Template:Swiss Confederation
[edit]Hi, Odengatan. You have recently replaced the infobox on Switzerland with a template {{Swiss Confederation}}. Is there any special reason why you did it ? Since the infobox is very unlikely to be used on any other page, putting it in a template does not bring any benefit — on the contrary, it probably uses a bit more ressources from the Wikipedia servers when the page is rendered. If you don't have any objection, I'll list the template on Wikipedia:Templates for Deletion; since your change has been reverted, having two copies of the infobox around will become confusing if one is modified and the other not. Cheers, Schutz 08:42, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
- On second thought, I have listed the template already, and I let you comment at Wikipedia:Templates for deletion/Log/2006 July 8 if you think it should be kept. Best, Schutz 09:33, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

Image:Sten-Rudholm.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Sten-Rudholm.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Chowbok ☠ 04:02, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi there. Why don't you split Russo-Turkish War Memorial column into a separate article? The monument is not an integral part of the cathedral. --Ghirla -трёп- 15:21, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
- Seems fair enough, we'll have the article split! Odengatan 16:50, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
- I suggest we move the article to Glory Column or Column of Glory, for disambiguation reasons. --Ghirla -трёп- 18:31, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
- Well, usually, I support litteral translations like articles I started: Monument to Alexander II instead of the Alexander II Memorial, and Moscow Triumphal Gates which actually sound a bit dyslectic... But, even though Column of Glory is the correct translation, the term seems quite disambigious in a Wikipedia perspective. The world is full of Columns of Glory - and something like Column of Glory (Trinity Cathedral, Saint Petersburg) doesn't make much sense. If you disagree you can always move the article. Odengatan 20:23, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
- By the way, I can't find the article about Stasov's twin military cathedral, that of the Saviour's Transfiguration. Can you take care of this? --Ghirla -трёп- 18:32, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
- Sure, I'll see to it.... And do you think you can write a couple of words about the new monsterious Gazprom HQ to be build near the historic center of St. Petersburg? Odengatan 20:36, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
- I really don't follow Gazprom plans that closely. From what I have seen, I don't think the winner of the competition is monstrous. Secondly, the decision about its construction has not been taken. --Ghirla -трёп- 07:37, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

Re: St. Michael's Palace
[edit]- Your article is not a stub, at least, and it may be DYKable. But, to be honest, I stopped contributing on Russian architecture topics, after I saw people post such miserable stubs as Saint Petersburg Great Choral Synagogue, Yelagin Palace or Yaroslavskiy Rail Terminal. I'm neither blind nor ignorant and I know too well which architectural articles Wikipedia lacks. What's the point of nurturing an article, preparing sketches and sources for it, carefully leaving red links where needed, when somebody would butt in and post a few disjointed lines instead? If they think their entries are so helpful to our readers, let them complete the articles they started as they wish. --Ghirla -трёп- 18:35, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
- That sounds depressing, but you're perfectly correct... I noticed that you seemed to have turned more towards biographies... Anyway, I couldn't imagine that you're losing you spirit so easy. After all the Russian project is so much superior to the Swedish part of Wikipedia, which, to put it diplomatically, is a virtual nightmare... --Odengatan 22:06, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

Swedish House of Nobility
[edit]You have changed the Swedish House of Knights to Swedish House of Lords. This change is very unfortunate. The term Swedish House of Nobility is used by Riddarhuset and Finnish House of Nobility by its Finnish counterpart. The word Riddarhuset has two meanings: 1) the palace in Stockholm/ Helsinki, and 2) the first este, i.e. Ridderskapet och Adeln. Neither the Swedish House of Nobility nor the Finnish House of Nobility will accept to be referred to as the House of Lords. There are no Lords in Sweden or Finland. "Lord" is an English defined term with no direct correspondence in Swedish. Your reference to old translations does not give support to your arguments as the old misleading term has been changed. The Swedish House of Nobility / Finnish House of Nobility is the established term (for loose reference use google: Swedish House of Nobility: 321 hits; Swedish House of Knights 315 hits; Swedish House of Lords: 7 hits). Teuton 12:12, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
- I don't think you addressed user:Odengatan's concerns about the really goofy name "House of the Knights", which I also seriously doubt was used in any ancient legal documents of Sweden. And you are excused, but Google search is certainly not the optimal way of finding legal documents from the 18th and 19th centuries, particularly not Swedish (I've tried myself...). Your claim that the Swedish nobility didn't observe the function of a system of hereditary Lords also seems pretty odd. I understand that Sweden until recently had special privilegies for "Lords", such as the hereditary right to the estate. I have a Swedish friend who inherited his estate thanks to that legislation only 15 years ago; a very interesting aspect of the Swedish "volkhem" model... --Camptown 22:54, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
- You are missing the point. I was not saying that there is no Swedish nobility. The term Lord is never used for Swedish nobility. There is no value in what you call "original translation" into English. House of Lords is not the correct term for the Swedish House. I have also not advocated the use of House of Knights, I said it is better than House of Lords. /Teuton 07:57, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

Image:Image:AOWallenberg.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:AOWallenberg.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 22:34, 13 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
- N.B. All images, regardless of copyright status require source information - i.e. where the digital image came from - this applies equally to images that are in the public domain because of their age. Madmedea 22:34, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:AlidaRossander.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

A tag has been placed on Parlino, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}}
on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Ernestvoice (talk) 16:09, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
