Re adoption

[edit]

Hi Nlewendon.

Welcome to wikipedia.

I am probably not reliable enough in my wikitime to adopt you, but please feel free to ask me a question at any time and I will try to get back to you as soon as I can.

You do not look as though you started to edit wikipedia only yesterday, even apart from the few edits from 2015 ?

Regards. Aoziwe (talk) 00:53, 15 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi!

Thanks for your message Aoziwe!

Is this how I reply to messages on my Talk page?

Thanks!

Nlewendon (talk) 08:37, 16 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Pretty much. The only other thing you would do is indent your reply using a ':' at the start of each line. You use a ':' for each level of reply; each ':' indenting one more level. By indenting replies other people can reply to different levels accordingly too. Aoziwe (talk) 11:15, 16 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, thanks for getting back to me so quickly, Aoziwe - I think I'm getting the hang of this bit at least... Nlewendon (talk) 08:37, 16 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I might not always get back to you as quickly. I iwll have less wikitime over the next few days. Of interest this time is the date time stamp on your reply above. It is the same as for your earlier reply. Did you use '~~~~' at the end of your reply? It looks like not so, especially give that your talk page history shows it is later. It looks like you copied and pasted something instead . . ? Aoziwe (talk) 14:32, 16 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You're right - I did copy and paste. I know better now! thanks! Nlewendon (talk) 08:07, 17 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Nlewendon.

I see you have removed your adoption request. Did you have any Luck ? No matter if you did not.

I found one of the best ways to learn is to just watch what other people do and how thay do it and see how further people react to them. Also if you want to avoid troublesome people, just have a look at WP:ANI - if you have time to read any of it through! - for some of the goings on to avoid. Aoziwe (talk) 12:00, 23 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Good morning Aoziwe!
You're right - I made that edit last week. I figured that I'd just watch and learn, like you suggest. That noticeboard makes interesting reading! I love internet drama. I used to be an avid lurker on WP:RD too - some absolute lunatics there.
Have a great September, and I hope you don't mind if I get in touch again if I have questions in future! Nlewendon (talk) 08:52, 29 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Yes, please feel free to ask questions. I will try to give you a helpful answer. I will however be on a wikibreak from next week for about 3 to 4 weeks though. Aoziwe (talk) 11:52, 29 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Nlewendon.

Just wondering how you going - you seem to have gone very quite. Regards. Aoziwe (talk) 10:39, 10 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Nlewendon. Welcome back. Aoziwe (talk) 10:15, 10 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Aoziwe! Thanks so much. How are you going? I haven't managed to keep up any sort of regular Wikipedia editing practice, but I do a bit here and there, where I can - usually when I see things that need re-writing for grammar or readability, or just a bit of reformatting.
Maybe one day I'll get to take the lead on a topic or page, but I'm happy to help where I can tidying up for now!
What sorts of things do you focus on when you edit? Nlewendon (talk) 11:12, 12 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Not set pattern I think. I do rather like rescuing WP:ORPHAN articles, and I do spend a bit a little time at WP:AFD. I write the occasional article, and I occasionally improve the odd article. I will keep on eye on whatever is in my watchlist for vandalism. Aoziwe (talk) 12:18, 12 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting! It's useful, I think, to set a target and try to edit, you know, x amount of articles a month. Maybe I could try to rescue one a week and see how I go. That will keep me editing regularly rather than in fits and starts. Thanks for the recommendations! Hope you're very well. Nlewendon (talk) 12:01, 13 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
In case you have not already found it, you could also have a look through Wikipedia:WikiProject Bristol and more generally Wikipedia:WikiProject United Kingdom? If you feel like something "close to home"? Aoziwe (talk) 12:52, 13 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
