Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, and Welcome to the Wikipedia, Office of independent counsel! Thanks for the contributions over on the NSA warrantless surveillance controversy‎ article. Here are a few perfunctory tips to hasten your acculturation into the Wikipedia experience:

And some odds and ends: Cite your sources, Civility, Conflict resolution, How to edit a page, How to write a great article, Pages needing attention, Peer review, Policy Library, Verifiability, Village pump, and Wikiquette; also, you can sign your name on any page by typing four tildes: ~~~~. Best of luck, Office of independent counsel, and most importantly, have fun! Ombudsman 20:26, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the welcome. I've been at this for awhile now, but I'll take another look at all of those Wikipedia policies and resources that you mentioned. Office of independent counsel 23:53, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I liked your response. You can request a new username if you wish to keep this one's edit history, or you can just create a new login if you like. Either way, your attitude augurs well for your future contributions and you are most welcome. --Dweller 13:43, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have submitted a report on WP:RFCN because I think your username violates our username policy. -- Y not? 05:11, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Name change

[edit]

Hiya, I didn't know if you'd check the RFCN page again, so I thought I'd include my last reply here for your information: If you'd like to transfer your edit summary to the new name, please submit the request to the page to change usernames, and that can easily be done, although it may take a day or so. Cheers! ArielGold 21:09, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your Username

[edit]

I noticed that you have not requested a rename. You agreed to change your name at the RFCN about it. I wondered whether or not you have just not gotten around to it, or were having trouble with it. Do you need assistance? i said 04:12, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just haven't gotten around to it. I looked at the name change page that ArielGold provided a link to, and it looks pretty straightforward. Don't anticipate I'll need any help, but I'll be sure to ask if I do. Thanks. Office of independent counsel 13:38, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Love the new name. Enjoy! Flyguy649 talk contribs 15:17, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Flyguy649. Maybe I purposefully overcompensated to avoid any appearance of "officialdom" - with an attempt at a wry ironic twist thrown in for good measure - but it's nice to get some positive feedback on the new username. Best wishes. No barometer of intelligence 18:00, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I like it too ^^ i said 23:00, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think that ref is relevant (it's nothing to do with DSNs or MDNs), so I reverted your edit ... richi 00:35, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked 3 months

[edit]

You have been blocked for 3 months for checkuser-confirmed long term socking and vote stacking. Next time it will be an indefinite block. RlevseTalk 19:05, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WT:GAR query

[edit]

In answer to your question at WT:GAR, Wikipedia makes great efforts to protect the privacy and anonymity of editors, and tolerates the use of multiple accounts for that purpose. However, if that tolerance is abused by WP:SOCK violations such as vote stacking, then it evaporates rather quickly. You made a mistake. Now you have some time to reflect and read up on how to avoid breaching Wikipedia policies in the future. Geometry guy 20:30, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello No barometer of intelligence! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 13 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Julie Bosman - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Thanks!--DASHBot (talk) 19:06, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Julie Bosman requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Horologium (talk) 21:56, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you recently edited Stuxnet, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Michael Hayden (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Edits on Drake article

[edit]

Hello, I noticed your edits on the Thomas Drake article, seen here [1] I am wondering if you may have a Conflict of Interest in this and other matters related to the Intelligence Community. Please take a look at the above guidelines and insure you are following them. If you do work with the IC, thank you for your service, and let me know if you are recruiting. :p R/S, Sephiroth storm (talk) 18:00, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your concern about maintaining Wikipedia's standards about the integrity of editors not violating essential policies like potential Conflict of Interests. But I have no connection with the "intelligence community", either currently or any time in the past. The closest I ever came to working for government at any level was a job at a PBS-affiliated television station whose broadcast license was owned by the board of regents of a state university, which technically made me a state employee. Few opportunities for espionage or other covert activities working with Big Bird and Barney the dinosaur. Good luck with your job search if you are looking for an intel-related government job. I admire public servants. - No barometer of intelligence (talk) 21:54, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
