The same duplicated image of Elvis has been added to Rock and roll by Godstime Elijah,[1] Ababio70[2] (now blocked), and Obiorah Precious Oby[3]. Are you also editing with these user names? —Ojorojo (talk) 15:36, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Correction has been made to the Rock and roll article, it's nothing to worry about. And I'm not editing with those usernames. OTim75 (talk) 15:43, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox images

[edit]

Hi there! Regarding your WPWP contributions: please avoid using thumbnails when adding images to infoboxes. For example, in this edit, instead of doing [[file:Kaplica wieś Sprzęcice rn.jpg|thumb|Sprzęcice.]], you would write File:Kaplica wieś Sprzęcice rn.jpg. The image caption would then go in the image_caption field. You can use the "show preview" button to preview your edit and make sure it is formatted correctly before saving. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 07:59, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries

[edit]

A large number of your recent edits have an edit summary like "Added image #wpwp #wpwpkwr", which I can't work out - it's not one of the codes described at WP:ESL. Whilst "Added image" is fine, "#wpwp #wpwpkwr" is so cryptic that it is utterly meaningless, and would probably be better if that part were simply omitted. Are you using some kind of script that auto-generates these summaries? --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 18:48, 1 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

#wpwp #wpwpkwr are the hashtag used in my local wikipedia community to track my contribution in the on going wiki pages wanting photos campaign, not a script. OTim75 (talk) 08:19, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
What is your "local wikipedia community"? You should link these things, particularly the "pages wanting photos campaign" that you refer to. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 09:07, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The hashtags is a requirement for my edit to count. thanks for your understanding. OTim75 (talk) 09:10, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
OTim, whatever your motivation, your resulting editorial work is clearly resulting in quantity over quality. In several instances, I see you have added images of the author in literature-related articles in the infobox. This is not a good choice; an image of the work is preferred. In several other instances, I see you have added an image of the author with a caption implying the person is the work of writing, which is also not a good choice. I also note that your edits rarely included proper formatting of titles like italics or quotations marks. I certainly appreciate your efforts but, please, consider slowing down and being more conscientious about your edits. --Midnightdreary (talk) 18:37, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for calling my attention to all of that. I will be contious of it all, going forward. OTim75 (talk) 19:03, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You say The hashtags is a requirement for my edit to count. thanks for your understanding. - but I don't understand. What is it that you are counting? You have not linked any page relating to what you have been doing. Please also note that the signature goes at the end of your post, not the beginning; also, please use indentation - see WP:TPG. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 19:16, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
RedRose, I believe he is referring to this project. --Midnightdreary (talk) 23:16, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, and this meta:Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos 2021 Contest at Kwara — Preceding unsigned comment added by OTim75 (talkcontribs) 23:36, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
On meta:Wikipedia_Pages_Wanting_Photos_2021, it says that you have to put the hashtags in your edits for them to be counted for the prize, giving the example here etc. I think this is an issue that ought to be taken up at Meta, not with the individual editor... jp×g 00:12, 4 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@JPxG: I did, once a link had actually been provided for me to follow: see meta:Talk:Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos#Cryptic edit summaries. Nobody has responded there yet. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 07:31, 4 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong image

[edit]

In Uganda Railway, which is about a British colonial railway that ceased in 1926, you added a 2006 photo of a modern locomotive. Please be more careful. MB 17:39, 4 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

IND Crosstown Line

[edit]

Hello, it looks like you accidentally added an image of the Harmersbach Valley Railway to the IND Crosstown Line page. I removed this image, and just wanted to let you know in case you had another image you intended to upload instead of that one. Azoubee (talk) 14:48, 5 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

To add on to this, please be more careful when adding images, especially if you're making these additions as part of the Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos contest. Besides the Crosstown Line image, I noticed there's a section on Uganda Railway immediately above where someone else told you to be careful. Here, you added a red linked image in the infobox when you intended to add File:50th Street IRT Broadway 7th Avenue Line 0919.JPG (in fact, the string 50th Street IRT Broadway 7th Avenue Line 0919.JPG appears three times). Please at least use the preview button if you're going to add images at this rate of speed; otherwise, such mistakes are bound to happen. Epicgenius (talk) 15:07, 5 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Alright. I wil be more careful going forward. Thank you. OTim75 (talk) 21:52, 8 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Control copyright icon Hello OTim75! Your additions to Blessed by a Broken Heart have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Walter Görlitz (talk) 05:52, 6 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for calling my attention to this. OTim75 (talk) 21:57, 8 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

WPWP Mall Edits

[edit]

While I commend you for your edits as part of the WPWP project, I don't think just the mall's logo counts as a good image (as you've added to several Westfield-owned malls). Additionally, please note that WPWP requires high quality captions, not just restating the name of the mall. Pokemonprime (talk) 13:39, 15 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, well noted.OTim75 (talk) 21:52, 15 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ayegbaju Market Osogbo requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.osogbo.com/blog/why-you-must-shop-at-the-ayegbaju-international-market-osogbo-25. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
