- The information that does not exist pertains to a fourth of the article (another fourth of which is in-universe plot). If basic info like that is not available, then the question of notability should probably be taken into account. Ωphois 19:49, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Naming conventions
[edit]Many of your recent edits don't appear to conform to Wikipedia:Naming conventions (television). 98.248.33.198 (talk) 00:13, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
- Many 30 Rock episodes are parody titles, which can easily be confused with what they are parodying. Because of this placing (30 Rock) after the titles helps improve clarity. Nyxaus 00:15, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
- "For an article created about a single episode, add the series name in parentheses only if there are other articles by the same name." That obviously isn't the case with the articles you're renaming. 98.248.33.198 (talk) 00:17, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
- Fair enough, many editors working on these episodes prefer to add it, the redirect would have been created anyway. (I do not add the series name for any other series but thanks for the advice) Nyxaus 00:19, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
- I'm going to have to agree with the IP here. Articles like "Greenzo", "Jack-Tor", and "The Rural Juror" probably aren't going to be confused with other articles. Even if they are parody titles, I don't see how someone could accidentally type in the parody when it has different spelling and words inserted. I think it would be better to revert the titles back to what they were before because really there's no reason to add the series in parentheses. File:2.9 Ludachristmas.png listed for deletion
[edit]An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, File:2.9 Ludachristmas.png, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. — pd_THOR | =/\= | 07:44, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
Deletion discussions are almost always ended by an administrator, and rarely by uninvolved editors, but they are never closed by those involved with them unless its a retraction by the nominating editor. I have not, and am not retracting the deletion nomination for the reasons previously specified: (a) WP:NFCC#10a requires listing the artist, publisher and copyright holder, which this media has not. (b) The non-free content policy on screenshots requires critical commentary on the media used, which there is not. Nothing in this article requires the use of somebody else's copyrighted material to understand, nor does the FDP make a sufficient argument for such. I am cross-posting this discussion for openness' purpose ([1]). — pd_THOR | =/\= | 19:30, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

Hydrophilic
[edit]Hello. I came across that very edit while on RC Patrol but wasn't sure enough to immediately revert. I noticed that you did revert with confidence. For me, chemistry was decades ago, but I was wondering... if it is hydrophilic, then the next part of the sentence (insoluble in water) confuses me. Is that correct, or does that need to be edited as well? Thank you. 152.16.16.75 (talk) 11:45, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
- As far as I am aware, cellulose strands are hydrophilic, being able to form hydrogen bonds, however it preferentially forms intermolecular hydrogen bonds with the hydroxyl groups on other cellulose strands instead of water and so is insoluble, and due to the polymeric nature of cellulose means water only surrounds the polymer and cannot penetrate the sheets of cellulose, see File:Cellulose spacefilling model.jpg. I may be wrong and if you think I am, it may be worth raising this point on the talk page. - Nyxaus 12:14, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

- Hi, Nyxaus. Listen, it was nothing "against you", it's just that your upload was "622 × 350" in pixels. According to the Non-free content criteria, the image should be uploaded in a lower resolution, hence why my upload is at "300 × 169" pixels, which abides by the guideline. -- ThinkBlue (Hit BLUE) 03:23, 15 March 2010 (UTC)

- Apologies, no offense intended. If you have created so many articles before then are you not familiar with creating an article in your user space until ready to move to the main space? This would mean your start up article won't get slapped with a tag which, can I remind you, was appropriate in this case, as an Admin did indeed delete the article. I am not an Admin, and did not delete it, just nominated it under Wikipedia's guidelines, I have no way of getting your article back. - ηyχαμς 19:44, 26 May 2010 (UTC)

Conservation of Arctic Fauna & Flora (CAFF)
[edit]Hi Nyxaus For some reason you deleted am page I made - Conservation of Arctic Fauna & Flora (CAFF)
I have no idea why - CAFF is not a company or selling anything it is one of the Working Groups under the Arctic Council
And as such deals with conservation of biodiversity in the Arctic - conducting assessments of status and trends in Arctic biodiversity with all arctic council countries and indigenous organisations
I would appreciate it if you could explain why the short text I put on CAFF was deleted
I work for CAFF - www.caff.is
There is no monetary gain or anything connected with CAFF our mandate from the Arctic council is to assess and monitor arctic biodiversity
One of the more well reports we helped to develop was the Arctic climate impact assessment
Anyway it would be good to hear from you as I have to admit I find it frustrating that my entries are deleted
Take Care

- Hi Tom. I am happy to explain: I flagged your article for speedy deletion under A7 as it was an article about a group/corporation that did not meet the notability guidelines. Another editor decided it was notable, but not as its own article, but as a section/redirect in Arctic Council, and thus DGG redirected it as such. Check the article's history page for editors comments. It also did not meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines for organization and companies; to avoid this in the future I would check the guidelines for the type of article you're creating before publishing the article. If you need anything else, get in touch. - ηyχαμς 19:55, 31 May 2010 (UTC)
Assistance, Please
[edit]Hello. We are attempting to create a Wikipedia page for Galveston.com & Company, the official tourism marketing web presence for Galveston, Texas. We absolutely wish to ensure our page is acceptable to your organization.
Our organization is set up very similarly to NYC & Company (albeit on a much smaller scale), so we relied on that organization's Wikipedia article for guidance.
We'd very much appreciate any assistance/guidance you could give us.
Please note: Regarding the 'notability' issue, if you'll look at both "Galveston" and "Galveston Island" Wikipedia articles, you'll see Galveston.com cited in both as the Official Tourism entity, in partnership with the Convention & Visitors Bureau. Jimcordell (talk) 20:46, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

Response: Improving the Article
[edit]As requested, here are a few tips for getting the article up to scratch, take a look at:
- Wikipedia's notability guidelines
- More specifically the general notability guidelines
- Manual of Style
- Your First Article
A few things to mention from looking at the article straight away is to try to get:
- An infobox filled with relevant information, i.e. Template:Infobox Company or Template:Infobox Non-profit
- Get a wider coverage of the subject area, i.e. in reviews/news/online journals about the company
- Improve your referencing, one reference isn't really enough to satisfy the significant coverage or reliable sections of the general notability guidelines.
- An important point is:
- "Independent of the subject" excludes works produced by those affiliated with the subject including (but not limited to): self-publicity, advertising, self-published material by the subject, autobiographies, press releases, etc.
- You are clearly employed/affiliated by the company in question, this is why the neutrality is debatable, and the only reference you give is from the company's website. Perhaps it would be better written in the future by a third party?
I would defiantly start with the general notability guidelines. You mentioned that your website is referenced on other Wiki articles. This makes those articles notable, not yours. For this article to be notable, it must be fully referenced from a wide variety of secondary and tertiary sources.
I hope this helps, if you require any further assistance please do get in touch or place {{helpme}} followed by your question on your talk page and someone will respond ASAP. Happy writing! - ηyχαμς 20:57, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

- Also, Don't template the regulars, please. SD tags are one thing, but warnings are another. HalfShadow 21:35, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
- It does not matter how long a user has been editing - if the article they create when published meets the guidelines for SD, it gets tagged. If that user removes said tags without following protocol, that user gets warned. Standard guidelines. It seams that they have improved said issues, although External Links do not count as references, and the articles lack complete in-line citations. Improvements still need to be made, although it is not far off a good stub, but needs to be marked as such. - ηyχαμς 21:51, 23 June 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:JWOutletLogo.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:JWOutletLogo.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{Non-free fair use}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. – Train2104 (t • c) 00:09, 18 July 2017 (UTC)
