Information icon Hi Noodels102! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at American Family Association that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. I have undone the edit because it introduced a point of view into the short description... which should not be taken as me disagreeing with said point of view. Hi Nat!
Let me preface this by saying that I appreciate you reaching out to me. I respect your decision to revert the edit, but I want to explain why I made the change in the first place:
First off: I don't know why my edit was marked as minor. I made the edit from the mobile app, maybe I accidentally hit the "minor edit" switch? Either way, marking it as a minor edit wasn't on purpose, sorry about that.
Second: The reason I changed the short description of the article on the American Family Association is because the SPLC declared the AFA a hate group, which is mentioned in the article's introduction, as well as the "Controversies" section. This status also becomes evident when looking at the AFA's actions, views, and the statements made by its members (which is a view that, based on the last sentence of your message, I assume you may share).
Third: Similar articles on other SPLC-designated hate groups also include their designation in their short description, namely the article on the Westboro Baptist Church and the one on the Goyim Defense League. Because of this, I changed the description.
In any case, thanks again for reaching out to me and letting me know about the incorrect "minor edit" tag. I'll take extra care to ensure any non-minor edits I make in the future won't be incorrectly tagged. Noodels102 (talk) 04:35, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
