Orphaned fair use image (Image:LoGSacrament.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:LoGSacrament.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. With the addition of a castlist and the proud editors/conversionsists, I do think that the Wiki Wars page is complete!

- Thanks for compiling the cast/editors. As for what to do next, we need to get it out to a wider audience. Gwern suggested BJAODN as a start. Nufy8 17:49, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

POV... or escriptions?
Just like to know why you think that adding more descriptions of Pantera's albums is POV. Examples: why'd you delete info about Dimebag's guitar sound, why'd you delete how the albums compare, why'd you delete info about the songs...?
- A statement like this and this claiming that an album is the band's "harshest" or most "brutal" is a subjective statement of opinion; if there are reputable sources that agree with this statement, then it's possible to incorporate it into the article in a more appropriate manner. - Asserting that Dumb and Dumber is similar to Pulp Fiction is a rather farfetched claim. Such claims are subject to removal unless a reliable source is provided to back it up. This is why I reverted your edits, and will do so again until this information can be verified by a reliable source. Nufy8 00:46, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

Vandal reversions
Thanks for reverting the anonymous vandalism on my talk page. It's futile in this case, however. This is a serial vandal on AOL, who vandalizes userpages and user talk pages of anyone who warns him. It turns out that AOL is a perfect ISP from which to vandalize anonymously. Every time an AOL user accesses Wikipedia, AOL assigns a different IP address! So an AOL user can make 20 vandal edits from a dozen different IP addresses. Very frustrating. My userpage is now semi-protected, but it looks like the talk page will have to be also. -Amatulic 16:52, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

My UC Irvine Edit
Hey Nufy8, keep up the good work in making sure that Wiki articles are accurate. However, I do have a complaint, if my paragraph wasn't neutral, the paragraph before mine is not neutral as well. That paragraph gives arguments for not having a football team. I checked the cite for the paragraph before mine and it does not seem to back up his assertions. what if I begin my paragraph with "Critics contend that"? Why allow a paragraph in support of not having a football team and not allow one that is in support of having a football team. By censoring my paragraphs and not the paragraph before, I believe that Wikipedia is engaging in viewpoint discrimination. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.91.228.17 (talk) 02:20, 14 May 2007 (UTC).
- If you can supply references that support the claim that critics contend UCI's lack of a football program is diminishing it in some way, then go ahead. Note that the current paragraph about a football program does not advocate a position, but merely explains why UCI does not wish to create a football program. Also, this is referenced; it might be more accurate to link to the PDFs that discuss it, however. Nufy8 03:04, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
- Note: the current paragraph about the football program does advocate a position. But your the mediator not me. It gives the viewpoint of the university. Since it gives the viewpoint of the university, which is not neutral (by the way), it is unfair to censor the opposing viewpoint. viewpoint neutrality is in your guidelines. If you remove my edit, I say you should remove the paragraph from before. You never said earlier that my article was removed for the lack of cites, you removed my article for neutrality purposes. If this is the case, you did not maintain neutrality —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.91.228.17 (talk) 04:50, 14 May 2007 (UTC).
- The opposing viewpoint is not being censored; as I previously stated, editors are encouraged to mention opposition provided they can back it up with credible sources. There's also an important distinction to be made that I think you're missing. Having the article state "The lack of a football program is a bad thing" is POV, no matter how supported it is by sources, because it makes the article itself conform to a certain point of view; this is why I identified your edits as POV in my edit summary. Having the article state "Critics contend that the lack of a football program is a bad thing," as you had suggested, is not as blatantly POV because it introduces attribution, and therefore does not make the article conform to the viewpoint being expressed. The problem is that this attribution is not referenced, and as such, cannot be accepted. Verifiability is absolutely essential in introducing any viewpoint. Nufy8 05:12, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
- OK, thanks, Ill do some research.....FYI I am a UCI Alum, and am pretty bitter about no football team, as you can probably tell. I wen to grad school and watched a lot of games with USC, UCLA, CAL, Maryland, Ohio St. people and basically felt left out. hahaha. But i will get on some cites. Non-free use disputed for Image:Dystopia2.jpg
This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Dystopia2.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 03:15, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
Image:Drykilllogicband.JPG
Thanks for uploading Image:Drykilllogicband.JPG. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Leon Sword 23:26, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
Unspecified source for Image:Dsparil1.JPG
Thanks for uploading Image:Dsparil1.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:35, 2 July 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 16:35, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

Need help to avoid deletion
Hey there, I'm trying to comply to your requests concerning the EgoZ band article so that it doesn't get deleted. I've added a list of media stations with which the band has dealt in Egypt, although only Orascom TV seems to have an entry of its own on Wikipedia. I'm trying to add references for the magazine interviews, but I can't seem to find them online. Is there any way I can cite the magazines and radio station on the EgoZ page? As far as popularity is concerned there is a good number of references to the band on fans' personal pages but I'm afraid many of them are either from Myspace or hi5. Is there anything I can do with those? EgoZ also has a fan club group on Facebook, with a member total of just over 700 last time I checked it - can that be considered a claim to being well-known in Egypt? I'd greatly appreciate any help you could give me on the subject.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Swimforestswim (talk • contribs) 05:38, 31 July 2007 (UTC).
- Thanks for responding, I'm tryin to find ways to verify the interview(s) now. You're right in that being difficult, the Orascom site is a nightmare to navigate through. But the interview was first aired on Saturday the 21st of July this year at 7:00 pm Cairo time, the show which aired it was named Shaghal, and yes the interview itself was between 25-35 minutes long; I'm still stumped as to how this can be proven however, let's just say the Egyptian media is sort of slack on records.
- As to the template, thank you for informing me that I'm allowed to remove it from the article page. I'll probably do that now, if only because it's simply not pleasant to be the first thing seen when someone goes on that page. And I accept the decision to begin the discussion as a result of this removal; actually I'm hopeful about it, maybe somebody will know a way to verify the interviews that I don't, or even better maybe one of the editors will be Egyptian. Would it be possible for me to be kept informed of the developments in that discussion, or maybe even participate in it?—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Swimforestswim (talk • contribs) 07:34, 1 August 2007 (UTC).
- Hi it's about the Egoz band again. The band just made an appearance on the Dream One channel yesterday, it's a middle eastern satellite station, although our appearance accounts for only a little over 10 minutes of the show. There's also supposed to be another appearance on Nile TV but we're still waiting for a confirmation on when it'll be aired. Will this help with the deletion issue? I'm afraid proof of these will still be hard to find, although Nile TV does have an entry on Wikipedia. Thanks for the help about citing, I think I may have to take you up on that since I cited the two interviews that already happened on the page but I get the feeling I'm doing something wrong. If there's a page or anything that can walk me through the process, or if what I did up till now's fine, if you could let me know I'd appreciate it—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Swimforestswim (talk • contribs) 05:29, 9 August 2007 (UTC).

Hi, I noticed you had provided some input on this article. As I noted on the article's talk page, I can't see how to reconcile WP:NPOV and WP:V issues.
