Sufi Numeer

hi u recently you made correction to a page i created please help me retrieve links on following page Sufi_Numeer_discography — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kashmirtalkw (talkcontribs) 04:49, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

@Kashmirtalkw:I don't understand what you need me to do. I didn't delete or remove anything from the article you linked. I corrected an error on the redirect Numeer nabi, which didn't have any links. Are you referring to the similarly titled Numeer Nabi? Oiyarbepsy (talk) 06:28, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

Mojibake

I am not trying to WP:CANVAS or persuade you, but I think your listings at RfD are much like User:Steel1943's in that only an idiot would think them helpful. You are quite right to list (indeed you have no option at the moment) but some are such patent nonsense that they could well go speedy.

I manageed to sneak one through CSD one from RfD the other day, and it amazed both Steely and I that it went speedy R3. That then allowed him to do a lot more fixup because there was precedent at CSD these go deleted. But I am wholeheartedly in favour of making the criteria clearer, be it "no" or "yes", at the moment it is too vague. Si Trew (talk) 11:04, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

My fault there. Sorry to both. I was just trying to suggest that the Japanese mojibake and so on are similar in that regard, and deliberately put in usernames so that they would hear about it. Which was somewhat right but as usual I cocked it up! My fault; I thought Gorobay was an admin so am not sure why that is red on my links here. Si Trew (talk) 11:09, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
Still a bit confused, I went to RfD to check and indeed User_talk:Gorobay exists but not User:Gorobay. Have I fingered the wrong man? Both were red when I wrote it. Si Trew (talk) 11:16, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Si Trew, it's the correct person; Gorobay doesn't have/hasn't created a user page, thus the reason why the links to their user page appear red. (Oiyarbepsy, sorry about the flood of talk page notifications you are probably getting in regards to this discussion; I believe that this will be my final comment in regards to this on your page.) Steel1943 (talk) 11:20, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
Unconfused. Oiyarbepsy listed it, I hit the wrong thing. Mea culpa and sorry. I really just wanted to let interested parties know, and I have! Finished and no more stalking. Si Trew (talk) 11:18, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

@SimonTrew:The only issue I have here is "only an idiot would think them helpful" which is not an acceptable way to describe another editor's actions. (Actually, with another read, I see you are calling two other editors idiots) Oiyarbepsy (talk) 15:15, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

Oh, no, I didn't mean it that way but reading it now I can imagine how it sounded that. All editors are idiots by definition, since otherwise we would get paid for our talents! What I meant more was that many of these redirects are just so obviously harmful (in that they make it harder to search) that I doubt anyone would object to them being deleted, that was my intent in saying "only an idiot would...". Certainly I was not suggesting you, nor Steely, nor Gorobay, are idiots: I am! I was trying actually to kinda thank them and you for the amazing hard work tracking these down, and obviously that misfired, I am sorry about that. Si Trew (talk) 06:20, 23 January 2015 (UTC)

Why?

Why? Chris Troutman (talk) 15:40, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

The articles are about the same organization and the content is very similar. In my view, everything that applies to Human Resources (gallery) also applies to Human Resources (Non-Profit), since the articles are so similar. Oiyarbepsy (talk) 15:42, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
Ok. That's going to be a problem, as you're essentially changing the topic of the AfD. But you have my attention now. Chris Troutman (talk) 16:06, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

Reformat

MelanieN's RfA: I've altered the start of your post in Oppose from ##: to #::. Two hashes starts a new numbering, but I assumed you meant just to indent. Peridon (talk) 11:36, 17 January 2015 (UTC)

Redirect

I wonder why you still redirect a banned user's talk to the user page, instead of - if you absolutely feel you have to do such a thing - the other way round? The talk is for conversation, and at least two people told you. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:42, 19 January 2015 (UTC)

ps: a third user: asked for "As requested by user - a simple courtesy", one edit before yours. Listen, please, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:44, 19 January 2015 (UTC)

Meh, I guess it doesn't matter much either way. I'll just leave the banned notice wherever it is from now on. I'm not sure who the other user saying this is, I don't remember such a comment. Oiyarbepsy (talk) 16:53, 19 January 2015 (UTC)

Note also that when you rename a User talk: page to a User: page as a way to move the banned-sockpuppet template, the entire history of the user's talk page ends up as the history of the user page. This leaves two misleading impressions for any admin (or other editor) who subsequently looks at the page. First, it makes it look like no one ever left any messages for the user on his talk page. Second, it makes it look like admins (or other editors) were leaving messages and warnings for the user on his user page, instead of his talk page.

If you want 'fix' these issues going forward – though it's difficult to see what the harm is, or that it's worth the effort – just copy the template to the user page; don't rename the user talk page. TenOfAllTrades(talk) 17:38, 19 January 2015 (UTC)

Neotarf

Hi, I am trying to let a banned user leave with dignity. This helps them, and it also helps us. Please don't edit Neotarfs user pages again. Thank you. Jehochman Talk 18:41, 19 January 2015 (UTC)

Oxbridge TfD

You recently closed the {{Infobox Cambridge college}}/ {{Infobox Oxford college}} merger proposal as "don't merge", with no refernce to the points made during that discussion. TfD is not a vote. Please reconsider. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 12:26, 23 January 2015 (UTC)

I read thru the discussion again and didn't see anything suggesting that the consensus should have been any different. Not a single editor supported your merge proposal in either discussions. (Yes, one withdrew their oppose, but they didn't state support, and they were still greatly out-numbered). When the consensus is obvious, as it is here, there is no need to explain it. All the opposes below provide plenty of explanation. Oiyarbepsy (talk) 15:22, 23 January 2015 (UTC)
