Spain and ethnic groups.

[edit]

Hello Nutnate, I think you are not understanding the main point here. Spanish is a broader ethnic group, of course not a race like white or black people are, but for country infoboxes, this is often used to distinguish between people who are born outside of that country, in this case we are talking about Spain.

What you have said are not exactly ethnicites, they are subgroups such as catalans, asturians or galicians, yet they all are part of the bigger Spanish ethnicity as they belong to Spanish regions and they don't count differently in Spanish statistics. It's not like Italians in the USA or Germans in Brazil, which are different ethnicities. People born outside of Spain count as different ethnicities (it's obvious as in most cases they come from other continents) check the official INE (Spain) source for reference.

There are other European countries that follow the same pattern, such as Portugal or Netherlands. France did it too but someone changed it to nationality which is obviously not correct as a lot of French nationals have different ethnic groups. I hope you understand now the point of leaving "ethnic group" in Spain as well. Check the examples mentioned above! Pfarla (talk) 14:07, 5 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
