Welcome from Redwolf24

[edit]

Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. We as a community are glad to have you and thank you for creating a user account! Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Yes some of the links appear a bit boring at first, but they are VERY helpful if you ever take the time to read them.

Remember to place any articles you create into a category so we don't get orphans.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, please be sure to sign your name on Talk and vote pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, or three tildes (~~~) for just your name. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome.

Re:Image:KOAT_Logo.png - Disney?

[edit]
You're correct that the station is not own by ABC/Disney, I changed the logo copyrights for stations that have the Circle-7 or ABC logos on their logo which are ABC/Disney Copyrights

KTVX

[edit]

You have received this message because you have edited a Salt Lake City media article in the past. We have recently had an edit war regarding the wording and inclusion of a paragraph on the KTVX article. In hopes of resolving this I have put together an informal survey. If you are interested, please stop by Talk:KTVX and add a vote. Thanks, A 09:20, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Coming to NM

[edit]

Howdy, Oddtodd! Just wanted to say hello because I am currently considering making a move out to Albuquerque...I have found that a great way to get to know people is to contact Wikipedians in a given area, so if you would like to talk about New Mexico, or Wikipedia, or whatever, let me know.

Your job sounds interesting...I myself have been trying to start out with Wikinews and perhaps upload some video of newsworthy events. If you ever would like to collaborate on something along those lines, I would be thrilled to finally do it.

Perhaps if/when I get to Albuquerque we can hold the first ever WP meetup there! Best, Paul 04:58, 20 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

More Information on KOB-TV

[edit]

Hi there,

You don't mention which station you hail from, but I am an alum of KOB-TV, circa 2001. I'm a nerd at heart, and like you, interested in local TV history.

One of your pages referenced the fact you were looking for more information on KOB, and I didn't know if you were familiar with the book "KOB: Goddard's Magic Mast". It was written in the early 70's by a grad student at NMSU. When I left the Land of Entrapment (pun intented, (c) 2000 Mark Horner, used with permission), the Albuquerque Public Library had only one copy, in the New Mexico Collections library (or something like that). You can't check it out, but you can borrow it to read within the library.

Last I checked, there were a few copies floating around the state. One was at a used bookstore in Las Cruces. At the time they listed it on their website, but didn't sell via phone or internet, and by the time I made it that far out of town, it had been lost. They said it would proabably surface eventually. There was also a copy at the used bookstore that is across the street from the Frontier Restaurant, but they wanted an outrageous amount for it, and they're probably out of business by now anyway.

There were surprisingly few copies floating around KOB itself, and very few people even knew such a book existed. Mike Burgess had a copy in his office, but by the time I realized that, I'd already read it.

Anyhow, the book was less than 100 pages, an easy read sitting at the library. Worth a look if you're interested.

I don't know if this interests you (or anyone), but the KASA studios (upstairs at KOB-TV) are where the old KOB-AM and FM studios were. When they were installing the new set, they tossed tons of cool old-time radio stuff. Enough carts to sink a ship.  :-)

Conroy Chino and the EWN4 Investigative Unit used a large corner of the second floor as their office, until they were displaced by the new studio.

Best of luck at UNM, and with your journalism career.

KASY-TV

[edit]

KUPT-TV in Hobbs has no affiliation with KASY-TV....KUPT in Hobbs is with KMYL-TV in Lubbock. However KASY-TV can be seen in Hobbs on cable channel 13

I didn't put that in, but thank you. --Oddtoddnm 07:22, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:ReelzChannel logo.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:ReelzChannel logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Non-free use disputed for Image:KASA logo.png

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:KASA logo.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:53, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Louis_Caldera_UNM.jpg

[edit]
Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Louis_Caldera_UNM.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 12:49, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Entravision Logo.png. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
