Obscene Profits

[edit]
  • Extraordinary Profits made in (POV) Ordinary, Business
  • Profits made in (POV) Obscene, Business
  • Extraordinary Profits made in (POV) Obscene, Business

If we, as Editors, agree not to debate what is (POV) Ordinary business from (POV) Obscene Buisness, then we have a single category of:

  • Extraordinary Profit made in Business

Extraordinary profit, in an of itself, can be made by a business that has (POV) good business practices, and these extraordinary profits result from a (POV) good idea, good business planning, and timeliness. Google would be an example. To imply that activities result in Obscene Profits seems to imply that the profits were made by business taking advantage of their monopoly at a time when the world and the business' clients were under duress. As an example of this definition, it has been said that Exxon made obscene profits during the 1974 Arab oil embargo by selling US domestic oil at the same price as OPEC embargoed oil. This would change the articles title to:

Obscene Profits Made via World Crisis

If the article starts off with the title Obscene Profits and immediately limits the subject matter to Obscene Business Profits Made via World Crisis, how does one stop the WP editorial evolution of this article into a list of porn sites or a debate over what is obscene? - Doug Youvan (talk) 13:51, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
