with the understanding that Instructors be more qualified. Your defense here has shown me that you're more than energetic about this project, and we welcome that excitement. Might I suggest hanging out at WP:CVUAQ or helping out with the Think Tank, Vandalism Studies or just with Counter-Vandalism in general. I'm sorry, but "Instructor" just doesn't seem like the right role for you at this time. If an Admin and the community trusts you enough with the Rollback bit, we can re-examine it, but Instructor-ship is for more experienced users.
See my comments made under 'Instructor' on WP:CVUAQ. -One.tenth (talk) 12:31, 12 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

CVUA

[edit]
  • 1. I did not make bad AIV reports, I rather added comments that seemed like I was an admin about improper warnings.
  • 2. The STiki use was a good-faith revert that I made to a page, where another user put something in Danish on a page that I didn't understand.
And making such comments is clearly inappropriate, without the use of clear identification. Reverting as 'test/vandalism' is not the same as reverting in good faith. The correct option would obviously be the 'Good faith revert'. So apparently it's okay to say that I am "clueless about vandalism", but when I point out some of the flaws in your own edit history - that's a personal attack?-One.tenth (talk) 23:11, 12 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A beer for you!

[edit]
I apologize on behalf of myself and the other instructors at the CVUA. We acted very inappropriately towards you in regards to your status as an instructor. I feel awful and would like to apologize to you on behalf of us and the entire academy staff. If you are still interested in helping us out, please speak to Dan653 or Achowat. Once again, I am deeply sorry and hope you accept our apologies. Regards! Electriccatfish2 (talk) 00:20, 13 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Apology accepted. I'll continue with my counter-vandalism work and I'll perhaps consider joining in the future. NB - I also activated TW. -One.tenth (talk) 13:19, 13 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
