Request help once more on my dad's Wiki page "Harris Levey" comics
Dear Old English, You likely recall all of the wonderful hep and encouragement yo were in as siting me to follow the wikipedia rules yet still post a bio on my dad's contribution to the Golden Age of comics. I cannot thank yo enough. PianoTech too. I stooped editing my dad's page after taking a break for several months, because I found that I had forgotten all of the rules and best practices for positing new info and modifying this page and adding citations, etc. I pretty much felt it was too overwhelming to re-learn and move forward, so I left wiki, content knowing that my dad at least had a nice initial bio. My hope was that some fans of my dad, or his air wave comic creation might take up where I left off, adding new material and helping to post relevant links and documentation. Unfortunately, this did not happen (much). Several years have elapsed and after 4 years of my carryon gout further research on my dad's career, and collaborating with respected Golden Age Comic Historian, Roy Thomas to document my dad's many artistic contributions to Detective comics and other comics as well, Roy's publisher, John Morrow over at: www.twomorrows.com will be featuring the artwork and story of my dad's contributions in their upcoming Alter Ego Magazine, issue #125, in June 2014 (it will actually start to ship out in May, 2014): http://twomorrows.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1123 as yo can imagine I am thrilled about this pending publication. Sat this critical juncture, I feel inclined once again to add some new artwork, photos and information into my dad's wikipedia article, but I am still almost "phobic" ;) about trying to post this since I would need to spend hours again, learning the rules, methods, etc. I wonder if yo might be willing and available to help me a bit , both with postings and with advice. I recall that I could never remember how many tildes to out at the end of my messages to people (Jonathan Levey (talk) 01:26, 8 February 2014 (UTC)), so I hope this will start to come back to me soon and all will move forward. I'd like to begin by knowing if there a permissible way to put the link to my dad's upcoming Alter Ego article, but I am pretty sure this is NOT allowed since it will (understandably) be viewed a s advertising. Still, might a mention of this publication: the name of the magazine and the issue number and title , be posted? Also I have some photos of my dad that I would like t pst in the upper right corner of his page where his main bio info is... but "how" to do that? If I send yo the photo as an attachment can yo help me to do this asap? If so, should it be at low-resolution or high resolution (ie. 75DPI, 200DPI or 600DPI). Please advise.
Here is the link to hi upcoming feature story: http://twomorrows.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1123

- (talk page stalker) Regarding any photos you took yourself, you can upload them to Commons under a free licence—you should already have an account there from the unification, but you may want to check that it’s in order first, under “Global account status” in your Preferences. Images should have the highest available useful resolution; the servers automatically generate various sizes of preview & thumbnail for every file in the system. For photos taken by others you‘ll need an OTRS ticket certifying their granting of a suitable licence. As for putting them in the article, have a look at some other biographies for examples; many of them use Template:Infobox person to display the ‘vital statistics‘ and a portrait in the top right corner.—Odysseus1479 03:04, 8 February 2014 (UTC)
Request urgent help to properly tag image on my dad's wiki page: Harris Levey Comic book illustrator
Can you please help me to tag the black and white image of two men sitting at an art table that is shown in the upper right corner of my wiki article on Harris Levey?
https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Harris_Levey
This 1940 photo image that was given to me by the deceased owner (my father, Harris Levey).
I tried to follow the wiki rules for tagging photos but must have done this incorrectly as the imageTaggingBot sent me a notification that my image was not tagged (to see its message, click on the following link and scroll down to bottom of the page: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User_talk:Jonathanlevey
The best help would be for someone to actually make this required modification for me as I have sent hours on the computer and wiki tutorials trying to learn how to execute this process correctly. But to no avail Many thanks!Jonathan Levey (talk) 04:33, 8 February 2014 (UTC)
Urgent help needed! Harris Levey
File:Photo_4_Harris_and_Weisinger_Art_table.jpeg
Please communicate with the wiki editor that has flagged my page/photo for speedy deletion and help me to upload the photo of my dad properly according to the wiki rules and regulations. I was given this photo by the owner (my late father) and therefore I am now the owner. But i obviously did not know how to fill out the wiki form properly for uploading this photo. I checked the box that said I received the photo from the owner, but I also checked the box that I would get the licence for it and that is was a photo in the public domain. I am guessing this is all wrong. Please help. My biggest fear/concern is that I am worried my entire page on my dad may be slated for immediate deletion. I sure hope not. And if it is, I sure hope you can help notify the wiki editors so that it remains, and tell them I was a well intentioned wiki author but not tech savvy enough to follow the correct procedures. If you look at my edit history for last nite you will see spent hours trying to follow the iwki tutorials and correct procedures to upload this photo, but did not succeed to do it properly. If you can also help me to tag the photo properly and post it, this too would be of greatly appreciated. I could send you the image as an attachment via your personal email, if yo are willing to help in this way. If it is too much trouble, I will understand of course.
BTW, I did post a note on the wiki editor's page --the one that tagged my page/photo for speedy deletion, asking him to keep the page and hopefully the photo. He has not responded yet. His Wiki name seems to be: Ww2censor
and his talk page and my note to him should be found at: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User_talk:Ww2censor#I_am_not_very_tech_savvy:_I_Request_your_help_to_keep_the_black_and_white_photo_and_page_at:_.5B.5BHarris_Levey.7D.7D

