Little context in Men's movement in India

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Men's movement in India, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Men's movement in India is very short providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Men's movement in India, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. DYK script

Following your suggestion to do so on WT:DYK, I've added the DYK from you monobook to mine. I can't figure out how to use this script though, could you just give me a brief explanation? Cutting down the time it takes me to do the DYK notifications would be really helpful. Thanks,--Carabinieri (talk) 15:40, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There aren't any additional tabs showing up when I edit user or article talk pages. Did I make a mistake while adding the scripts to my monobook? I don't understand why this isn't working.--Carabinieri (talk) 20:03, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the reply. I would like to nominate the article John Bardeen for 'good article' status. I have a great respect for John Bardeen and his father Charles Bardeen. In fact, I created the biography of Charles Bardeen. Regards, Masterpiece2000 (talk) 02:36, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thats okay, that sounds fine with me. I just moved the page to List of Houston Texans draft selections because there really isnt a need to have the (NFL) in the title.

Thank you for your support in my RfA. It was quite a ride! And a very close call, but I'm very happy that the third time turned out to be the charm.  :) Now, especially since it was such a controversial nom, I'm going to take things very slowly. Plus of course it's the holiday season, so there are plenty of off-wiki distractions! I'm working my way through the exercises at the "admin school", and will phase very gradually into my use of tools. If I do have any questions, I won't hesitate to contact you for your advice and counsel. Thanks again, Elonka 09:21, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

John Bardeen

Hello Nishkid64! I am really happy to know that you know about John Bardeen. To understand the importance of Bardeen, we just need to look at the World around us. Without him there would be no computers. Well, actually, the World will be very different. It would be no exaggeration to say that Bardeen was one of the most important people who ever walked on this planet. However, he never got the public recognitions he deserves. Very little is known about the true nature of John Bardeen. It is difficulty to gather enough information about him. I know about the book you mentioned in my talk page. The book True Genius: The Life and Science of John Bardeen doesn't offer much insight. Even the writers of the book acknowledge that the book merely scratches the surface of its subject. I will try to gather as much information as possible. This is December. So I have time. I will send emails to some faculty members at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and ask about Bardeen. And, I hope you will also help me. Regards, Masterpiece2000 (talk) 09:40, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, Nishkid, one of the complex aspect of the biography of John Bardeen is show the complex relationship between John Bardeen and William Shockley. Regards, Masterpiece2000 (talk) 10:14, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Criss Angel

Hello, Criss Angel's camp asked me to contact you to see if it's possible for us to edit a few things on Criss' page on here. For one, Criss' father IS Greek, he is not from Iran or Pakistan like the page says. Criss isn't from New Jersey and has never lived there, he also doesn't play the accordian or flute, only drums.

If you need verification that this is from APWI, feel free to email stefanie@crissangel.com

Thank you!

Hi, I am very disappointed both that the article was promoted and that you didn't withdraw the article even after I provided more than a dozen references yesterday. This morning, I made a list of 30 references, which I was about to add to the Slotin Talk page, when I noticed it had been promoted. Anyway, if your conscience feels comfortable putting a star on the article, that is your prerogative, but here is the list of references. Regards, Fowler&fowler«Talk» 19:55, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hm Fowler, I'm surprised then that you are Ok with claiming credit for Indian Standard Time when I checked I saw you added about two sentences and that article is very short. As for India, that article is POV (as are some other Pakistan and Bangladesh imho which seem a bit too glossy) and highly unreferenced for most of the first half of this year and you were willing to claim that as well (per your userpage). Blnguyen (bananabucket) 23:56, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Having said that, I agree that many FAs are not as detailed or long as they could be. Some even include original research....Blnguyen (bananabucket) 00:00, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Very amusing. Apparently more than one person thought I was talking about the Nishkid64's userpage, even though my post above said "a star on the article." As I said in reply to his post on my page, I was talking about the star on the Louis Slotin article. I don't look at userpages, and don't propose to look now. As for B. L. Nguyen's painstaking research on my userpage(!), I happened upon Indian Standard Time a month after I joined Wikipedia in October 2006, when I didn't know anything about FAs. I noticed that the history section had some inaccuracies. I then made these posts on the article talk page (notice the polite tone of a newbie). I then rewrote the ancient history section. It changed from this version (first paragraph history section) to this version (first five paragraphs history section, counting the quotes). It was a little more than two sentences, to be sure, but it wasn't the length I was thrilled about; it was more that I learned something. In the ancient Indian method of measuring time, one breath (inhale and exhale) was the minimum unit of time, and when I made the computation, in terms of how many "breaths" were there in one day, I realized that a "breath" = 4 seconds, which seemed too long to me. But I then found a paper in a medical journal, where they had determined the average number of breaths in one minute to be 15! The only reason why I have that listed on my userpage, is so that I don't forget about that fact. I have never read the rest of the article. As for India, I have written only the lead (in collaboration with Nichalp), the geography section, and the flora and fauna (in collaboration with Saravask), and the latter two are adequately referenced. Not sure what point you are making B. L. Nguyen, but thanks again for your post. It made me go back and read my post on the Indian Standard Time talk page as well as the ancient history section of the page, which I hadn't read in almost a year, and which was a lot of fun reading. Regards, Fowler&fowler«Talk» 02:34, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I wasn't referring to the star on the userpage. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 02:42, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
B. L. Nguyen: Didn't see this or the latter part of your previous post. You say, "As for India ..." in your first post. Where did I say anything about "India" in my original post that required you to respond with "As for India?" Also, where did you see me claiming on my userpage that I wrote anything in the India article other than the lead, the geography section, and the flora and fauna? Next, where did you see me claiming any credit for the Pakistan or Bangladesh articles? To my knowledge, I have never made any edits in either article. Lastly, since you brought it up, what is POV about the India article? Please be specific if you are making that claim. Best regards, Fowler&fowler«Talk» 22:08, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't participated much in the FA process thus far, but I don't see why there is any contradiction between deciding that an article has reached featured quality, and nonetheless continuing to improve it by adding additional content and references. Even FA's are not finished products, and it not as if this article is due to be mainpaged tomorrow. I'm sure that Nishkid64 and the other editors here will continue working on adding to the article even if it already has "the star" on it. Newyorkbrad (talk) 20:08, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nishkid, I wanted to say I agree with Raul's promotion, and congratulations. I hope some of the references will prove fruitful for additions. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 20:29, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sir, This article needs a lock for some time. A new user called "Knataka" is deleting large amounts of cited info, more out of inexperience than bad faith. A new flavor of SALT

