Thank you for creating Raufarhólshellir. But it will get deleted unless you put it in your own words. Do not infringe on copyright. Thank you.Calaka (talk) 12:15, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Raufarhólshellir requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. (copied from article talk page)

the entry is not a copy of http://www.showcaves.com/english/misc/caves/Raufarholshellir.html, The only line taken from there is the line with measurements of the cave.it can't be considered as copyright violation because it is publicly available scientific fact(not discovered by above mentioned web page).i ve visited this cave on several occasions and mentioned measurements(and most of the rest of the article on showcaves.com) are n display near the entrance and on no account can be seen as "belonging"to showcaves.com . i ask you to reconsider your decision. —Preceding unsigned comment added byOlevsk (talkcontribs) 14:32, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The "single phrase" represented almost the entirety of the content, and while measurements can't be copyrighted, the exact turn of phrase used by showcaves.com is copyrighted and can't be reused without permission, since there's a very clear copyright notice at the bottom of the page. You are welcome to rewrite an article, in your own words, in your userspace (for example at User:Olevsk/Raufarholshellir) and then ask someone at WP:N? to help you get it moved to a true article title. Please consider, however, reading this guideline on writing your first article before you attempt to recreate it directly, as the article had several other issues which would have warranted a deletion regardless of the copyright violation.
Please understand that Wikipedia takes copyright extremely seriously and cannot keep text from third parties once we know of its existence. For further information on that topic, you may also want to familiarize yourself with our policies on copyright.
If you need any assistance, you can place {{helpme}} (note the curly brackets) on your talk page, or leave me a message on mine. Good luck! MLauba (talk) 18:27, 18 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