Request help to re-post my dad's photo on his Harris Levey (comic illustrator page) Harris Levey
The photo I posted and was recently removed by the Wiki imagebot, was a small blk and why photo that my dad took of himself and a now deceased co-worker at hi s art table in 1946, using his Rolleiflex camera's self-timer. My mom gave me this photo as a moment of my dad, along with his Rolleiflex camera that was issued to him during WW!!. I tried to follow the wiki licensing rules but found it much to confusing for me to figure out how to post this photo properly. If I send the image over to you, OlEnglish, could you kindly consider seeing if you can properly post it into the Bio box found at the upper right corner of my dad's wiki page? This very same photo by the way, will be published in a feature story on my dad's life and contributions to Golden Age comics, in June 2014. Perhaps once it is published, it will be easier to post on wiki, but I would prefer if I could send it over to you and have yo post it sooner, if possible. Thanks for considering this special and timely request. JonathanJonathan Levey (talk) 04:47, 19 February 2014 (UTC)
- Okay, why don't you re-upload the image and then I'll see if I can help you add the appropriate license. User:ww2censor recommended Template:PD-because so we'll use that. -- Ϫ 10:39, 19 February 2014 (UTC)
Thanks OlEnglish! I am afraid to "undo" or re-load the same image onto my dad's page again. Here is the url link that leads to this photo posted on my Facebook page:
https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/t1/1888749_10202263551682950_1833695530_n.jpg
Here is the same photo in a smaller size format: https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/t1/p168x128/1888749_10202263551682950_1833695530_n.jpg
I hope the above is sufficient for yo to re-post properly.
Your willingness to make this effort is very much appreciated.
As you recall, you were so helpful when I first created my dad's wiki page. :)
In case you are interested, here is the link to the ad that announces the feature story on my dad's contributions that will be published in Alter Ego's upcoming #125 June 2014 publication. As yo might guess, I am very excited. This has been a four year collaboration, and correspondence between myself and noted Golden Age historian and editor Roy Thomas, to finally produce this story. :)

Dear OlEnglish. As yo suggested, I have uploaded the photo onto my dad's Wiki page Harris Levey via the link you suggested, and wrote a brief caption which would be good to insert under the photo, if possible. Many thanks for your help! Here is the link to the photo: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/File:Harris_Levey_Art_table.jpg don't know if you need this. Hope you can take it form here and succeed to give it the proper tags so that Wiki will not remove it again.
I don't know why, OlEnglish, but even though I thought I uploaded the photo correctly via the link you gave, the photo does not appear at all on my dad's wiki page. I guess it needs to be approved, or the code with the url path and file name needs to be inserted into the edit section of the page. Please help. ghettoizing
Hi - fyi this edit [1] ghettoized the woman, by placing her in a woman-only category while leaving her out of the generic one. Please avoid doing this - read Amanda Filipacchi's article on american women novelists and the brouhaha that this caused to find out why, or read WP:EGRS which suggests this should be avoided.--Obi-Wan Kenobi (talk) 16:18, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
- I don't know about the term "ghettoized", but I did find it kind of odd that a separate category for women bartenders even existed. But since it did exist I decided to add to it. Looking back on it now I probably should have just CfD'd the category. -- Ϫ 01:14, 18 March 2014 (UTC)

