A tag has been placed on Christopher Fernando requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Jafeluv (talk) 20:43, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. obi2canibetalk contr 17:16, 31 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia

[edit]

Information icon Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit you made to Ice Wireless, did not appear constructive and has been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use the sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Thank you.

Information icon Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Ice Wireless. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you.

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. While we appreciate that you enjoy using Wikipedia, please note that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not a place for blogging or promotion. So please do not try to use Wikipedia to promote yourself or your family, band, product, or company. The subjects of our articles have to meet certain notability requirements and be written from a neutral point of view. Off-topic material may be deleted at any time, even if it's on your user page. We're sorry if this message has discouraged you from editing here, but the ultimate goal of this website is to build an encyclopedia. Thank you.

Please do not use Wikipedia to promote businesses. Wikipedia is not a trade directory. If you want to list a company for potential customers to find, please consider alternative outlets. Thank you.

Information icon Please do not add or change content without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you.

As you can see, there are multiple issues with your edit to Ice Wireless, which is why it has been rejected.

In your comments regarding link to Cameron Zubko, Cameron Zubko is an officer of the company and therefore has relevance to the article [1]. "Priyanke (Anthonus) de Silva" does not appear to be an officer of the company. There is no authoritative citation that "Priyanke (Anthonus) de Silva" has any connection to Ice Wireless

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continual disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you.

Ice wireless - unconstructive comments

[edit]

I've moved the following from my talk page to yours as I am not Senator88.

Hello Senator88,

I appreciate what you are doing, but can you elaborate on what is 'unconstructive' about my 'Ice wireless' post.

I am not associated with Ice wireless, are you?

I am stating history.

If my post is not valid then the entire Ice wireless article and ALSO the 'Cameron Zubko' page too must be deleted. In that sense I do not believe any of these two pages have any SIGNIFICANT contribution, do you?

Or as most, including I believe - is the wikipedia a 'white supremist' site?

Thank you.

Regards,

Not Simple Minded (at all).

There are some problems with your comments. "I am not associated with Ice wireless, are you?" is bizarre when you think about it. If Senator88 was associated with Ice then why would they remove material?

"If my post is not valid then the entire Ice wireless article and ALSO the 'Cameron Zubko' page too must be deleted. In that sense I do not believe any of these two pages have any SIGNIFICANT contribution, do you?" The removal of any particular section does not invalidate the entire article.

"Or as most, including I believe - is the wikipedia a 'white supremist' site?" I take if you mean "white supremacist"? Also who is implied as most. Is that the entire population of the world or just that most people in a section of the world think that? Either way some source for the asinine comment would be needed. If you have one it would be significant in the Wikipedia article. Making unsourced claims like that tends to ensure that people don't take your comments seriously.

Senator88 the section Notsimpleminded added is not particularly promotional. Indeed it is probably less so than the rest of that article. Even though the person no longer works for Ice Wireless it still form part of the companies history and looks OK. And was sourced. It should have been taken to the article talk page. Hello Notsimpleminded,

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add soapboxing, promotional or advertising material to Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing.

It appears you are a consultant who wants to promote yourself, using this article as your soapbox. Wikipedia is not for advertising or promotion of your business. Please stop making disruptive edits on this article that are irrelevant to the company's history and are only intended to promote yourself, without contributing to the article. You have also not provided any reliable sources or citations for your edits. If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing.

I struck out the one sentence about the COI as it turns out Senator88 does or did work for Ice Wireless. The warning above this comment is based on my edit to the page. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 22:48, 1 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Yes, I believe that Senator88 is 'monitoring' the Ice Wireless pages on behalf of Ice wireless. It looks more and more like 'gatekeeping' to me. The events I have mentioned happend a long time ago - it has no commercial value. It is just for historical purposes. --Notsimpleminded (talk) 23:06, 1 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to respond. Yes I am connected to Ice Wireless. I have established this account to help improve Ice Wireless-related articles in line with Wikipedia standards and guidelines, and to ensure the article is fully sourced. In the interest of full transparency, I wish my affiliation with Ice Wireless is abundantly clear to all parties I may interact with on Wikipedia. I will be the only person to use this account. In order to comply with Wiki guidelines on COI, I have created a user page for Senator88 which describes my connection to Ice Wireless. I will also refrain from making direct edits to Ice Wireless and will make my suggestions on the Talk page. My user page can be found here: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User:Senator88.

In determination of whether or not to let Notsimpleminded's edit stand, I would like to point out that there is no source that connects Notsimpleminded's claims of employment to Ice Wireless. If there is no such citation, you must agree that the edit must be rejected as unsourced. I'm not sure how you could let a claim like this stand unsourced. There is no evidence that Notsimpleminded ever worked for this company.

Second issue, even if some connection is made, thousands of consultants and employees have worked for Bell, Telus, Rogers etc. Should they all add paragraphs to the Wiki entries to highlight themselves? Clearly this consultant is trying to use the page to advertise himself.

"WP:REL Relevance: On Wikipedia, relevance is a consideration whether a fact or detail in an article is useful to the reader or is out of scope of the article. If a fact is not relevant to the topic of the article, it should not be mentioned in that article. This does not mean it can not be mentioned in some other article. Mentioning things that are irrelevant to an article's topic can unnecessarily bloat an article, making it difficult for a reader to remain focused, and can also give the things mentioned undue weight."
