CSGO

Hello, I see you undid my revision to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. We don't need to link the word "multiplayer" or include "online" in the first sentence, it's unnecessary. Also, the abbreviated part of the sentence is usually written as "abbreviated as". I don't wish to come across like I own the article, but I've been trying to work on this article for months now and for it just to be edited out of the blue and changing content that's been there for a while is sort of annoying. If you disagree with the content please start a talk page discussion. Cheers, Anarchyte (work | talk) 00:19, 8 May 2017 (UTC)

We don't need to link the word "multiplayer" or include "online" in the first sentence, it's unnecessary. Can you please explain why linking to Multiplayer video game, Online game, and Video game is unnecessary?
PapíDimmi (talk | contribs) 00:57, 8 May 2017 (UTC)
See WP:OLINK. Anarchyte (work | talk) 01:08, 8 May 2017 (UTC)
@Anarchyte: Okay, I understand why “video game” should not be linked, but why should “online” not be included in the first sentence? CS:GO is an online game, is it not?
PapíDimmi (talk | contribs) 02:54, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
It's unnecessary. It says "multiplayer first-person shooter video game" in the lead, and let's be frank, there aren't that many games of those genre's that aren't online. It's very rare to see "online" written in the lead. Here are a few multiplayer FPS games that don't have it, and I honestly could not find any that do include it. 1, 2, 3, 4. The game can be played as single-player without an internet connection, so to say that it's online would also be missleading. Hopes that clears it up. C&H

I think you're wrong here, because "Cyanide & Happiness" and "Cyanide and Happiness" are not two separate things both called "C&H". . MOS should be followed. I don't understand why you argue these points so stringently after so many discussions. I don't care to revert though and am moving on. Please, just follow the MOS and stop arguing every time someone points out policy or guidelines to you. -- ferret (talk) 11:23, 9 May 2017 (UTC):I

@Ferret: I have never argued anything like this before.
Cyanide & Happiness and Cyanide and Happiness are the same thing. There used to be an ampersand in the name, but now there’s “and,” yet the title of Explosm’s official website still says “Cyanide & Happiness,” so apparently, they haven’t decided which one to use.
Since Cyanide & Happiness and Cyanide and Happiness are one and the same, both are, naturally, abbreviated to C&H. By including the alternate name, “Cyanide and Happinessafter the abbreviation, it seems like only one of the names can be abbreviated, which isn’t true.

@PapiDimmi and Ferret: (talk page stalker) Just chiming in here, but I can't find any official pages that use "And". It's all "Cyanide & Happiness" or "C&H". I think the opening lead sentence is a bit clunky at the moment, and honestly I think the whole mention of "Cyanide and Happiness" can go, leaving it as Cyanide & Happiness (C&H) is.... It's such a minor issue and everyone knows that & = and anyway. Anarchyte (work | talk) 11:42, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
Here’s a source (and official page) for you: the second latest Cyanide & Happiness comic. The latest comics use “Cyanide and Happiness.”
PapíDimmi (talk | contribs) 11:45, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
When I say you argue every time, what I mean is your absolute refusal to follow WP:BRD. You made a change to Cyanide & Happiness, and I (partially) reverted it, with MOS guidelines as a reason. That's where you stop and discuss, but you continuously, on multiple articles, just keep reverting back to what you want. If you don't stop pressing the revert button over and over you're going to end up seeing a block. -- ferret (talk) 11:47, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
I always explain my revisions, as I did in the edit summaries on Cyanide & Happiness.
I’m discussing this right now, aren’t I? So, what’s your opinion? Clearly, both “Cyanide & Happiness” and “Cyanide and Happiness” are official names, and the abbreviation “C&H” works for both, so what is your opinion?
PapíDimmi (talk | contribs) 11:49, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
Explaining your reverts doesn't mean you can keep reverting. That's not what WP:BRD means. My position is clear, follow MOS: Title (ABBR), also known as Alias. -- ferret (talk) 11:52, 9 May 2017 (UTC)

And I am discussing this right now, like I said.

So, in your opinion, the lead sentence should be like this:
Cyanide & Happiness, or Cyanide and Happiness (C&H), is a… (or similar)?

If it is, I don’t really agree, since this makes it seem like “C&H” is merely an abbreviation of “Cyanide and Happiness,” not “Cyanide & Happiness,” which it is not. I think that this could be a good exception to WP:BOLDSYN. I’d like to further discuss this, however.
PapíDimmi (talk | contribs) 11:57, 9 May 2017 (UTC)

I thought I was pretty clear, both in my partial revert and here, but since not: Cyanide & Happiness (C&H), also known as Cyanide and Happiness -- ferret (talk) 12:05, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
Which brings back my point: this makes it seem like only “Cyanide & Happiness” is abbreviated to “C&H,” not “Cyanide and Happiness.” That’s just what I think, however.
PapíDimmi (talk | contribs) 12:07, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
I really doubt anyone is confused on that. The topic is Cyanide & Happiness. The topic is abbreviated as C&H. The topic is also known as Cyanide and Happiness. We are talking about the topic, the alternate names are not independent from it, its clear C&H refers to the topic. -- ferret (talk) 12:10, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
All right, then. I’ve made the aforementioned edit to Cyanide & Happiness. PapíDimmi (talk | contribs) 12:12, 9 May 2017 (UTC)

Cake day redirects

From my quick research it doesn't seem that cake day is unique to reddit (instead a few refer to a person's birthday as cake day). Also it seems unlikely that the casual browser would not likely use it. I wanted to ask here before putting this on RfD because there might be something that I missed. Sakuura Cartelet Talk 00:23, 12 May 2017 (UTC)

The term “cake day” or “cakeday” doesn’t seem to exist outside Reddit. Papí talk 00:25, 12 May 2017 (UTC)
It does on Imgur, not sure I can provide a reference for that easily however — IVORK Discuss 00:37, 12 May 2017 (UTC)
That article doesn’t mention “cake day” whatsoever. Papí talk 02:17, 12 May 2017 (UTC)
I'm not saying it did, just that the term is not exclusive to Reddit and thus shouldn't really be a redirect for it.
Now that I have more time, reference is here. Not too sure that's worthy enough for inclusion in Imgurs article however. I have proposed RfD for each here, here and here.IVORK Discuss 15:35, 12 May 2017 (UTC)