Nothing in the article about Tuberculosis. The article states: Like many glassmakers of his era who were poisoned by heavy metal vapours, Fraunhofer died young. Is there a reason you added the TB cat? Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 21:39, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
- Hi yes you're right, the article doesn't mention it, and I should've added the content with a ref I know I'm sorry. I first noticed it at the Talk page. When I checked I found a couple other sources also mentioning that he had tuberculosis when he died, though not necessarily that it was explicitly the cause of his death. That said, I have no objections to you removing the category or perhaps even changing it to Category:Deaths by poisoning. -- Ϫ 02:18, 17 April 2014 (UTC)
Rcats on Low Level Virtual Machine
My original edit was not entirely careless; as I explained in this later edit summary, it is the target article that states it is a former name. Sorry for forgetting r from move though; I've often forgotten to check the history on redirects I am categorizing.
As for the inapplicability of r from initialism, that was discussed at WT:Categorizing redirects#Can former names also be short/long names? (permalink), where it was determined that most such rcats require the alternative forms of the name to be in simultaneous use and hence are not recommended for former names. --SoledadKabocha (talk) 17:07, 17 April 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry for getting "from initialism" and "to initialism" mixed up, but that doesn't really change my point: If the discussion in question applies to both r from short name and r from long name, then logically it should apply to both r from initialism and r to initialism. Were both "LLVM" and "Low Level Virtual Machine" officially-sanctioned names for some time in the past? Again, I'm not willingly being careless. --SoledadKabocha (talk) 01:24, 18 April 2014 (UTC)
- To answer my own question, the target article states "The name LLVM was originally an initialism for Low Level Virtual Machine." Therefore I am fine with the current categorization. Sorry again for any inconvenience / notification spam. --SoledadKabocha (talk) 08:02, 24 April 2014 (UTC)

Special Request re: featured publication substantiating: Harris Levey (comic illustrator page) Harris Levey
Dear OlEnglish...
After four years of correspondence and communication with expert historian and highly respected editor of Golden Age Comics (and Alter Ego Magazine), Roy Thomas, and following an official interview for AE Magazine, by noted writer Richard Arndt (Feb. 2012), I am very proud to tell you that a Feature article on my dad, Harris Levey (aka "Lee Harris") and his contributions as an illustrator of Air Wave and other super heroes dousing the Golden Age era of Comics, has recently been published. I believe the information which is written in this article along with the artwork and photos, my help to authenticate and provide further citations for my dad's work and his contributions. I would like to know if you can post at least a few highlights gleaned from this article and perhaps at least the an image or two of my dad's documented artwork, onto my dad's Wikipedia page? Here is the link to the publishing company that is promoting this feature article on my dad: http://twomorrows.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1123
Thank you for your consideration.
Please let me know if you are willing to help out in some way, over the May, June and July months.
No pressure, or deadline, of course. I seem to recall that you have a personal appreciation of Golden age artwork and you have been so incredibly helpful to date, so I thought you might not mind considering this special request.
As yo might imagine, I am both very proud and grateful that my dad's work has been recognized in the Alter Ego Magazine, in such a way and I hope that some of the verified facts and information will help to substantiate and deepen the content of my dad's current Wiki article, as well.

