Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Omarabdullah24, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Ian and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Speedy deletion nomination of Eckstein-Norton University

[edit]

Hello Omarabdullah24,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Eckstein-Norton University for deletion, because it's too short to identify the subject of the article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Meatsgains (talk) 19:33, 7 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Can you check to see my Wiki page has any plagiarism involved?

Omar Omarabdullah24 (talk) 21:50, 7 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You're asking others to check whether you plagiarized? Shouldn't you know that yourself? Since the likely sources are unidentifiable and hidden behind a University of New Orleans login, no one without an UNO account will be able to even determine what you might have plagiarized there. See WP:Referencing for beginners on how to easily create nicely-formatted footnotes that provide some metadata such as the name of the author, the title of the work, the publication date and so on - then even people who cannot log in to UNO's library will at least have a chance of checking the references. Omarabdullah24 (talk) 06:00, 8 December 2016 (UTC) Okay I've got everything ready. I have my own page but someone siad I couldn't use that one and told me to go to the main page to improve on it.[reply]

Help me!

Where exactly do I turn in my assignment?

[edit]

I removed the content at the page you just created, Nannie H Burroughs, and replaced it with a redirect to Nannie H. Burroughs, since the latter page already contains a biography of this person. However, if you look at the page history of the page you created, located at [1], then you can recover the content you created, and integrate any of the content you added that was not already at Nannie H. Burroughs into the latter article. I did this because Wikipedia only has one article for each topic, since we want to all collaborate to make one great article about each topic rather than having several competing articles. Let me know if anything is unclear; welcome to Wikipedia! CapitalSasha ~ talk 05:07, 8 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Omarabdullah24 (talk) 05:13, 8 December 2016 (UTC) Excuse me but that's an assignment I need for my professor tomorrow. THis is what I picked.[reply]

Unfortunately Wikipedia can't have two articles about the same subject. I would imagine that what you are supposed to do for your assignment is to improve the existing article. CapitalSasha ~ talk 05:15, 8 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Omarabdullah24 (talk) 05:22, 8 December 2016 (UTC) What do you mean I can delete stuff from the main article and insert my typing in there.[reply]

You can edit the existing article to add more content and make it better, yes. You can add more information to that article, for example. You shouldn't delete information at the existing article unless you have a good reason, though: such edits are likely to be reverted.

THis is coming from the old user "Nannie Helen Burroughs papers, 1900-1963 (Library of Congress), Biographical Note (Woman's Auxiliary of the National Baptist Convention of the United States of America)". 2001 (last updated 2010 April). Retrieved 2010-10-27.

Check date values in: |date= (help) this appears in red what should I do with it.

I removed the updated note which fixed the problem. CapitalSasha ~ talk 06:05, 8 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Omarabdullah24 (talk) 06:03, 8 December 2016 (UTC) Can you review the page I've edited?[reply]

I'm concerned about the amount of content that you've removed. Why did those paragraphs need to be deleted? CapitalSasha ~ talk 06:07, 8 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Omarabdullah24 (talk) 06:10, 8 December 2016 (UTC) Okay I'll be honest I was editing before I asked and didn't know. Is there a way you can put some of it back without deleting mine.[reply]

Omarabdullah24 (talk) 06:45, 8 December 2016 (UTC) Can anything be done?[reply]

You can look at the page history and reincorporate the text you deleted into the article. CapitalSasha ~ talk 15:59, 8 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