Hello, I'm dropping you a note because you are listed on Wikipedia:Protected titles/Specific Admin as an admin that is maintaining a personal SALT page. Recent software updates now allow deleted pages to be protected just like other pages. Please consider migrating any pages on your personal list to normal protections, and clearing them off of your list. There still may be situations where a personal list may be the best way to handle a page though. Thank you, — xaosflux Talk 02:50, 28 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting unprotection of E. V. Ramasami Naicker

Hi there. You fully protected this article back on July 3 in order to stop the edit war that was ongoing there, and the participants were instructed to resolve their differences on the Talk page. Six months later, there has been little discussion on the Talk page, most of it argument, and there is no sign of any effort to reach consensus. However, I believe the protection has lasted long enough, and the article will not be improved unless it ends; the participants in the original edit war are probably no longer interested, but any future edit-warring can be dealt with as necessary. If you agree, please unprotect the page. Thanks in advance. Terraxos (talk) 03:05, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Happy New Year

Thanks for visiting my talk page. Thanks also for noting my article William W. Bedsworth. Our Philippine rules of court were borrowed from California. And one of the most powerful and known justices there is Justice Beds, fondly called. It is sad that if you read the CA Court of Appeals, I, a Filipino, was the first to create an article on the jurists. NOTICE that all the jurists there in CA are WikiPedia red, or not yet created. Seems, that there is less interest by users to create justices' article, and they seemed to have forgotten that many, or very many legal experts and researchers worldwide, would benefit from reading the justices' profiles, instead of googling them so hard.

Happy New Year, more prosperity.

Karnataka music and Carnatic music

The issues with this topic are not over I guess, though there are other players in it. A merge proposal has been created for Music of Karnataka and Carnatic music. Music of Karnataka covers various topics like Carnatic music, Hindusthani music, and devotional/light music. Where as Carnatic music refers particularly to a tradition shared by four southern states and which scholars call Karnataka Sangeeta Shastra for reasons explained in the Carnatic music article. The merge would not make sense, IMO. We can just follow the proceedings for now I guess. thanks.Dineshkannambadi (talk) 18:41, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sir, Looks like this article is attracting other users (an unestablished user:RealIndian) who now wants the Carnatic music merged with another article. It is too important an article with an independent identity. I request a lock up of the article for now, untill a discussion can be had, instead of just reverting.thanksDineshkannambadi (talk) 17:37, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank U Kabigula & Nishkid64

to hide the page.... See, I had collected some 10 Hindi newspapers on Naresh Sonee from India , states like Rajasthan, (Udaipur, Jaipur) , Punjab state etc. Any Indian can't deny the popularity of these newspapers. All Indian working on wiki project if live in India or such states are certainly aware of these few newspapers who had covered news/reviews on Sonee in India. I will make a separate url and post on it all such news/reviews in form of scanned images – eg: photograph of Hindi news papers. Your goodself can stroll and verify them when ever time permit you. If your good self still insist I will email the url to the head administrator of wikipedia (investigation authority if such are there objection here ) also for their final verdict regarding notability or reliable sourced issue in question. But , meanwhile I only request you & Nishkid64 to help or source me out in getting translating these hindi news in English. & just allow me to recreate /post few line on Sonee with this link of url carrying newspapers in Hindi about Sonee. Any interested editors helping wiki project can translate the same in English and may help the page to grow by pace .