Would you be willing to close Wikipedia:Media Viewer/June 2014 RfC? I started the RfC but did not vote in it, so I could close it myself, but I think it's preferable to have another editor close the discussion. Thanks, --Pine✉ 06:20, 9 July 2014 (UTC)
- I wouldn't want to close it just yet as there still seems to be an ongoing discussion. I prefer to wait a least 2-3 days after the last person who edited the page before closing, to let them finish off their thoughts, and not feel like they've been cut off. -- Ϫ 06:34, 9 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. I happened across a very long-lasting (but quite brief) merge discussion at Talk:Ksar and took it upon myself to close it. Whenever you have a minute, I’d be most grateful if you could have a look at my edits there & at Kasbah, since I haven‘t closed a discussion before, and let me know if anything’s amiss.—Odysseus1479 05:29, 13 August 2014 (UTC)

Luta Livre
I have made my edits to the article. You can place it in mainspace when you feel like it. Additionally you can shorten the name. What is the possibility that it might get deleted? https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User:CrazyAces489/Luta_livre_esportiva
CrazyAces489 (talk) 11:47, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
- You can move it to mainspace yourself, see Wikipedia:Moving a page for instructions. There's always a possibility of deletion for any article. It would depend on what the nominator's rationale for deletion would be and if it's line with Wikipedia's policies. -- Ϫ 19:50, 31 August 2014 (UTC)
- I would love to as per your suggestion. https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User_talk:CrazyAces489#User:CrazyAces489.2FLuta_livre_esportiva I did though just see that someone created the exact same article today. https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Luta_Livre . Any suggestions?
- Wow, well isn't that interesting! hehe. I would suggest contacting the creator of that new page on their talk page, linking them to your version of the article, and see if they are willing to collaborate with you on improving the article. If you find you cannot reach them then just go ahead and edit the existing article incorporating the content from your article, and then we can have an article that's even twice as good! :) -- Ϫ 18:24, 1 September 2014 (UTC)

Re: Considered RfA perhaps?
Hey OE! Thank you for your kind words and offer. Unfortunately, I still feel much too inexperienced in many areas of WP. I'm going to be honest here and lay all the cards out on the table (even if it may be to my detriment for any future AFD) – I've only participated in a handful of AFD's; I've never touched CSD, AIV or RPP in my four years here; my use of ES is low; and in several incidents over the years I've lost my temper that resulted in unbecoming behaviour that would probably constitute incivility. So although I'd feel honoured and humbled to accept an RFA, I'm afraid I cannot do so at this time. Maybe at a later date, who knows? Once again, thank you for considering me as a potential candidate. —Bloom6132 (talk) 21:39, 18 September 2014 (UTC)

Request help to post new source/link RE: Harris Levey (aka Lee Harris, Air Wave Comic illustrator)
Dear OlEnglish, You have been so helpful to my in the past in terms of my dad's Wiki page, and ensuring relevant info and photos were properly posted, etc. Thank you so much, again, for sharing your time and expertise in this way. My late father's artwork for DC comics and other publications, carried out during the Golden Age of comics, was featured prominently in the in issue # 125 (June 2014) of Alter Ego Magazine: http://twomorrows.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=122&products_id=1123 Any help you can give me, to post this link or at least list this specific issue/publication as having relevant info on my dad's life contributions to the Golden Age of Comics would be greatly appreciated. 199.243.180.70 (talk) 17:30, 20 October 2014 (UTC)Jonathan
I posted the following text on the Wiki page of Harris Levey (illustrator). I hope it meets the Wiki guidelines so that it remains posted, but if it is not posted correctly, I would greatly appreciate it OlEnglish, if you could proof and revise this text accordingly so that the information and link to the June 2014 article on my dad remains. Many thanks. Jonathan Levey (talk) 19:43, 1 November 2014 (UTC)Jonathan

Copyright checks when performing AfC reviews
Hello OlEnglish. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to you in particular.
The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when hallmarks of copyvios in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered.
If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied from the draft, rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the Wayback Machine is very useful for sussing that out.)
If you do find a copyright violation, please do not decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Wikipedia to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using {{db-g12|url=URL of source}}. If there is an assertion of permission, please replace the draft article's content with {{subst:copyvio|url=URL of source}}.
Some of the more obvious indicia of a copyvio are use of the first person ("we/our/us..."), phrases like "this site", or apparent artifacts of content written for somewhere else ("top", "go to top", "next page", "click here", use of smartquotes, etc.); inappropriate tone of voice, such as an overly informal tone or a very slanted marketing voice with weasel words; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.
I hope this message finds you well and thanks again you for your efforts in this area. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC).
