Introduction to contentious topics
[edit]You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Additionally, you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days, and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template. jlwoodwa (talk) 06:09, 23 July 2024 (UTC)
You have recently made edits related to Armenia, Azerbaijan, or related conflicts. This is a standard message to inform you that Armenia, Azerbaijan, or related conflicts is a designated contentious topic. This message does not imply that there are any issues with your editing. For more information about the contentious topics system, please see Wikipedia:Contentious topics. jlwoodwa (talk) 15:11, 23 July 2024 (UTC)
Communication with other editors
[edit]You have stated in your edit summaries and your userpage that other users should contact you off-wiki and not use talk pages. Please review Wikipedia:Communication is required... Wikipedia editors are expected to communicate on-wiki through talk pages, except when discussing sensitive information. I encourage you to reconsider your position. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 20:20, 23 July 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Please do not create, maintain or restore hoaxes on Wikipedia, as you did at Gaza Metro. If you are interested to know how accurate Wikipedia is, a more constructive test method would be to try to find inaccurate statements already in Wikipedia – and, if possible, correct them. Please do not disrupt Wikipedia. Continued disruption will be met with sanctions, which could include a block from editing. Feel free to take a look at the five pillars of Wikipedia to learn more about this project and how you can contribute constructively. Thank you. jlwoodwa (talk) 22:13, 23 July 2024 (UTC)
Hello, I'm Viewmont Viking. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. --VVikingTalkEdits 13:40, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you should review the guide to appealing blocks, and then appeal your block by adding the following text below this notice:
{{unblock|Your reason here ~~~~}}
. Note that anything you post in your unblock request will be public, so you may alternatively use the Unblock Ticket Request System to submit an appeal if it contains information that must be private.Administrators: Checkusers have access to confidential system logs not accessible by the public or by administrators due to the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy. You must not loosen or remove this block, or issue an IP block exemption, without consulting with a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee. Administrators who undo checkuser blocks without permission from a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee may be summarily desysopped.
- @Ponyo: As per User:331dot's advice below, I will explain why I should be unblocked. I checked Special:Contributions/Ogundareibrahim123 and Special:Contributions/Bhinegar and I don't see how I'm editing about the same topics as them. As for technical evidence, there is none that I'm aware of, as I'm not a checkuser and don't have access to that information, so I cannot speak for that at all. If I want to be unblocked, how to I prove that I'm not User:Bhinegar, because I'm afraid that as a regular user, I don't have access to the evidence that was used against me. - You are clearly the same editor as Cmnpt. I won't be replying further.-- Ponyobons mots 22:05, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
- User:Ponyo and User:331dot, I am pinging you both as this is the only page I can get help and I don't know who else to get help from. But I'm afraid that I can't keep editing this talk page, and it seems like my attempts to convince that I'm not a sock haven't been successful. Should I just wait for a few months, and if I don't make any edits for that time period, will I be allowed to edit here again? Or how long should I wait for? (indef block) And in the meantime, can I edit other Wikimedia projects that I'm not blocked on so I can be given a chance to show my genuine desire to help? Because I'm really not socking but it seems like my attempts to convince that aren't working, so if I just don't edit here for a given time period, will I be unblocked? And will I be allowed to edit other projects? Because I just want to make sure I'm not "breaking" any more rules to avoid more trouble, please let me know what I should do next, thank you for all your help. Ogundareibrahim123 (talk) 03:05, 8 August 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, not editing for awhile would be a good first step(see WP:SO). It's not the only thing you would need to do, but it's a start. You'll need to explain at that time why technical evidence might indicate you are related to another user. You are free to edit any Wikimedia projects where you are not blocked. 331dot (talk) 07:34, 8 August 2024 (UTC)

Ogundareibrahim123 (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
User:Ponyo or any administrator that reads this, I'm not sure if this is appropriate for an unblock request, if not let me know. I'm not a sockpuppet of User:Bhinegar, so how should I appeal and prove I'm not a sock? Ogundareibrahim123 (talk) 01:06, 6 August 2024 (UTC)
Decline reason:
This is a checkuser block, which means that that it is supported by technical evidence(that even I as an admin cannot see, only checkusers have access to it). If you're not a sock, you will need to explain why you are editing about the same topics as another user and are connected via technical evidence to that user. 331dot (talk) 08:00, 6 August 2024 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

[edit]A tag has been placed on Category:Pages using WikiProject Anthroponymy with unknown parameters indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 23:26, 27 July 2024 (UTC)
