Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Sentence case in section headers

[edit]

Just a heads up, you recently made this edit [1] capitalizing something in a section header. Per MOS:SECTION, section headers should be in sentence case. -- Patar knight - chat/contributions 16:06, 24 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. Your recent edit to Ambrose Alli University appears to have added a non-notable entity to a list that normally includes only notable entries. In general, a person, organization or product added to a list should have a pre-existing article before being added to most lists. If you wish to create such an article, please first confirm that the subject qualifies for a separate, stand-alone article according to Wikipedia's notability guideline. Thank you. - Arjayay (talk) 20:01, 24 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, thank you very much for making me know this. I'm learning more about it. Nnamdi Kinghenry (talk) 06:41, 25 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You might want to slow down

[edit]

I'm sorry you're experiencing so much criticism of both yourself and your fellow editors, but it might be best to slow down and take things a bit more carefully. It takes a bit of time to figure out the nuances of the manual of style and how long-term Wikipedia editors expect articles to be written. Another problem you might encounter is that some people will likely perceive some of these edits as change for the sake of change. People are often a bit resistant to this. You have been blocked indefinitely from editing certain namespaces ((Article)) for abuse of editing privileges.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  asilvering (talk) 16:49, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Asilvering
I humbly appeal the block on my account @Nnamdi Kinghenry from editing namespaces((Artilce)) for abuse of editing privileges.
First and foremost, I sincerely appreciate your goodwill and unbiased efforts in ensuring Wikipedia's editing standards and guidelines are strictly adhered to; Thank you so much.
Without trying to justify myself, i acknowledge and have now seen that at some point, some of the edits i made previously slightly went against the Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources, I assure you it was not a deliberate action. All I did was making researches/ getting information from reliable sources (external links, website, books etc) with the the aim of contributing to the Wikipedia community by updating its articles with up to date and reliable information. Though I made a few mistakes, you can still find in my edits/ contributions a good number of outstanding edits I have made previously, especially these past few days; this goes a long way in proving that my edits and that of my fellow team mates(editors) who i am currently working with on an "Edit-a-thon" project are all of goodwill.
I am{we) continuously learning and understanding the Wikipedia:Manual of Style and other Wikipedia's editing guidelines. I assure you that subsequently, I (we) will do better.
I humbly plead you see reasons with and go on to unblock my account to enable me go on with my edits(promising to be more careful this time).
Once more, thank you so much. Nnamdi Kinghenry (talk) 19:28, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Nnamdi Kinghenry, you can make a formal unblock request using the template in the block notice above, but I wouldn't suggest doing that just yet, as I think you'll be likely to get trapped in a cycle of declined unblocks that make it harder and harder to regain editing privileges. Instead, please work with the other editors in this editathon to address the concerns brought up at WP:ANI#New seemingly-related group of good-faith but deleterious West African copyeditors. Since you're only blocked from mainspace, you can still edit article talk pages and participate in that ANI thread. If the editors involved in cleaning up the mistakes being added by editathon participants are satisfied, I will happily lift the block myself. -- asilvering (talk) 19:45, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
